Kiwis comeback to 7 points. Decision not to kick penalty goal paid off ofr them. One gets the sense that if the Wallabies can play through the next 5 minutes then love and guts will get them through.

Awesome defense on the tryline after ABs take line out. Turner smashes Nonu. Brilliant.

At last,..Beale gets the nod to kick. Pays off.

They certainly are not ready for what’s coming at them.

Magic kick down-field by Genia and beautiful chase and tackle by AC. He deserved that try.

No excuse for woefulness after 3 weeks. I think the pace is getting to them funnily enough. Quick ball fro the ruck and passes are zooming at different lengths. The Wallabies are playing with astonishing confidence in some passages. Some of the passes that are getting picked up on the fingertips…bloddy hell. Good game. Can they keep it up this half? We’re about to find out.

Kearns is a boofhead. Obviously would dearly like to be 15 years younger and on the field. But there’s no point in commentating like that.

Smart first half. Kicking is pretty good I think. Apart from goal kicking I mean. Must pull giteau. Beale can kick. Did we not learn that one last week?

I wouldn’t trade last Saturday’s win for anything, except maybe for the 2003 World Cup.

However, the answer to the question “Have they turned the corner?” can perhaps only be given after this Saturday. Against the Springboks in South Africa the Wallabies had them by the throat twice, and then some, only to conceed on both occasions. Yes, they deserve credit for having the field position in that final minute, but the opportunity itself was handed to them courtesy of the Springboks. Had the Boks played positively or even just “kicked it to the shithouse” then we would be here with nothing to celebrate and wouldn’t even be asking the question let alone think we might have a response in the positive.

Have the Wallabies turned the corner?

Thanks for the memories.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Would love to have the camera in the changerooms for the halftime chat. Will never, happen, obviously.

Don't interview players at the half

Aahh. Latham. He was my favourite Wallaby. Yes, safe with an awesome boot. However, he did know how to run the ball back at the oppostition, and sometimes outrageously, when he picked his time. Who can forget his try against Wales at Millenium Stadium? 2006, the sight of him audaciously sizing up all 15 Welsh players from the halfway line, picking the ball up on the volley, and then bolting and swerving down the wing, inside, outside and scoring is very clear in my memory. Maybe he up-and-undered more than I care to remember, but this run is what I always remember.

The altitude/attitude win the Wallabies had to have

Too soon, I think, to consign the Boks to the scrapheap for 2011.

The Wallabies won, alleluia, but it was a great win because it was a match played against a great team. Obviously the Boks went missing in the first half at the very same time the Wallabies had a veerrryy-long-awaited golden spot. But what sort of side then makes it back from 6-31 to gain the lead?

I don’t think the Boks will win 2011, of course. But I don’t think they are as bad as we’d like to believe.

We got a good look at Mr Rocky’s hero-suit. And it wasn’t purple.

Stunning Wallabies win finally breaks hoodoo

What do you mean about Barnes and Faingaa? Who wouldn’t have given him a yellow? Had I been at the ground I would’ve run on and given him the card myself if Barnes hadn’t.

Because we won I was reminded of the Sydney 2000 test between NZ and Wallabies. The kiwis ahead 24-0 in next to no time and then clawing our way back, only to see the kiwis win on fulltime (Lomu was the culprit). Last night was similar in some respects, in terms of the amazing spectacle it was. It wasn’t entirely similar though, mainly because of the ridiculous errors that were happening on field with the Wallabies in the second half. Otherwise it was certainly a classic that, as you say, deserves to be enjoyed in its own right.

I liked Burgess, too. And I am not a fan of Burgess at all. But he has a wiser head on his shoulders now and seems to have learned to pass. But you say Genia waited too long at the back of the ruck. True, but Burgess was also guilty of this at times in his brief stint. At one stage he actually had a face-to-face conversation with Pocock (I think) while the ball was at his feet and the Boks were hammering the ruck. That was at a stage in the match when the Boks were taking us by the throat.

Do you think Kurtley’s kick would have made it without the altitude?

You’re a crack up, Mick. Jockstrap cam indeed. Nobody needed a cam to see Elsom’s butt-crack though. It was hanging out so long that I thought he must have been about to get his temperature taken. Full credit to him though for holding his own in that tackle. A lesser man would have been much more self-consious.
