At Fremantle bland is beautiful, and it’s always Monday morning.

Their ball movement is so boring that it zaps them of their own energy. When they were 4 or 5 goals down against the lowly WCE they chipped the ball around. This bruise free football is not good enough. A just turned 19 year old, in Reid, embarrassed Fyfe. No wonder Damian Barrett says “they are falling away”. They looked timid and they didn’t break tackles. This style may beat some teams at home but it can’t win in September. Damian Barrett says “there is genuine concern there”. 9 goal score lines don’t cut it.

Fremantle over use the handball because they don’t want to kick it inside 50. They are slow to get it inside 50, and they try and score off a stoppage. They tend to play keeping off and they end up in trouble. They don’t want to give the opposition the ball so they go sideways rather than kick the ball inside 50. If the opposition goes quickly inside 50 they will expose Fremantle.

This team will never get Friday night games playing this way. Players won’t want to stick around at this club.

This team needs a massive culture change. The ‘at least we are not bottom 4 attitude’, that wafts over this club, like a bad smell, has held them back for 29 years. Encouragement awards, and patronising back slaps for trying don’t cut it in the big league.

Apologists for this club point out that this club has made a grand final in 2013. As Matt Groening points out, no one remembers second place.

Longmuir is not the person to take this club forward. His time is up.

Fremantle Dockers? More like the Fremantle Shockers!

A rapid recap of AFL Round 6: Blues make a Giant statement, Magpies turn Power out and Eagles sink the Dockers

It’s about time that Fremantle are put in the spotlight.

On average they are only capable of scoring 7 goals a match. As Kane Cornes correctly points out, if you are ahead by more than 7 goals you win the game.

Defensively they have been alright in their first 3 games, but since then they have dropped away. They have now lost three games on the trot, including their embarrassing performance against the lowly Eagles. The Eagles have struggled to score over 50 points a game, however they scored with ease against Fremantle.

Longmuir (yes Dr witty rejoinder, I know it’s Longmuir, but the predictive text took over, and I didn’t proof read the comment) is not up to it. His game plan is negative and taxing. What is worse, is that neither Longmuir nor the players know how to implement it. If you are going to live in the space of restricting scoring you have to know how to ice the game. Against Carlton Jackson hit the ball into general play which allowed Carlton to pounce. Clubs like Collingwood, Carlton, and Sydney force continued ball ups.

This game plan is not going to win over fans, nor is it going to get Fremantle a prime Friday night time slot.

This club has been in the competition for 29 years and has nothing to show for it. Their trophy cabinet is barren. They live in football purgatory, and soon the bottom is going to fall out.

They have 2 rucks, in Jackson and Darcy, however neither can play forward. What is the point of this. Carlton have 2 rucks, but Tom De Koning can play forward. That’s why it works at Carlton.

This club has continually lost good players who have chosen to go elsewhere. Cerra, Acres, Schultz, Hogan, and Lachie Neale come to mind.

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

Your injuries are to geriatrics who should be putting their feet up in the Dalkeith retirement home.

As Kane Cornes pointed out, everyone knew you should be rebuilding, except your team, and you hung onto your aging stars. They should have been moved on years ago. Your board, and coaching staff are responsible for this quagmire. Enough is enough.

When the Eagles finally took off, the Cats stalked its pray and the Bulldogs lost their bite: A rapid recap of AFL Round 5

The Eagles have not taken off. They beat up on side that ended up having 10 players out, with Broad going down during the game. They were always going to win this one. The test is if they can back it up, or if they just a bunch of front runners/ downhill skiers/ one way runners/ flat track bullies.

I will reserve praise for this club until they can show that they can score more than 50 points on a regular basis, and win more than 3 games.

We’re still waiting for WCE’s surge.

All coached by Wayne Kerr.

Why would he hang around at a club that is worse than Fitzroy? Continual beltings will derail his development. When the suitors come, and they will, he will walk. He will want to play in a premiership, and WCE are years away from finals, let alone premierships. The introduction of Tasmania will set this club back even further. Harley Reid is marketing himself.

Melbourne should be both the tankers and the merchant bankers.

Well actually, your best key forward is no match for the one we are missing in Lynch.

If WCE cough this one up heads will have to roll.

The excuses have run out at West Coast. Two years into a rebuild, and you should be winning this.

I think you are right. They have no excuses. This is theirs for the taking.

The Eagles get a free hit this week end against Richmond. Questions would really have to be asked if they can’t beat an injury ravaged Richmond at home.

West Coast have been in a rebuild for a couple of years, and have the number one draft pick. Reid is auditioning for his Victorian suitors. Don’t believe the jumper tug, he is selling himself to highest bidder. He would be a welcome addition at Punt Road. Richmond have just begun rebuilding, and are still learning a new game plan.

This will be West Coast’s only win of the season. Eagles by 24 points.

We definitely agree on this. I had nothing against North getting them, however WCE need them too. The AFL make policy on the run when it comes to priority picks, and no one knows where they stand.

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

Yes, I am aware of the soft cap.

The AFL may have to step in and give WCE priority picks, if this season goes completely belly up.

WCE need to go hell for leather to secure the services of Dean Cox. It would be best to oust Simpson now, and have a caretaker coach take over.

Swans are a good side, and they are my tip for the premiership, but yesterday they couldn’t handle our pressure. Our risk taking and attack on the ball paid off.

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

Maurice Rioli Jr came of age yesterday. Lefau showed plenty too. People also forget about the players we had out. Yze wants us to take risks, and it’s taking some adjusting, but yesterday things fell into place. This risk taking makes our brand exciting.

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

Yeo, Barrass, and Hunt should not be playing this poorly. Witherden, and Gaff are so poor that they have been dropped.

The style and effort are not there. They have $82 million in the bank and they could have gotten a new coach two years ago.

Across the board, young and old, the players are not up to it.

The born to rule attitude is killing this job. I am sorry magic doesn’t happen when you pull on an Eagles jumper, They have not recruited a player of good calibre. Hunt is no longer the player he was. He would struggle to get a game in a good club.

Falling away all the time is not good for the development of the youth. One goal in 3 quarters is unacceptable.

The WAFL team has been a disaster for 2 years. The West Coast ruck situation is a problem, as they’re forward and back line. Their fitness is a joke.

West Coast should be named the “deplorables”. This club is worse than Fitzroy, and if they were a Victorian club there would be talks of relocation, or merging. How long can this go on? Enough is enough!

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

Today we saw 2 teams in a rebuild have completely different afternoons.

One of the rebuilding teams knocked off the potential premiers, through sheer grit and determination. The other team failed to fire a shot. Week in week out this team fails to score 50 points or over.

With the latter team, I am not seeing the emergence of any green shoots. It’s going to be a very long hard season. They can’t defend turnover.

Worse times are coming because they haven’t been to the draft. They only have 3 top 10 draft picks. Despite his 3 year contract, Harley Reid will leave if these beltings continue. Performances like the one today do nothing for the confidence of young players.

Yze has a plan, and it was on display today, whereas Simpson is passed it. He has lost the players, and his time is up. Players want to play for Yze whereas they don’t for Simpson. West Coast are 4 years into a rebuild, whereas Richmond are 1 year in, however we are already looking better.

I couldn’t agree more. The best jumpers are the simple ones. Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fremantle, Geelong, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda, and Western Bulldogs all have iconic jumpers.
Hawthorn have the right design but their colours are shocking.

Tradition comes up trumps: Why the Tasmania Devils are perfect for the AFL

No way. Fremantle have a great jumper. Their old jumper was childish, and it had too many colours.

Several clubs need a jumper overhaul, such as Gold Coast, GWS, West Coast, and Hawthorn away jumpers that have cartoon characters on them. I expect Dimma will push to change Gold Coast’s jumpers.

Devils ready to raise hell: AFL's newest club goes back to the future with traditional jumper as stadium furore rages on

I was very happy to see that they adopted an adult jumper. Some other clubs should follow suit. It’s time do away with cartoon characters, big G’s, and McDonald’s fries box designs. Keep it simple and adult.

Well actually, persisting with a coach who took you to a premiership back in 2018, is living in the past. Hanging onto players who should be in a retirement village is living in the past.

Replacing one lot of arrogant blow hards with another, anchors this club to their born to rule mentality. It’s this mentality that lead to this clubs downfall (read: too good for COVID hubs, the kings of the west fantasy, Simpson’s pro private school elitism, whoever dons the blue and yellow is a champion etc etc etc).

Six Points: Meet the AFL's dumbest team, and the most ridiculous ban in MRO history

Well actually The Eagles won the 1992 premiership. I thought you would have known that. That’s why I said it’s not 1992 anymore because your team is stuck in the past. I should not have to explain this.

Six Points: Meet the AFL's dumbest team, and the most ridiculous ban in MRO history

Kane Cornes quite rightly pointed out that the time for congratulating West Coast for being competitive is well and truly over. This is a competitive competition and being competitive is a minimum standard.

Homer Simpson needs to be shown the door. This club is an embarrassment to the competition. The rot began in 2020 when they cried about the hubs, and it continues to this day. Simpson has lost the players.

Harley Reid’s development will be impeded if this club gets belted week in week out. Don’t be surprised if he does a Horne-Francis.

Enough is enough! It’s not 1992 anymore West Coast.

Six Points: Meet the AFL's dumbest team, and the most ridiculous ban in MRO history

In all seriousness PTS, I don’t think the hangover will last. The Pies will bounce back. As an Aquarius I can’t help but stir the pot. It’s all brickbats and no bouquets in my world. Secretly I was happy for you and other Pies fans that I know.

You have played 2 teams that will be contenders this year. We won’t really know how the season will pan out at the moment.

Footy Fix: Don't panic just yet, Pies fans... but there's now a blueprint to bring the premiers down

Like a hipster from Brighton, who has decided to get tanked on Saturday night on the other side of town. club Collingwood find themselves lying face down on the corner of Hopkins and Leeds Street, in a puddle of spew, on hangover Sunday.

That’s one hell of a hangover!
