There is obviously an agenda that is driving a merger or at least for the Rebels to be history.

As a Tahs fan I would love to see the Rebels and Brumbies top the table

Brumbies shut down talk of following Rebels into voluntary administration

I stopped reading at “Eddie.” …

Go Rebels and glad not single dollar is going to Mr Jones moving forward

'Want to show rugby isn't dead in Melbourne': Rebels skipper's fighting words as Eddie calls for 'hard decisions'

Thanks Nick!

Let’s get back to the rugby, and let’s try to forget everything else that is going on.

Your complete guide to the Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women's pre-season trials

100000% No disrespect to Larkham and co, but we need someone like JS

Greg Martin’s opinions are just that… there is a reason he is not commentating on Stan Sports these days.

'We'll sack him and be in the same position': Ex-Wallaby condemns Larkham snub as Schmidt deal CONFIRMED

Great call,

I am not putting down the rest of the candidates, but we need someone with experience who is going to bring structure, discipline, and rugby brains.

After the Eddie debacle, this is exactly what we need.. he will be judge on results but what coach isn’t

One thing is for sure, there will be lots of coaches wanting to work with him… unlike Eddie

'We'll sack him and be in the same position': Ex-Wallaby condemns Larkham snub as Schmidt deal CONFIRMED

We can debate for ages about centralisation, number of teams, structures, etc…

But at the end of the day HE picked a squad with very little experience and with some questionable choices. ALSO his coaching squad had next to zero experience. AND THATS ON HIM

Watching the Laurie fisher barbarians play over the weekend got me thinking about all the good coaches that he could have picked.

The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer

Thanks Nick,

It is going to be a while before I can start enjoying the game again. The only thing I want is for the BS to stop, concentrate on the next game, and win OR play well. This 4 year cycle is BS… If that is the norm why bother watching in between World Cups…

I really feel for the players, there is some great talent out there.

'We feel lied to and taken for fools' - the decisions (and consequences) of 2023 could haunt Australian rugby FOREVER

Hi nick.

Thanks for sharing. You and I have had many interactions social media and I always enjoyed your input and comments. I still so angry about the whole thing. I said it last year the Eddie was the wrong choice, like him or not he is polarising and he has such a negative effect on everything he touches. I’m not going to pretend that I k ow more than him BUT even I could tell that he took the wrong squad to the WC, it doesn’t matter now and talking about his selections is pointless now… but what I do want to mention is that this team doesn’t know to to score or defend, we look clueless and that was not the case with Rennie. No disrespect to any of the coaching team that joined the campaign but Jesus the amount of great coaches we have floating around and none where an option? That says. Lot about Eddie.

I’m checking out for a while for my sanity and won’t be watching the rest of the tournament, I rather forget the whole thing is on to be honest. I’ll be back next year when SR kicks in and will be back supporting the wallabies next year… I can only hope that RA and co understand the damage they are inflicting.

Ps: don’t mind losing games as long as we put a fight and play like a team that knows how they want to play. We don’t have that at the moment. Also I’m writing this rant on my phone so apologies I’m advance.

Awesome, thank you!!!

Who caught Eddie's eye? Swinton, Pietsch star in 'underwhelming' Aus A win over RWC rivals Portugal

100% it’s easy to be critical from the sidelines. Both teams played an amazing game and although I’m happy the brumbies won. Credit we’re credit is due saves and co almost had it. I’m often guilty of mouthing off on twitter after a game and honestly it’s in the heat of the moment. Saves gets interviewed straight after the game and I thought he did really well.

'I scored it, brother': Ardie chokes back tears after 'disagreeing' with ref as Brumbies deny the 'Canes again

And that is exactly right, and as mentioned above by Mirt is knowing when to take them. They had the Landers on the ropes at that point. We all know that momentum changes throughout the game, and the Reds did not capitalise on their momentum.

Two issues the Brumbies need to address urgently – plus one they can’t control at all

The wife wasn’t too happy, but hey, you have to do what you have to do 🙂

Two issues the Brumbies need to address urgently – plus one they can’t control at all

100% and it is probably a good thing the reds will get a new coach with fresh ideas. They need to understand how to make the most of their momentum and when to to take the 3.

Two issues the Brumbies need to address urgently – plus one they can’t control at all

Hi Bret,

The kicking by Aus SR teams needs to be addressed; whether it is choosing to kick a penalty at the wrong time, lack of kicking together, OR abysmally kicking, it is hurting us.

Firstly – The minute the Reds kicked that penalty goal to go 3 in front in the second half, I knew the game was gone. The Reds went away from what was working so well for them. The Highlanders were always going to come hard at them. The occasion to farewell A Smith with a win was too important. Incidentally, taking JOC off for a clearly underdone Hunet P was madness!

Second – Tahs general kicking was POOR. Who is the kicking coach? Who is chasing the kicks?!. That Try By the Saders halfback says it all. Aimless kick down the middle, and the Charlie Gamble and Co just walking through the midfield, letting the full-back have a free run was all I needed to see. As much as I love the Tahs they are a mid table table and nothing more.

Also, Marky M gun player but cool it with the offloads. When they are on, they are ON… but not every single play.

Brumbies – I was at Vivid, so I watched bits and pieces on my phone. Funnily enough, all the Chiefs tries. For a team that is supposed to be the smartest in Aus rugby, they looked truly out of sorts to me. I did not see one single smart kick, and that kept the Chiefs guessing, time and time again, trying to bash the line to no avail.

Oh well, there is always next week!

Two issues the Brumbies need to address urgently – plus one they can’t control at all

So happy we won!

I took my son to his first-ever SR rugby game, he is 3, and he had the time of his life. The stadium is awesome and he got to meet Tah Man and Tah Girl. They were super friendly and accommodating, well done Tahs…

Now we had no business winning that game, but I suppose neither did the Landers, so we’ll take that one. Lots of relieved faces around me, and the crowd really go into the last 10 minutes.

Anyway, bank that one and move on.

Donaldson has regressed this year, and PLEASE practice your kicking this week!

Back 3 are fine, the kid at 15 needs to keep playing there; other teams know about him now and will test him every game!

Langi Gleeson = Beast!!! He is probably our most important player!

Ps: Big shout to the Highlanders supporters, always friendly and up for a bit of banter, AND always gracious in defeat!

'A real grind': Waratahs keep season alive by winning ugly against Highlanders

And unfortunately, we won’t see significant improvements for a while. Nothing against the players. I know they are giving it 100% but the skills are not there yet

The Force, Rebels, and Waratahs have six weeks to break losing habits with the finals still in reach

Morning Bret,

As always, spot on!!! I wonder how long before you have a Stan microphone in hand…

My concern with Australian rugby revolves around the lack of third-tier or no NRC. It’s not practical to have players learn their trade in Super Rugby, where they only get a handful of games to play with the “big boys.”

Club rugby is a different ball game, and it’s far removed from the professional setting IMO. Some fans might argue that club rugby is where it’s at, but when someone who’s unlikely to go pro is playing first grade, it speaks volumes about the standard of club rugby – and I know someone who is playing 1st grade this season that has little or no chance of going pro.

If anything, club rugby should commence either before or after Super Rugby. Consider Perese, who had to play six rounds of SR rugby to find his rhythm after his injury – and still hasn’t by the way, he had no option but to play with no club comp to go to.

Players can’t be plucked from clubs to play in Super Rugby and given only a few games to prove themselves worthy of a contract. It’s not the solution, and until we address this issue, we won’t see any improvements.

Injuries and suspensions are inevitable, but we need players who are prepared for the next challenge. No amount of training can substitute for real match experience.

Watching the depleted team play against the Blues was painful. Unless we establish a stronger club competition that aligns with Super Rugby or the NRC or a mini Super Rugby AU after SRP that helps players get ready, we won’t break our losing habits.

Rant over 🙂

And yes I will be there Friday and whoever turns up for the Tahs better turn up!!!

The Force, Rebels, and Waratahs have six weeks to break losing habits with the finals still in reach

Hi Brett,

It looked like a better crowd than last year, but as I pointed out in another thread, the Brumbies Blues should have been the “Headlinging” Act. Finishing with the Reds vs Force was not the bets way to end the weekend, and no offense to those teams, but kiwi fans probably didn’t stick around.

Lots to like though!

Wet fingers and guesstimations have Reds and Rebels with the most Australian upside

You are right

Work to do with the scheduling still.

Game of the round Hurricanes vs Rebels IMO

The Wrap: Another Super Rugby Round of hits and frustrating misses

Indeed big shout to the Pacifica fans. Love having them in the comp!

The Wrap: Another Super Rugby Round of hits and frustrating misses

There were some great games this weekend 🙂

Also really enjoyed the concept; there seemed to be more people there than last year, which was good, and the crowds for Friday and Saturday were good (Although they could be much better)

They need to work on the schedule. Finishing the weekend with Reds vs. Force was not going to attract the fans. Blues vs Brumbies should have been the closer.

Love it, it’s that time of the year!!! Go Tahs!!

'Our House': Coach's crazy bonding exercise as Waratahs sleep at stadium ahead of Super return

I don’t disagree with you, but my point is that DR coaching gig was on the line, and he KNEW it!

As Doctordbx mentioned, it could have quite easily been 0 – 5,

Anyway is 2023 now, and Rennie is gone and we get EJ, let’s hope all goes well

The Wrap: Rugby Australia get their man but at what cost to their 'junk bond status' reputation?

I completely agree that Rennie should be leading the WC charge. Again I am not a fan of EJ, but he is in charge now. Let’s wait and see what happens

If DR didn’t know that winning against Italy was crucial for his chances of staying on, that’s on him.

The Wrap: Rugby Australia get their man but at what cost to their 'junk bond status' reputation?

Correct, in fact that was a game RA expected us to win and we didn’t, Hamish and Co would have been filthy with that result.

I am by no means saying we should have put 50 on Italy, but we should have won that one.

Italy were up for it we were not
