Thought Tate’s service was pretty slow also. Sure the ruck was a mess, but he has to be better than that. That quick tap and trying to milk the subsequent 10m penalty was dumb stuff..

Reds denied a losing bonus point by Drua in Fiji as Suli Vunivalu is sent off for tripping

This Vunivalu situation is truly farcical, defies comprehension.

Excellent appointments. I don’t even mind the Dave Warner consultancy to be honest. With the doom and gloom around the Rebels position and underperformance of the Tahs it’s good to know that there will at least be the appropriate coaching structure for the WB squad to step into after the Super season. That is a huge development given what most of those players would have experinced last season.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

The missed tackles are and have been an issue. The Brums tackling technique appears way too upright to me and passive around the break down.

Wasn’t what you’ve outlined the formula employed last year?

Have to feel for Rodda, so much potential but is clearly cursed on the injury front. The Force are in some serious trouble with those outs; it will be a tough year for them and their fans.

No doubt someone else (i.e. Taniela) goes down with an injury this weekend… alas, it’s farken hard to find a good news story in Aus rugby atm.

I don’t think the pace of their play has anything to do with spreading the ball across the backline. They identified a deficiency in the height of the new french winger and exposed it brutally.

SPIRO ZAVOS: England's bully boy, no rugby display against Boks is the game they play in hell. Now for the salvation

In essence, you have outlined the AB’s strategy over the last 6-8 years. SA proved they can play fast, faster and more expansive than France in fact.

Christy – is it possible for you, or The Roar platform, to publish to the site the full document submitted by Marks?

Your article includes the key sound bites but it would be interesting to read in full, as a long-suffering fan.

'Caesar is not going to be unkind to Caesar': Ex-ARU coaching director's report for RA - and what's needed to fix game

This Crichton stuff is absurd from RA. Almost unbelievable that they think this is appropriate, and/or, provides some level of distraction in the current climate. This situation is laughable.

Revealed: Why Rugby Australia won't break the bank on Origin star, NRL chair's pot-shot at embattled code

Thanks, Christy – this is one of your best pieces recently. Saddens me the negligence that has been on display at board and governance level for so long.

One thing I don’t understand is in relation to QLDs reported view on centralisation, and I get the aversion to wanting to work with RA into the future given the historic experience, but if they’re not for centralisation, or some other derivation thereof, what is the solution in their mind that remedies the myriad issues that need resolving?

'Semi pro sport at best': Ex-Ireland HP manager's scathing critique of Aussie rugby, and dire warning for its future

Picked perfectly, Harry, and Jones has played out true to form.

If RA was a publicly listed company, both Jones and McLennan would go. If we don’t make it out of the pool, which has a high probability attached to it, both should resign the next day. Even Alan Joyce would have the gumption to go under those circumstances.

To think as an administration it was only 5 years ago that RA had to appoint Scott Johnson as Director of Rugby to ensure the right checks and balances were adhered to at the selection table, and that they have given cart blanche to Eddie to do what he wants, is frankly negligent and indefensible. Sure, different administration/directors/exec, but where is the learned memory/experience?

I have been a rugby tragic my whole life (35 years), played club rugby, played rep rugby at district level and in school, and I am the last of my social circle who keeps an active interest in SRP and the game in general. However, the experience of the last 9 months has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I am literally one loss away from throwing in the towel.

COMMENT: Eddie must be axed if he can't beat Wales - or the game will be in deep trouble in Australia

Big time. Couldn’t help but think during the Fiji game how woefully utilized Marika is at the moment.. No ball carrying short or in tight and never used as a decoy. Madness.

Good, the bad, the Eddie: 'Always good to kick a dead body, mate' - Jones' wry reality as Fiji rise from sleeping on floor to rugby heaven

The coaching appointments and team are an embarrassment to Australian rugby fans, with such glaringly obvious deficiencies permeating strategy/tactics/general play. Hamish Mclennan should resign as Chairman for allowing Eddie to run rough-shod over the selection of his assistants. There were high-quality assistants in the program (i.e. Dan McKellar, Laurie Fisher) that would have likely stayed on had Eddie swallowed his ego for 5 mins. That continuity and cohesion in methodology and approach would have mitigated some of the areas the WBs have clearly regressed in. Broncan is offering nothing as maul coach, and we look awful in that department. Fark the whole mess infuriates me.

Five Things: Eddie's mad scientist coaching group exposed - but Wallabies won't fear Wales like Fiji

As usual, Geoff, you have summed up the mood perfectly – i.e. as a supporter of WBs, the only thing you can do is turn your attention to next week’s clash with Wales.

Have to agree with most comments already posted in the various threads that the attack play looks pretty mechanical/formulaic, particularly with the incessant kicking away of ball when we’re in the attacking 40m zone… Bobby V used too much as a hit-up option and not much else happening off set piece first phase.

Too many issues with game strategy and personal to deal with in one post.

The Wrap: Group C fast becoming everyone’s favourite - except for the Wallabies as early flight home looms large

Our best half of rugby this year was the first half of Bled 2, where Arnold/Frost were the starting locking combination. I have been thinking during the week that what we lose with Will not playing is somewhat mitigated (but not fully) by a traditional second row combo that should get at least get parity in the line out (if not dominance), and a bit more general mobility if we’re going to play territory.

Shaping up as a belter. Won’t be getting much sleep tonight before I wake at 5am and put the replay on..

ANALYSIS: The two areas Fiji will attack the Wallabies - and the moment of truth for Eddie's bold coaching pick

Without Skelton this looks tough and not sure I’d be starting Slips. Vunivalu selection lacks logic, that said, he looked sharp last week.

5am wake up Monday for a full game replay before logging on at the desk from home 8am.

Come on you, Wobs, get up boys!

Wallabies CONFIRMED: Key Wallabies duo out, Frost back and hooker swap for 'most important match of World Cup'

It’s a tough one, PK. The counter factual to your 50 mins is a blown calf in the first 10 mins that knocks him out for the remainder of the tournament.

Exclusive: Tongan Thor in doubt for Wallabies' entire RWC pool stage after training mishap, surprise Slipper role

Agreed, Bobby. The medium and longer term question is how much consistent rugby we can get out of Nella? There must be so much force moving through his frame that sustainably playing test rugby and being able to string 3+ games together has a big question mark behind it.
Without stating the obvious, he should not be risked this wknd even if he is close to fit. Might be a bit left field, but I would start Nonggor with Slips off the bench.

Exclusive: Tongan Thor in doubt for Wallabies' entire RWC pool stage after training mishap, surprise Slipper role

Agree – huge assignment for both of them given where they’re up to in terms of development as players.

Equally, Nonggor could be anything I reckon. Perfect physique for a TH and as wide as a bus. Massive ceiling if they can develop him properly.

'Massive step up': After being 'battered' in Pretoria's baptism of fire, 'Baby Thor' knows he must grow up fast

Jeff was a great winger, and also a great cricketer, although not that great. He also is largely remembered as the guy that copped ‘the tackle of the century’, and suffered the ignominy of being an AB that didn’t win a RWC. Good night Jeff, as they say on the Wiggles.

RWC News: All Blacks legends seethe over 'ridiculous' Barrett decision, Foz reacts to 'spanking', Genge's got the grumps

Hard to get your head around the rationale for the coaching group when you read the names, experience and respective skill sets in one paragraph. Defensive system issues and an ineffective attacking maul are the biggest issues atm IMO. Hope Carter gets his kicking boots on as any confidence he gets from nailing his kicks should go some way to unlocking the rest of his game.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

Thanks for the article, Brett, and most on this site will agree with your sentiments. Cohesion, continuity, coherence.. sadly appears to be sweet FA of it in and around what the Wobs are trying to do and achieve! Alas, I am resigned to hope at this point.

Enjoy the opportunity, debutants – I’m not sure how many more there will be as Wallabies enter must-win mode
