Carlton have gone for key position players and have done very well in that area, their spine is one of the best in the league, Jones Weitering, Crip, Curnow (when his fit), and McKay.
Where they fall short in in the small man division. Not tough enough not strong enough not fast enough you name it there bad at it, no commitment no sustainability, lack of experience, skill etc.
Todays gave is a congested style game where you need good strong small man and Carlton just doesnt have them simple as that. They need the mosquito fleet of the past. The Johnsons, Williams, Bucklies, Marcos, Contaggios.
Carlton are this century's saddest football club and it's not even close
