And batting it back (after ball passed plane of touch) and not making it back into the field of play as happened off O’Connor’s penalty kick in second half is simply ball in touch and not play on as though it isn’t.

'Game's out of control': Coaches, players, fans and refs are united by their hatred of the dumbest law in rugby

And Mertens along with many others have been calling it the same way all that time – he’s no ‘mouthpiece’ and the current interpretation of the law is nuts

white wasn’t let down by anyone but himself. He had a poor game and magnified the issues facing those outside him. Also Hooper didn’t do ‘just OK’. He was worse than average, He needed to be calming his young charges and giving them guidance and heart. Instead he stood watching his pack while the AB rolling maul scores a try – why wasn’t he getting stuck in to help his lads? Not a captains action or character by any means.

Peter K – On the basis of Harrison’s performance in the Aus A side against the Argies your assertion that he would have done a better job in this test has no foundation. He was ordinary in his game mgt, tackling, distribution and kicking.

Groundhog day for the Wallabies: Four talking points from Bledisloe 3

Harrison played in the Aus A game against the Argies and was woeful – one break that he ruined by running away from his supports and then getting turned over, several hospital passes to his outside men, other passes to no one, several missed tackles and missed all his kicks at goal. Lolesio is a much better option and will have learned a lot from that game.
Lolesio was not helped by the incredible lack of leadership support and nor were a number of his team mates. Hooper’s display in this regard was typified by his standing in the in-goal a couple of metres away from an AB rolling maul that was lumbering towards the Wallaby line – AND STAYING THERE until the ABs scored!!!! He may not have been able to stem the advance BUT HE DIDN’T EVEN TRY!!!! His breakdown work has also become pedestrian/ineffective and he should have been pulled before half time. Instead he stays on and McWreight gets put into the blind side flanker spot and his capacity to change the breakdown situation is diminished. Hooper has the ‘C’ against his name on the team sheet but seems to have a poor idea of what is required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role after 100+ tests and about 50 or so of those with the Captain tag. Time for a huge change in attitude and performance from him or time for him to move on.

Not sure where you get 65 minutes from. Brumbies led from 7th minute of first half till about 8th minute of 2nd half plus 1 minute from the 84th minute … total 41 minutes out of 85. As Highlander said earlier the Brumbies first 2 tries were illegal on the basis of Frost binding to the maul in front of the jumper on both occasions – very obvious, very deliberate and very illegal. Take those 14points away and the score is 20 – 8 not 22-20.
Then consider the nonsense decision to penalise LSL and rescind the Petaia try at the end of the first half – Wright hit LSL’s chest as he was falling . It was a good tackle and not high in terms of LSL attacking the head or aiming high. Wright (Brumbies winger) was trying to milk penalties on several occasions and Berry fell for this one. 7 pts to the Reds for that and we have 27 – 8.
Last Reds line out was lost because the Brumbies player jumped across and into the Reds jumper without any attempt to get the ball – he was playing the man illegally and should have been penalised which meant the game would have been over right there with the score at 27 – 5 because that last penalty hadn’t been scored yet.
Then look at the last penalty where McReight has all the rights befor Frost enters from the side and tackles McReight back into Fines. McReight was not trying to interfere with the halfback. Reds should have had that penalty and again game over at 27 – 5 which would have been a fair reflection of the Reds effectiveness and superiority in both defence and attack.
However – the Brumbies are on the board as the winners so good luck to them.

The Wrap: Super Rugby AU comes of age in Canberra thriller

AB passing usually in front of player at right height. Wallaby passing was all over the place, generally except for in front of the player at right height. Basic skills lacking is right on the money!!!

Cooper’s defence was good apart from over running in cover on a Dagg try. Foley on the other hand (and who also doesn’t defend the 10 channel when he is playing there) was poor in defence. He made Kerevi’s job harder last night. Drop him all the way out of the team. Promote Hodge and retain Kerevi. Hooper was also ineffective last night – demented ferret a good description.
