Good first article Steven. I thought you opened yourself up a bit with the first sentence, you maybe could have framed it as a way for World rugby to encourage the game to follow the attacking path Nz and Japan are taking as opposed to a swipe at England

A number of situations I thought were offside in real time weren’t when reviewed back, including the Tuilagi intercept.
One of the quirks of the offside law is the player in front of the ball being allowed to play it when a kick catch is spilled, or a kick off tapped back. Seems to belie the logic of offside (Ie: being on the wrong side) to me

You say that but NZ have 3 recognised goal kickers on the pitch in B Barrett, J Barrett, R Moanga. There’s also a third Barrett who says he will step up and who wouldn’t back him given the pedigree.

Arguably RT England have a stronger front row (6) and starting midfield ( if Eddie goes Farrell Tuilagi). Nz edge second row for me, have a more experienced back row and critically game breakers at 10 and 15. NZ slight favourites on this basis but this England team should not (and will not) be underestimated

Smart move. If Jones sticks with his usual back row England only have two recognised lineout jumpers. NZ will have 5 if you include Savea.
A strong bench with the likes of SBW and Cane to make an impact in the final 30. ABs fighting fire with fire early on then planning on speeding the game up later

Superb analysis NB. Steve Borthwick deserves a lot of credit as there was some really creative stuff. Players also need to execute it of course which was done to perfection like the vast majority of the English game.
They may have shown their hand a bit in the lineout unless they have more creativity in store for Saturday.
Hansen and co got selections and tactics wrong for this match. One could surmise that Eddie had been spying on Hansens playbook ????
