Can’t see how Cleary gets a four. He forced two errors that were a big part of NSW first half dominance. Guess you need someone to bag in a team that if you are fair all performed well above a pass.

NSW Blues player ratings: Origin 2

Norway were clearly the better side and congrats to them. Lydia Williams – who was outstanding – and the woodwork kept the Mathildas in it. Our women haven’t showed the level of composure and used the time they’ve had on the ball effectively throughout the tournament. Only three shots on target in 120 mins.

Sure the pre tournament coach debacle can’t have helped either but if we are honest the European game has risen and we need to step up markedly to be competitive. That said, our women continue to out perform the men’s side. Congrats to the whole squad for the effort and intent and making the round of 16.

Matildas knocked out by Norway in penalty shoot-out

Latrell had one poor game. This is not how you build the next generation and a new era. Didn’t see today’s game but post match report says “kicked five from nine goals, scored a try, had three tackle-breaks, a line-break and two offloads against the Bulldogs”. Very, very, very disappointing. Queensland will be delighted. Didn’t realise Freddie was such a fan of the national anthem.

Mitchell axed, seven changes for NSW Blues Origin 2 team

Brazil’s forward line will carve us apart on that showing and we can start packing. Hopefully the women’s inner belief and skill rises above it all on Friday The Mathildas have been my favourite Australian team to watch for the past few years until Staj got knifed. What a disaster. When the dust settles, the FFA needs to be called to account for sabotaging our golden generation.

Matildas disaster was what we've come to expect from football

Great listening – half an hour gone in a flash! Looking forward to more GoC…and debating the future of John Longmire asap.

Introducing The Roar's brand new podcast - Game of Codes: Australia's biggest sporting debate

There’s another potential death match on the weekend…John Longmire will be wanting the Swans to show some life and kick a decent score along the way to demonstrate to Sydney fans his side still has a pulse. Otherwise, knives will be drawn and begin to be sharpened.

Death-match at the MCG

Great read and bang on sentiment. We never met but thanks for your faith in, and support and guidance for, that young Jeffers guy.

A long time in sport: Reflecting on the best of the last three years

A farcical state of affairs. Like getting ready for the ball and finding you are a week early. Awkward. Momentum killer. And a leg up for ever-dull NRL.

Dear Gill - it's Father's Day, and there is no footy on the TV!

Swans take on their bogey team. No certainty to top the Tiges. But sure not with so much at stake??

The top four is still unclear. So what is most likely to happen?

Queensland pick a team of winners – a combination of smart skilful players and smart tough players all who will die for the jersey. Dylan Walker has showed he lacks football smarts each time he played time origin. The new Bird was sharp. Easy selection that one. And more like it please.

Swing the axe, Laurie - NSW cleanout must start immediately
