A mediocre player in his time, long past his mediocrity.

Agreed CM he looks the goods. Good decision making, strong running and effective kicking.

Brumbies make it 12 straight against Tahs as Bell hobbles off in worrying sign for Wallabies

Just want to remark on Slipper’s milestone that for as much credit he has received for his scrumaging and on ball play he also needs to be called out for his defence. I watched the replay twice and his tackling and defence was outstanding and probably the best on ground. i’m sure someone will have the stats but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t right up there in the tackle count. And can I also point out the effectivesness of his tackles. He doesn’t just arrive late and put a hand on someone to rack up the tick, he is quite often first in and puts his man down cleanly and firmly.
Well done to a top class front rower!

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

Wow,
Almost Trumpian hypocracy from W Evans!
Your side is patently biased towards the reds but yet you question “balance”.
how on earth do yoe end up with Lynagh ahead of Lolesio?

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

The hard decision would have been for Waugh to resign and save what is essentially a superfluous CEO role.

Yeah,
But not his role on the board.

Skippy,
You have spoken the hard truth. I’m afraid wallaby greatness will continue to be out of reach for Donaldson. He just doesn’t have the secret ingedient that Ela, Lynagh and Larkham were born with. To be fair right now if I were selecting a Wallaby side i would still have Cooper as fist pick wih lolesio as the understudy.

You left out Irae Simone and i expect others but your point is well made.

And lets not forget Irae Simone in that backline consideration. He was actually in France at the time!

Spot on Jez,
And just so we all remember NSW Rugby has been bailed out more than any other Union. Also look where all the high paid recruits like Suali go!
We certainl don’t need any more NSW establisment Twats in the system – We’ve got plenty already!

RA's new HP director 'totally open' to foreign coach as RA sets timeline, CEO reacts to player dismay over Eddie

Whistleblower – you sure that shouldn’t be “dog whistler”!
There is absolutely nothing parochial about the ACT. We are essentially made up of arrivals from all over Australia and OS. Remember we were born out of people moving from NSW, VIC, SA etc.
Thats why we have 4 football codes pretty much equally supported. Also remember we only provide 5 members to the Parliament – the rest come from th states!

RA's new HP director 'totally open' to foreign coach as RA sets timeline, CEO reacts to player dismay over Eddie

Couldn’t agree more Spunkmeyer!
Phil has already demonstrated that he is an establishment stooge. He should be excused and invited to accompany Hamish and Eddie. Phil Waugh simply does not have the gravitas to fulfil the role of CEO. I didn’t rate him as a player and felt he was often selected over George Smith because of his boardroom ties. He was over-rated and praise was lorded on him because he could wrestle an opponent to the ground that ran into him! As to his administrative credentials – he was a bank middle manager. Not sure I would hang that up as a credential for transparency or commitment to the grass roots!

'Good relationship': RA boss plays down Jones' betrayal, welcomes Tests against Brave Blossoms

OO,
Even if I conceded your point about him being the best outside back for Australia at the world cup, remembering that Corey Toole and Tom Wright were overlooked, thats not the point.
The point I am trying to make is, RA as incompetent as we both agree it is, should not waste time lamenting on his departure or get involved in a tit-for-tat poaching crusade.
Him leaving is the least of the rabbles troubles!

Roosters offer 'something I couldn't knock back': Marquee Mark reveals why he's joining the Bondi bunch

His departure will be of little significance in the overall scheme of things. What I don’t understand is why he is waiting a year, or if its a contract issue, why RA don’t RA release him?
We have several good wingers and watching the current Rugby Sevens, several in the wings!
I would be more focussed on retaining or at alternatvely identifying quality number 10s.
In fact, perhaps more importantly, we need to focus on establishing a competent governance model and associated Board, Rugby Director and Coaching staff.

Roosters offer 'something I couldn't knock back': Marquee Mark reveals why he's joining the Bondi bunch

I think perhaps too many people are overthinking this! Carter was less than effective but he’s not the reason we failed. It was the BS strategy Eddie adopted from selection through to game plan. We had no identified playmakers! Eddie just wanted it kicked from the halfback. We needed Quade Cooper, Ryan Lonnergan, len Ikitau and Tom Wright in the squad. Simples!

'Sad to see him go': Young gun Gordon says Wallabies won't be scarred from World Cup flop

Not sure we should place too much credence on what either Gordon or for that matter Petaia have to say about the future of the wallabies or the impact of their failure might have? In my view they were both lucky to be there and proved to be ineffectual. We would have got far better return from Lolesio and Ikitau. History will show that these two are far better prospects than Gordon or Petaia, despite all the hype and promotion, and deserved to be in the squad.

'Sad to see him go': Young gun Gordon says Wallabies won't be scarred from World Cup flop

Phil,
You must surely be taking the proverbial piss!
The franchises aren’t tasked with coming forward with options. Thats what those bludgers at RA are paid to do!
If I was running the franchises I would want to know what I was being asked to commit to? Additionally do you think RA has gone to a franchise like the Brumbies and asked them about their development programs or how they are engaging the community?
As far as I can tell so far all RA and their mouthpieces are offering is plattitudes and justifications for their own existance!

Key hire that must happen BEFORE Wallabies can recruit new coach, why Brumbies are stalling on RA plan

“Well, we don’t see it as a takeover, we see it as integration and partnership and alignment and I think some of those concerns around the location of the Brumbies and the commercial elements are seen as a takeover, but we don’t see it like that. At the end of the day, our member unions and the community own rugby, not Rugby Australia.”
What a load of codswallop. What it actually means is the NSW Establishment is conducting a reverse take-over! Just watch the installation of NSW hacks into now “national” roles led by Waugh and the Hamster.
The only real reform can come with the dismantling of the current establishment and then the agreement to a national oversight body to construct a new charter, with equal representation from all states and territories players, coaches and administrators. In addition a strong representation of grassroots club rugby and Schools Rugby and junior development should also have positions on the board.

Magic!

'Always knew it would get really ugly': RA chief's strange admission as World Cup budget blow out revealed

He also said the number of Shore School old boys in the halls of power at RA over recent years was “bizarrely coincidental.”
No Hamish. Thats outright BS and you know it. Its been deliberately constructed that way and that is the single most important factor preventing Rugby being embraced by the broader community. The single most debilitating and destructive force in Rugby has been entitlement. It has been the millstone of those that have enjoyed it, and the greatest pitfall of those that have craved it. When playing or coaching the Wallabies returns to being an honour and a privillege gained through hard work, selflessness and devotion to the greater aspiration of triumphing as a union, then maybe we will see success.

'Always knew it would get really ugly': RA chief's strange admission as World Cup budget blow out revealed

All I can say is that the Wallaroos were brilliant and thank %^^&%& Eddie Jones was no where near them!
One thing’s for sure Rugby isn’t dead in the womens arena. Well done girls, you’ve shown the boys how to play the game!

'Hell of a win': 14-player Wallaroos hold on for stunning win over Wales to send coach out on a high

Not sure I’ve witnessed a more hollow victory than that!

THE GREATEST! Boks beat All Blacks in instant classic to claim record FOURTH RWC in controversial, dramatic final

Absolutely correct. It was a travesty and the hight of hypocricy.

THE GREATEST! Boks beat All Blacks in instant classic to claim record FOURTH RWC in controversial, dramatic final

Christie you are a complete drama queen and sensationalist simpleton. What is this greatest BS?
The boks were lucky and had the favour of the officials the whole game. The only side out there looking to play rugby was the ABs. The real loser in this game was rugby. Clearly the NH establishment wanted SA to be victorious. As to you and you and your coverage, how about you try and develop some objectivity, rather than the populous pulp you come out with. You’re not a sports journalist, just simply a small minded propaganda mouthpiece.

THE GREATEST! Boks beat All Blacks in instant classic to claim record FOURTH RWC in controversial, dramatic final

Top observation Bodger.
I also made a similar observation. The ABs have really improved their rucking performance and contact play. It is noticeable how few penalties they have conceded at the breakdown. On the contrary I think refs have been far too lenient on sides and in particular NH sides, leaving their feet or deliberately sealing the ball off by leaning forward with their arms on the ground forming long protective tunnels. To their credit the AB’s have chosen not to try and contest this with cleanouts as it would mean coming in from the side to have any chance. I am a wallabies fan but I am delighted the AB’s are in the final as they are by a long measure the most deserving finalist with how they have plaed and conducted themselves in this tournament. To be honest aside from the obvious disappointment of how poorly the Wallabies played, the biggest disappointment was the Fiji didn’t make it through to the Semi and but for some questionable decisions that didn’t miss by mutch! One thing I know for sure they would have put on a far better spectacle than England.

SPIRO ZAVOS: England's bully boy, no rugby display against Boks is the game they play in hell. Now for the salvation
