Robinson got dished up by the Reds and Brumbies and work rate is hopeless

The Insider Selections: Locks, props, hooker

Ha Ha. I had to have a chickle, top idea, very good and very sensible. The exact reasions why NSWRU won’t take their precious team to the regions. Probably the same reason why I know more Reds and Brumbies supproters that tahs supporters in Country NSW.

As mentioned above the Reds play regular trials in Toowomba, and have played in Cairns, TSV in recent years. Bathurst/Orange?Dubbo/Wagga are much close to Sydney than the forementioned places are to Brisbane.

The Waratahs should represent all of NSW

That needs to be the plan agains the Lions. Have a back row that can hold thier own against the Lions forwards and run them around when we’ve got the ball

Sure the Insider isn’t Deans? Picking his favourite Horraflowers? He’s definetly not from the ACT or QLD, tight 5 selections will shed more light on where he’s from. .

The Insider Selections: halves, loose forwards

Elisha,

Good points about needing to win over Sydney people, but there is a whole heap of NSW out there besides Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong. I spent 6 years involved in Rugby in Country NSW as a player and later as a Club President which is one of the reasons I am a mad Reds nut. The way in which Rugby is neglected outside the major centres of NSW and the attitude of those in charge towards those of us who don’t spend half our life stuck in traffic, coupled with the appearance that the team should be renamed the Moore Park Paddington Waratahs has turned a lot of people away. I know more Brum and Red

What I’m trying to say is NSW need to do more to engage people outside the big centres there’s an awful lot out there who treat them with the same distain as kiwi or saffa team.

Sorry about the rant, I’ll go have a lie down now.

How insular are the Super Rugby tribes?

How much longer does the rugby public have to put up with this? Time for him to be made an example of.

Rebels Beale and Vuna in South African bust-up

Agreed Sheek,

Assuming the Walalbies will be picked on form 7 would have to be Gill who also provides a better lineout option than Hooper.

What does Pocock's injury mean for the Wallabies?

So the Tahs pack play like flowers again and get dusted by an Australian pack again. Who wants to run a sweep on how many of them make the Wallabies? There seems to be no one in the pack with the Big Kev mindset of ‘Follow Me’

Real shame about Pocock but in a way its fotunate that 7 is one of the few positions where the WB’s have a bit of depth. Handy to be able to bring on King George.

Full credit to the Horse Men. Simple game plan executed well with players fit and skilful enough with the right head space. Where’s the NSW ‘this is our year’ brigade now?

Love the call up top about were elephants go to die

Pocock injury worry as Brumbies down NSW

Finally a form pack. I don’t know about cummings at 13, but who else is there? Rob Horne and AAC- surely not either. Not A. Smith, F-Sautia a bit green yet. Could move Digby in but he is more dangerous in broken play with more space Cummings might be a good choice

Wallabies selection: who are the Lion tamers?

I think the reason behind the success of Jim Maxwell and Ritchie is that they are journalists. Why do we have to have ex circketors (or any sport for that matter) as commentators? I can see why Channel Nein want house hold names, but I think I watched about 10mins of criket for the entire summer.

Bring in some people who have made a career out of informing people. That goes for all sports.

Channel Nine’s commentary revolution

Great artilce Elisha. All the way through I was thinking- What about the Reds, as you said Mooney did lay the foundations for success. The Brumbies and Tahs will be looking to to skip that foundation step an move to success sooner, which the Brumbies did to an extent last year. I think one of the keys there is two coaches who run their own show in their way. Is there any lessons here for the Force? Would they be able to apply them?

How to fix a Super Rugby team

Am Im missing somehting- I never rated Burgess. Harbour bridge passes, slow, plodding and annoying in interviews. I’ll be at confession this week, mentioning a half back in an articel about GS.

George Smith to play for Brumbies in 2013

Here we go again. NSW hype, based on some trial games and a poster boy. They have a long way to go to emulate the Reds. For the sake of Australian Rugby I hope they go alright (jeez I feel dirty now). They could start by representing more of NSW than the Paddington – Moore Park area. Although this time even I get the feeling they could be pointing in the right direction with the coach.

The Waratahs are the new Reds

No, Its just stupid in the context of that game.

The Waratahs are the new Reds

They kept that quiet. Even in my at times fruitless hunt for rugby news I didn’t see that. “No rugby on TV make Grimamce go something something”

Five of the big questions that will be answered in 2013

I’m NSW will find some way to balls this up

Israel Folau to Waratahs?

Couldn’t agree more Loges. Its not all the ARU’s fault (they are at least in part responsible), the states need to do more too. I’ve noticed since moving north that the QRU is much more active than the NSWRU in regional ares- although I hear the NSWRU do a good job in Moore Park and Paddington.

I think a stand needs to be taken, and this whole concept of ‘brand’ done away with. Play something worth watching with a bit of heart and we’ll watch. No one really minds when the Wallibies have a go and loose, its when they roll over and don’t have a go that we get upset. Maybe they have turned the page with the punishment dished out to QC? We can live in hope.

Looks like its time to get out the old torch and pitch fork.

Australian rugby fans must find their voice

Couldn’t agree more. Kev makes me want to put a shot on the fridge when i go for a beer.

You need someone to inspire the rest of the team. What is a 7 going to do? Inspire the boys to cheat harder? (I know RM captains NZ, but there’s a heap of real leaders in that side). A half back captain, “Come one fellas really get under the refs skin”. Genia as captain? I like Shancez, but anyone who’s suffered the indignity of being captained by a halfback knows better. The captain must be a tight forward.

If it had have been someone other than a tight forward that ran down the pommie fullback in the ’91 WC final, no one would have remembered it. A lock doing it, becomes legend, as does a lock knocking over a kick after the final whistle in Wellington.
No one can do the unexpected or the really hard work like the very low numbers can.

Forgotten man Horwill the one the Wallabies miss most

Its the Players Player, an awars voted for by the players out on the field. I spose it shows the difference, between the sprots. In Rugby you need to go forward before you can use it.

Wallaby legend knew Sharpe was the goods

Is he signed up to any S15 side?

Sharpe wins John Eales Medal

Good article Carcus, sounds similar to a programme the Reds are undertaking. Even if the cynic is correct and its only done for the grants, for those u13’s (and their dads) it wouldn’t get any better than JOC running the water.

Word is the Waratahs are going to expand their programme to include both Moore Park and Paddington

Sport needs a social conscience

the 5m rule was part of the ELV’s wasn’t it?

There's more to rugby than just a highlights package

On the money Loages. I doubt a team with a ‘toxic’ environemnt would have done that on Saturday. Little things, piggies getting aiming up and accurarte, good line speed, hanging onto it (for the most part).

Yes we do seem to find real talent quite reguarly but we are aslo very good at throwing them in too early. There are exceptions like Hooper and Gill who perform straight away but we have a long list of talent that was bought in far too early and never reached its full potential and/or got massive ego’s.

No dickhead policy- i like it. We bought it in a a club I was involved with a while ago, it worked wonders. Works for the fans as well, we much rather a mob of honest hard workers than posers.

Golden era beckons for Wallabies

I ran one for a couple of years. We picked 10’s over 7’s as it catred to rounder individuals.

Follow the Sevens brick road, if you can find it

Brett,

Can’t say I’m surprised you got no response from NSW. Same response I got while President of a club down there with everything I tried. NSW- Newcastle, Sydney Wollongong.

Being a former hooker/THP, my one issue with 7’s is that it loses the ‘game for all shapes and sizes’ ethos. But I agree a great way to get kids involved, and the Mums are less likely to be put off. Why not 10’s for schools, give us guys with a proper physique a go!

Follow the Sevens brick road, if you can find it

Maybe we don’t want a rugby person. Someone from outiside who can come in not owing anyone anything could be the best persoe to have a look with a fresh set of eyes and a purely business like approach. Seeing what needs to be done and no emotional attachment to any particular state and there purely for the good of the game.

Great players do not necessarally make great administrators
