Humility cuts both ways: Brett Clark and the QRU deserve the same scrutiny as Hamish McLennan

no, it’s not a load of rubbish Twas. You can argue it’s not state against state, fine, but the article has a lot of very interesting quotations and facts.
And the thesis is sound, although I do disagree with some of it. How about being a bit moderate in your argument mate. I know you’re perfectly capable of it.

Humility cuts both ways: Brett Clark and the QRU deserve the same scrutiny as Hamish McLennan

I think the point is that it’s still a non-government school and one that does have an excellent rugby program. The Queensland chairman said the private schools have many young potential Wallabies in their first 15s that these schools have coached and developed and gotten to a very high level. How is it possibly the private school’s fault if these players that they have developed then choose to sign a contract with the NRL.
Queensland rugby union and rugby Australia are letting these players slip away. The private schools are doing a great service for Australian rugby. Remember, private schools do not exist to benefit rugby union in Australia. They only play rugby union because it benefits the school. They have nothing in their charter that says they are bound to promote the broader interests of rugby. that’s not what the parents are paying fees for.
Great article, even though I disagree with some of it.

“Meanwhile, McLennan’s demise has been warmly welcomed across the ditch.”
What a surprise! Anyone who think NZ rugby or their fans have any concern whatsoever for Australian rugby is a naive fool. Plenty of them too.

COMMENT: 'Best interests of the game'? Hamish's dummy spit proves RA was right to cut him loose

Public schools are welcome to adopt rugby but there is virtually no interest from them in doing that, except in small pockets with high Pacifica and Kiwi expat populations. Even then, nothing of real substance results.
There has been substantial efforts and resources put into attempts to get rugby into public schools but there is simply no real interest to facilitate that within the schools themselves. I saw this first hand when my own sons played for a suburban club in Goodna/Springfield. Great clubs, 90% expat Kiwi and Pacifica, no interest whatsoever despite significant efforts to get the local public schools on board. Rugby league, AFL and soccer rule the Australian mentality.
It’s got nothing to do with ‘elites’ running the game.
Most of those kids recruited to private school rugby end up going to league. How is that the ‘elites’ fault? Without the private schools, rugby in Australia would never have risen to the heights it has. It’s scapegoating by people who refuse to recognise the reality and want to ‘punch up’ and blame some mythical ‘elite’ conspiracy.

ANALYSIS: McLennan's fatal blind spot, and why his exit leaves Australian rugby in a better place and a worse one

It’s up to the players who they elect to represent them. Not you.

Ridiculous to say that makes him conflicted. It makes him perfect for input. He wants the best for the players.

Surely the greatest ‘moral victory’ possible over those sad, whinging poms.

CHAMPIONS! Head's heroic ton, bowling brilliance sees Aussies crush India for SIXTH - and best - World Cup win

Explain how Justin Harrison is conflicted. The Chair doesn’t pay the players. Ridiculous statement.
The private school sledging is tired and old. I respect people from any background, if they earn that respect.

Thorn has ‘won’ very little as a coach. His win/loss record was horrible overall and declined steeply in his final 2 years.

The only way is up, baby - What the next Wallabies coaching setup should look like

It was Castle that took us from a $45m broadcast rights deal to a last minute $29m deal (brokered by the current chairman). Thats $16m in a few years. Add that to her salary and then add the M$$$ paid to Folau to assess her ‘contribution’.

Castle turned down $45 million. What a dud.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

And all of this is the direct result of league having a purely domestic focus while rugby is focused and centred around the failed competition known as Super Rugby.
From that focus flows everything. The strength and importance of the domestic competition flows through to every level below.

Youtube works well for the football (soccer). Pretty much every match in Queensland from tier 1 (NPL and WNPL) down the ranks (QPL1, QPL2, 3, etc ).

The 2023 Wrap: Man who was 'dropped from heaven' and the abject s--t show that followed in his wake

Australia can’t win unless they adopt ‘bazball’. An Englishman told me that. Because with Bazball you can’t lose, ever, whatever the score, irrelevant. England are the real winners of this tournament. Just ask any Pommy.

I bet he wouldn’t be a ‘second grade player’. That is Kiwi thinking. They can afford to be arrogant. They have the All Blacks and everything that means. We don’t.

NRL powerhouse target Wallabies young gun as replacement for Suaalii

Not interested in navel gazing. Just get on with it. Certainly not interested in hearing 300 amateur armchair experts tell me how it should be done.

'An experienced 10 would have helped': Wallabies open up on on failed World Cup they'll have to 'live with'

He pretty well right. I wasn’t alone in thinking Quade would be in the team. I think his experience would’ve been invaluable and he’s a great mentor as well. But I will never know maybe it would’ve been worse. No point worrying about it now, gotta look to the future.

Ok, thanks for the info. I am really looking forward to watching him and the others Jez.

Reds have lost TT. So the ‘international muscle up the front row’ referred to in the article will have to be pretty bloody good compensate.

I don’t agree with Campo that men should never cry. But t’s just a game. Save your tears for important things.

Rugby News: 'Men don't cry' - Wallabies legend's saddest outburst yet, plans revealed for Club World Cup

John Connolly opened up my chin in a 2nd grade match at Crosby Park in 1985. With a boot. I was at the bottom of a ruck. I may or may not have said something along the lines of ‘oh boy they’re bringing on the geriatrics now’ when John, the captain/coach came on as a replacement in the second half. The Brothers club doctor stitched me up under the grandstand and gave me a can of XXXX to send me on my way.
might be a few Roarers who would like to give me one on the chin too.
Always have great respect for this guy. His positivity can be infectious.

Rugby News: 'Be courageous' - Eddie's come and get me plea to Japan, Bongi's dig at 'sad' reaction from 'first world country'

No, ‘the entire rugby community’ isn’t focused on taking a scalp and hanging it on public pole as revenge for us losing to Fiji and Wales.
The past 6 months have set Australian rugby up for a new era. If we can untie ourselves from the main cause of our demise, the failed and destructive monster know as ‘Super Rugby’, the game can prosper in this country with a strong domestic focus. Like every other successful code here and around the world.
