Increasingly? Private schools have been churning out champions like factories for decades.

GWS are tearing up the AFL, so where are the fans?

As a Dees fan who would benefit from this scenario I have to say no way – its simply not fair to the side that finishes 8th or 7th that they have a chance to be toppled by teams that wernt good enough to be there in the alloted 22 game season. Should Melbourne get on a roll and miss the finals by 2 games then they can look at the 2 games they blew against the Eagles and Crows and stew on it all summer. Why should they get another crack at another teams expence because it took them half a season to get their s$!t together?

Could the Dees and Tigers give the AFL's wildcard dreams a boost?

He should have left the day AFLX popped into his head.

It's time for new leadership at the AFL: Why Gil's gotta go

Essendon to beat GWS? Theres more chance of Melbourne winning every game for the rest of the season, sneaking into 8th and winning the flag. And tgey wont beat Brisbane this week so that aint gunna happen.

2019 AFL season: Round 15 preview

Agree with the vast majority of the views expressed here but I cant see him going – not when revenue is at an all time high and the avg crowd is over 35000 (despite multiple attendances under 10000). He is most likley hitting all his KPI. I do wonder if this is all a bit of “empire building” on Gills part – trying to leave his mark on the game… and failing miserably.

It's time for new leadership at the AFL: Why Gil's gotta go

Personal opinion only – i just despise people like him. Ran away for money. Things got tough. Ran away again. I dont actually boo incidently i just have little issues with the booing of a guy that thinks 3/4 of the crowd are going to hell.

Why I support the AFL's fan crackdown

Two points… just because yo didnt hve a smart pone to record it on doesnt mean it didnt happen – there have been brawls at the footy forever and this aint gunna stop…just be gretful it a resonably rare event. Second point – if there is a player tht deserves to be booed and hounded it is Gary Ablett Jr. And I hope it cotinues.

Why I support the AFL's fan crackdown

Umpires have been copping abuse since the dawn of time (1858) – they get into this knowing full well what they are in for when they sign up. They have pretty thick skins! I reckon its an issue in Aussie Rules more than other sports because we have so many grey areas and rules open to a bit of interpretation – we also have an absurd system where an umpire can make a blatant mistake and it is justified by the AFL. This leads directly to a lack of respect for umpires from fans…

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

Safety in numbers thing i reckon. Ive been in some pretty feral crowds at places like Morabbin, Vic Park and Kardinya Park and never felt unsafe. Only ground ive ever been threatened or abused at was Subiaco Oval. My crime? Standing outside at 3/4 time having a ciggie in a Melbourne scarf. I will say though for the most part WA crowds are great…

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

Yeah but thats the stuff they learned at the footy in the first place!

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

But ive been to 3 games this year – roaring drunk, followed by pretty tipsy, followed by shouldnt have even been standing. Plenty of time to drink before a game.

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

Ive been that dick at times lol – id answer the survey with the first option… ive actually been thinking about it since last week and im not sure how much footy ill be going to from here on in… i have to travel a long way to see my team play a few times a year and im not sure its worth the money or the trips to be thrown out at 1/4 time because ive had the gall to yell something nasty at a guy whos only employed because of hundreds and thousands of people like me!

Make the AFL a safer place for everyone

I had a friend who use to call out “are your eyes painted on umpire?” – was a great one because its not overly offensive, gave her a way to non aggressivly tell an umpire what she thought and always got a laugh from anyone in earshot reguardless of who they were barracking for

Fans and why I hate them

I think we all have been guilty of that one at least once in our footy viewing careers but your spot on – the reason me and most of the crowd are AT the footy not plsying it is because we cant kick for s*%t… but we abuse a player for missing a target or a goal…

Fans and why I hate them

Can deal with the obnoxious and abusive supporters but the ones i really struggle with are the parochial fans – the ones that need to see a player almost decapitated to conceed their team actually gave away a free kick, the ones who take offence when an opposition player comes within a meter of their own player in an attempt to spoil, the ones who sit there and blame the umpires when their team loses by 2 points after being 31 points up then kick 1.9 in the second half – i can ignore or laugh at the abuse but these guys aee the ones that make going to the footy unenjoyable for me!

Fans and why I hate them

Fair point and I also dont think they will win the flag but they are still putting together enough good footy to be in a fairly good position at the half way point of the season – whilst they have been patchy and there are games they have won with 1 quarter of decent footy they still look good whilst they are on – id take their season over my teams at the moment!

The Eagles are a false flag contender

Id be pretty happy as an Eagles fan. They’re bulding nicely in my opinion…

The Eagles are a false flag contender

They just made sure Carlton dont featurecin prime time spots – i didnt watch one Friday night game they were involved in last season and i bet thousands were the same.

The AFL's wasted year

Have to admit with my team out of the race and Geelong and Collingwood on top ive lost a fair bit of interest at this stage… just need a few genuine cracker games to wake me up

The AFL's wasted year

That doesnt mean we dont exist! But your right no one gives a toss about us but us…

The AFL's wasted year

Yup couldnt agree more. Im not sure who is the forwards coach atm but who ever it is needs to be dismissed immediately. This is simple fact – Melbourne are 3 – 8 and season is over… BUT 15.9 not 9.15 means they beat the eagles. 16.12 not 12.16 means they beat the crows. 15.7 not 7.15 means a 1 point loss to Collingwood not 41 points. Bad kicking has cost Melbourne the chance to be 5 – 6 and potentially 6 – 5 with a string of winnable games coming up and sitting just outside the 8. Given how deplorable they have been at stages this year its amazing that had they not fluffed chances in front goal they would be in the hunt up to their necks given the talent starting to return. Poor delivery into the forward line isnt helping either – its like the players are actually looking for opposition players to kick too or just bombing it in auskick style hoping that someone will take a screamer. All Melbournes problems are fixable but its too late for 2019.

The dazzling, dreadful Demons have no plan

Way too many players out of form – and given the injury list the Demons have had for most of the first 11 weeks of the season you just cant have players like Viney and McDonald out of form to be competitive. Im in 2 minds re goodwin – on one hand maybe thus year is an abberation but if he cant get them back into the top bracket in 2020 he has to go… the list is oozing with talent it just needs to be harnessed.

The dazzling, dreadful Demons have no plan

Marching from your seat to the fence or the race to give an ump or player a spray is not on. Calling an ump a green maggot because he or she made a crap decision is hardly an eject from the game tirade. If it is i may as well not go to the footy. Can we boo them? Optus Stadium will be pretty empty if we cant even boo em!

Why the AFL is right to remove abusive spectators

You do know you described a typical day at suburban footy for ANY visiting fan/team? Im sure it was exactly the same in the WAFL and SANFL back in the day… and I do remember being verbally abused so ferociously by 3 Eagles fans at Subi in the late 1990s that the cops took all 3 away. My crime? Wearing a scarf that wasnt blue and yellow. The Freo supporter that threatened to stab me was fun too.

Why the AFL is right to remove abusive spectators

The inclusions for Melbourne quell my anxiety a bit – all quality. However it will take a bit for May and Lever to get back into top form and make an impact i think. Cant see them getting over a strong Collingwood.
