To be honest the Aussies just haven’t turned up since the Bairstow and Members Room incident. They’re a mentally fragile bunch. It’s no surprise we fell short this test, our batting will always be fragile with MMarsh at six. Sure he’s done well this series but he’ll always been hit and miss. At the end of the day his first class record and test career record so far doesn’t lie.
It won’t surprise me if we’ve ruined Cam Green’s career, partly due to a poor preparation of hit and giggle cricket but you could probably say that’s his fault. It’s not like he’s going to play much shield cricket if any going forward either now as he’s made himself known to all the franchises. As some have said he’s also been poorly used and now dropped.
Some have said this has been a great series but I think the opposite, flat pitches to suite Bazball.
It’ll be a series which will be remembered as a series which the Aussies threw away due to mental fragility, poor captaincy and most of all poor and gutless selections.

Wonderful Woakes and Bairstow stunner sink Aussies as ball change debate, Stokes catch howler end Ashes in drama

Its a joke Neser hasn’t had a game all series.

Aussies Bazballed again as Root, Bairstow and Crawley power England towards series-levelling win

This also means England haven’t had the ern for well over ten years. I think this will make it 12 years by next series. ????

Long to rain over us: Ashes safe, Aussies out of jail as fifth-day washout denies England series-squaring win

Most commentators will say how unlucky England were and the rain saved Australia. However, there was also a slim chance that M Marsh could have scored another hundred and maybe Cam Green as well. They’re both batsman, Carey can bat when he wants, Starc is good for a 20_30 runs at times so we still had a bit of batting in the sheds and therefore could’ve put the Pommies under a bit of pressure as they were no garentee without the rain although heavy favourites yes. Well done lads, now lets make the necessary changes and take it home 3-1 😁

Long to rain over us: Ashes safe, Aussies out of jail as fifth-day washout denies England series-squaring win

Poor bowling to the tail again from Cummins. Who would’ve thought? Didn’t learn from the first innings. Gee Boland has been disappointing, surely Nesser comes in for him. The less said about Warner the better. Potentially could put Marsh in his spot and bring back Green. Marsh wouldn’t do any worse than Warner opening with his aggressive style. If not then Harris or Renshaw will do a decent job. Fantastic bowling from Starc, nearly won us the match.
If only Smith and Marnus weren’t so stupid with their shot selection we’d be 3 nil up. Hopefully the wake up call we need.

Ashes alive: Brook, Woakes, Wood the heroes as England clinch thrilling run chase despite superb Starc

They will unfortunately keep Warner win, lose or draw. They’ve penciled him in until the end of the Australian summer when he retires. 😔

Head's heroic half-ton gives Aussies fighting chance as England quicks make hay in seam-bowling heaven

Warner IMO has not been the same batsman since he brought in this back and across skip he has been doing, he’s been doing it for some time but back when he was getting runs I remember him being quite still at the crease. Everyone knows he needs to go except the selectors obviously.
I can also see us squandering this series if we don’t fire up and make some early inroads tonight/tomorrow. It’s a defendable lead if we bowl well but given the weather the poms will go full tonkers with the bat. Unfortunately this one is the pommies to lose.
I am also amazed at the inability of the modern day bowler to bowl a consistent Yorker instead of constant short stuff. Especially when batsman like Stokes are hitting out. Lets see Mr Stokes try and hit a Yorker for six.

Disagree on Stokes. I’d pick Cam Green any day of the week. Clear advantage to us there if Green stays fit.

Ashes clashes: The 11 key areas that'll decide battle for cricket's famous little urn - and who comes out on top

I wouldn’t say the pitch was a complete road. There was a bit of turn there for Lyon and Ashwin at times. I thought it was a very similar wicket to the ones we played on in Pakistan. It definitely wasn’t a 3 spinners wicket. I would’ve dropped Kuhnemann and played Morris, it’s a shame he didn’t get a game all series. He should at least be on the A tour to NZ. Great way to destroy a bowlers rythym by not bowling for 8 weeks. Very well done to the boys though for the improvement they showed after the second test. A few years back we would’ve crumbled under that sort of pressure. If only we bothered to have some proper preparation with a warm up game or two. What could’ve been?

Head, Labuschagne steer Aussies to safety as thrilling series ends with a whimper thanks to disgrace of a pitch

Who’s surprised by this result? When you go to one of the toughest places to bat and bowl as a foreign cricketer with no preparation at all except hit and giggle pyjama cricket what should we expect. Unfortunately these days that’s the norm and why touring teams offer next to no resistance.
Yes changes should be made but I doubt it will have any different outcome.

'Poor all round', 'There's got to be changes' - Mr 16.95 Warner needs to be put out of misery after Aussies caned: Talking Points

I know they won’t but could play Cam Green as a batsman. Looked bloody good yesterday with a broken finger.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Lyon starts new tradition for us tailenders as Carey helps Aussies show no mercy on Proteas

I’d be happy if nine of these names got a gig in the test team. Holland for mine doesn’t cut it.

No rush in Australia's succession planning

Weak effort by Australia in that second innings with the bat. I expected more from our batsman on that pitch which wasn’t a dustbowl by any means. The selectors won’t have the balls to do this but I’d make a couple
of changes for the summer ahead:
1. Henry Hunt in for Warner. Hunt deserves a good run in the team after his brilliant hundred for Australia A.
2. Maxwell/Aaron Hardie in for Head who clearly can’t play spin so needs to be dropped to work on his spin game.
3. Jimmy Pierson in for Carey.
If only there was a deciding test to clearly decide the better team giving that both teams got belted in the matches they lost.

Aussies annihilated: Spinner stuns with 12-for on debut as Sri Lanka romp to innings win

I think Steve Smith is underrated. After his hundred the other day his batting average is back to above 60 after 87 tests I think. Our best batsman since Bradman.

'Well and truly in this game': Aussies still believe as Chandimal century, missed chances have Sri Lanka on top

The Lankans only lead by 67 runs so if we can get a few quick wickets early on day 4 I think the odds will slightly be in our favour. To me this pitch isn’t taking much spin yet compared with the first test and with our strong batting line-up with a back in form Smith and Labuscagne I think we’re still in with a sniff.

'Well and truly in this game': Aussies still believe as Chandimal century, missed chances have Sri Lanka on top

Smithy is getting to fifty and getting out a lot lately. He’s going to start getting called “Joe Root” soon.

DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues

The Pakistanis might have felt bad with us having no preparation so they might’ve prepared a road for the first test and treat it like a 2 test series.Very Kind of them 😁

'It's an absolute highway': Takeaways from the first Test

If Cam Green is injured i’d rather Marnus and Head or Smith to bowl those overs rather than a bits and pieces player who would only weaken the team like Marsh. He’s not needed anymore IMO.

'Maybe Mitch Marsh', 'Swepson deserves chance': Calls for bowling revamp after stalemate

We’ll have to bat poorly for them to get 20 wickets on this pitch.

Pakistan v Australia, Day 2: Azhar Ali's 185 overshadowed on an emotional day for Australia

Yes. Usually when teams declare in the first innings they have 500-600 runs on the board. Call me optimistic but on this pitch with our batting lineup I think we’re still in the hunt.

Pakistan v Australia, Day 2: Azhar Ali's 185 overshadowed on an emotional day for Australia

I reckon we did well to keep them under 500 on that batsmans dream. Hopefully a good innings with the bat on the way.

Pakistan v Australia, Day 2: Azhar Ali's 185 overshadowed on an emotional day for Australia

He looks like a hit the deck bowler. If the pitches take uneven bounce and keep low he could be handy.

'Some tough calls': Cummins forecasts selection headaches as quicks vie for Pakistan Test spots

Green is more than “cover” in IMO. He’s pretty much another front line quick the way he’s going.

'Some tough calls': Cummins forecasts selection headaches as quicks vie for Pakistan Test spots

I think We will win the series. Our top 4 is probably the best we’ve had over the last decade with two
of the best batsmen in world cricket in Smith and Marnus ( maybe 3 if you include Warner although his overseas record isn’t great). Also Head has hit form and nailed down the number 5 spot and Cam Green is quite an exciting prospect at 6. We all know how good our bowling attack is it’s just a question of who do we leave out if we decide to play 2 spinners?
Should be a cracker of a test series.

Will Australia be able to cope with spin-friendly conditions in Pakistan?

How goods the depth in our fast bowling cartel? Bloody brilliant I think. Bowlers coming out our ears.

FLEM’S VERDICT: Cummins will learn from declaration error but rain was reason Aussies didn’t win Test
