The AFL is a business.
Nigh on every business has one goal. Make money.
The don’t care how.
And the AFL, like any other business, doesn’t not care about their customers nor their employees.
Everything they do is about image/marketing and promotion to bring in the holy dollar and placate the egos in charge with big pay cheques, power and (supposed) social standing.
While they’re making money, incompetence, inconsistency and pure stupidity will be ignored as much as possible.
You really want change?
Don’t buy the product!
Because not one person in senior mgmt (AFL or otherwise) gives a toss about anything but their petty egos!

As if “society” is either an excuse or an argument to embrace dictatorial behaviour….

Just because “society” wants to embrace totalitarianism through speech control doesn’t mean I have to like or accept it.
If you do, that’s your grave to dig

Maybe the “anger” is purely based on politics?
After all, way too many people follow a side in politics without thought

Maybe there’s a case for the T20 franchises having to pay a fee to access foreign players which goes to that nation’s board and is used purely to develop and retain Test cricketers?
Eg: if an IPL franchise pays Holder $450k for a season, that franchise also pays a 20% premium to the WICB?
This could be done on a sliding scale. Eg:
Australian, English and Indian players attract 5%
Players from the next three ranked Test nations attract a premium of 12%
The remaining test nations receive 20% of each players fee.
For the Windies an extra few million a year would enable them to pay bigger contracts to keep Test players away from T20.
Furthermore FC teams having a requirement to contract two foreign players (and play them) would expose players from all around the world to different playing conditions, coaching methods and cultures; surely a good thing for all involved.
Again, that would need limits on where those foreign players come from to stop the Big 3 abusing it for their own needs.
But whatever the solution to saving Test cricket and making it prosper it needs the Big 3 to stop looking at their own greedy desires and looking at Test cricket as a whole across the world.
Somehow I doubt those three nations can actually be unselfish in the face of the god of money….

Aussies face huge call over batting experiment with Smith and Green failing again as Windies turn Test on its head

Why do any of those three nations get anything?

Australia play nearly half their Tests against England and India - to save the game, that needs to change

Greed is killing Test cricket.
And, no, not the players from poor nations trying to get ahead. Why should they give up the chance to get ahead?
It lies purely at the feet of those running cricket in Australia, India and the UK.
They don’t give the proverbial about the future of the Test game, but only their bank balances, and those of their sponsors.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 24: How will the Bulldogs let their fans down this week?

May he learn fast that all the accolades around him and the Brownlow do not mean he doesn’t actually need to work hard to break a tag.
Several times Saturday Maginess was metres away involved in the play and he just stayed put instead of trying to put real distance between and making Maginess work.
The kid may be super talented but he needs to learn how to deal with real pressure.

Might as well practice his diving too.

Footy Fix: If you're not terrified about your team facing the Hawks yet... you should be

May win a Brownlow, but a long way off being a player that handles pressure

The AFL is big business.
Never heard of any big business that understood what INTEGRITY was….

TOM MORRIS: Footy has never had less integrity - and the AFL wouldn't have it any other way

Just to clarify things….
Effectively an accident caused by a team-mate = no sanction.
A football action (accidental or deliberate) involving an opponent = suspension.
An accidental football action involving an opponent and influenced by a third party = suspension.
A deliberate head hit by an opposition player = possibly a lessor sanction than an accident, possibly equal, but never worse…
…and a gutless jumper punch = a fine.

I predict three suspensions for “dangerous tackling” and one citation for an off the ball cheap shot.
What I can’t predict is how many less weeks the cheap shot will get than any of the tackles…..

Nothing but propaganda: AFL showing pathetic leadership failure on the tackle issue

Not surprisingly Dillon, like most people in senior roles, has no idea about anything that affects their employees or customers.
Many live in a little world bounded by their own vanity and narcissism, not interested in anything but their own position and pay cheque

Nothing but propaganda: AFL showing pathetic leadership failure on the tackle issue

For 100% fairness that action should cop 3 weeks every time it’s done in a game.
So approximately every 3 to 4 minutes…..
