How about thinking outside the box? Who is best at getting sporting deals done? Can you imagine being part of an organisation called Australian Football Leagues comprising AFL, AFL-W, AL-M and AL-W? What would be some of the benefits? We would get better administration, better access to media, potential use of existing facilities, better negotiating, better access to all tiers of government, etc. It would mean doing a deal with the devil and would shake up our existing state federations. It would mean our only rival would then be the NRL. Then I awoke from my dream.
BTW I can’t wait for Canberra to be part of the AL-M.

Totally agree. Gustavsson then only has one choice to make, which might be difficult, to ensure adequate coverage of defence, midfield and attack with the 7 reserve players.

VAR isn’t making incorrect calls. It’s the referees that are using it.

Not sure that it is the VAR that is the issue. The technology seems to be able to present information quickly enough. It seems to me to be a lot of operator error.

Yep – VAR rightly pointed out to the ref that he got it wrong. The ref pondered it for an inordinate amount of time and then chose to ignore the blatantly obvious.

I was at the game and I guess the Mexican wave was a result of the pedestrian manner in which the game was being played. Apart from a few moments of brilliance the game was not very entertaining and was all about passing the ball backwards and sideways. I think the team has a long way to go before they start moving the ball quickly into space for attackers to run on to. There was too much holding the ball looking for somewhere to pass it – and then passing sideways or backwards. There seems to be a lack of bravery in the teams play. That could be a result of the coaching or the fact these low risk games are being used to to provide opportunities for our future Socceroos.
Craig Goodwin gave a MOTM performance. Excellent signs for the future going on the perfomances of the youngsters Arnie put on the park.
A win is a win and we move on.
