No mention of the famous Mark Taylor non-selection. Looking at the balance of the team Mark Taylor was going to be picked as Mathews was in the squad already and Greg Ritchie was forced to open in what would be his final test. I don’t think Ritchie had ever opened for QLD.

There would be a great book in a warts and all Greg Mathews biography. So many players from this season were soon discarded by Bob Simpson such as Hookes, Ritchie, Mathews and Zoehrer.
