Haha. Big of you to concede that after the considerable criticism of his leadership.

The Multi Format World Cup Winning Captain will be so pleased to finally have your approval.

Lots of armchair critics. Lots of haters. But Captain Pat & Team prove yet again that quality always shines through. Congrats!

I hope so. But carrying Warner is not helping our cause.

0.5 for Warner. Why? Because he is One of the Boys? Or he’s Such a Top Bloke? If you could give negative numbers, you would give him closer to -2 or -3. He effectively cost Australia an Ashes win in England for the first time in 20 years.

I suspect I know the answer. It is the same manipulation that allowed him to influence an impressionable young opener in a change room in SAF with his cheating sandpaper tactics. In the same way, Davey is manipulating his current team to believe that he is “undroppable”. It is nefarious and untoward manipulation cloaked in a culture of mateship. What a Bloke!

Our Slectors now need to step up and say: “Guys, enough is enough. We need to do what is in the best interests of the team and Australia winning the Ashes. Sure, we know that Davey will blow a gasket, and let’s not even get started on the very vocal wife, but we need to do what is best for the Australian cricket team.”

Will this happen? Probably not. It would require real strength and leadership.

Agreed Andrew. While canonized by the Brits and Kiwis, McCullum’s “beer sharing” comments raised some serious eyebrows in the Australian camp, after he (wait for it) ran players out multiple times through his New Zealand Test career as batsmen were celebrating milestones!! Not So Holy Kiwi Bloke.

The Liebke Second Ashes Test report card: 'Same old Aussies! Always appealing for wickets that the umpires give out’

I loved Stokes interview after the game: I wouldn’t want to win in that manner!! Ha ha. Well then give NZ the 2019 World Cup owing to those dodgy 4 runs… was that in the spirit of the game? Forget about that!!

The English love a Kiwi “Good Loser”.

New Zealand plays the “Colonial Patsy” role to perfection (eg World Cup Final).

Australia aspires to a bit more Respect.

So many Cummins Bashers on this site. They don’t like him because he allegedly back stabbed his coach, he cares about the environment, he doesn’t want his Muslim team mate sprayed with alcohol, he doesn’t understand field placements, he isn’t Mervy/Boony enough, and so on. Good on you Pat. Let the haters hate, and go on making history as a great bowler and the kind of leader Australian cricket needs after weak leaders allowed the reputation of Australian cricket to be dragged through the mud with everything from ball tampering to staff dong pics.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC! Clutch Cummins sees Aussies home in Ashes instant CLASSIC

Warner is such an embarrassment to Australian sport. Even though he cheated outrageously, and is still selected for this Ashes series, while his form in England, especially against Broad, screams out for him to be dropped, he continues to paint himself as the Victim. Please give me a break. Even including the obnoxious tennis brats, no sportsman makes me feel less proud to be an Australian sports fan.

Bangladesh Tigers pounce to beat New Zealand: How the world reacted to monumental upset

Hi Micko. My comment was more aimed at the age debate. Some are suggesting that given the dead rubber nature of the remaining Ashes tests, selectors need to be blooding “youth”. I am not trying to compare Khawaja to Tom Brady, but the age debate needs to bow down to the player’s specific performance, even if their age means they don’t have years remaining in their playing career. It is not like coaches around the world are saying, let’s bench Messi or Brady because we don’t think they will help us win a title five years down the track. Regarding Khawaja, his dominant Sheffield Shield performance, along with his attitude and maturity, probably means he deserves at least a crack at the SCG. He’s no Brady or Messi, but his red ball performance in relation to the competition should be the key selection determinant, rather than whether he will be defending the Urn at Lords in 2023. Pick the best team – now.

Khawaja has one shot to reignite Australia dream

Pick the best team. Pure and simple.

I get the symbolism, but not sure that is a merit based selection.

A more shocking selection than Boland over Richardson?

Don Freo, I must admit that I feel challenged by your Year 10 rather basic and always incredibly insane uneducated worldview. But there is positive news, every time I read one of your comments, it reminds me of the importance of receiving a timely colonoscopy. Always!!

'He'll play': Justin Langer on retaining Harris, Starc's injury concern and whitewash goals

“Let me squash this straightaway – Marcus Harris is like my little brother. I’ve known him at Scarborough Cricket Club since he was about 10 years old. Did I say [he was] mediocre with flashes of brilliance? Yeah I did, because that’s what he was. That’s the truth, look at it. … What he’s done [since leaving WA], to his great credit, is he’s become a really consistent opening batsman with flashes of brilliance.”

He’s a Fantastic Bloke …. blah blah ….

Langer Out!!

Harris. 3 and Out. As expected, sadly.

Head bashes Poms with blistering ton, Warner's no-ball stat as bizarre umpiring under fire: Talking Points

Not sure about being as white as snow, but surely not sending an unsolicited photo of your knob to a fellow employee. Who on this site would keep their job in the modern workplace environment after sending a photo of their member to their secretary? Very few I would imagine. What a Lucky Guy! Or perhaps just another example of our different moral standards for sporting heroes & “Top Blokes”.

Generally, no. But I do have a problem with hypocrisy. The danger of being placed on a pedestal as an ethical messiah, following the despicable antics of one “Davey”Warner in SAF, is that people will expect (maybe unreasonably) that you will adhere to those high ethical standards that you espouse. To have known that you – as a recently married man – had been seriously investigated by your employer for sending photos of your genitalia to a work colleague, and also knowing that you were about to step into one the most high profile public positions in Australia, fully aware of all the media pressure associated with that role, it begs a few questions: was this guy naïve, arrogant or just stupid? Not sure, but he was certainly “lucky” to have escaped the brutal glare of the media and the public on this issue for a long as he did. So no, I don’t have anything against lucky people, just those that try to use their luck to cover up wrongdoing, especially when they are being painted as moral crusaders, cleaning up the world, and an outstanding example for the youth of Australia.
