Re point #5. You obviously didn’t watch the Swans v Dockers game. Swans took complete control after qtr time with only inaccurate kicking keeping Freo in it.

You really shouldn’t be writing comments on things you’ve no right commenting on or at the very least, do your homework properly.

AFL Top 100: Round 18 round up (Part 1)

Yep dear old Gil and his cronies at AFL HQ, putting the fans LAST since 2014….

BTW great idea RichieTiger, think in particular it would be a boon for Suns.

The AFL needs to stop treating Swans supporters like vampires

Richmond could never be considered true champions of the game until they can win away from the MCG – a feat they just cannot achieve.

Back-to-back premierships a feasibility rather than fantasy

Great article Sean, best laugh I’ve had on The Roar in ages!

Hope your predictions for the remaining games are as accurate as your one from last night.

Harsh predictions for the first week of AFL finals

As a passionate Swans fan, I love your full finals predictions Josh and hope you’ve suddenly become psychic!

The Roar’s AFL expert tips and predictions: Finals week one

I’m a crazy Swans fan but I totally agree with Cat, the GF should always be played at the MCG regardless of who the combatants are but Geelong should get to play all their finals at Kardinia.
It is ridiculous and very wrong that the team coming second have to forgo their hosting rights and play their first final at the home ground of the team that came third – there is no rhyme, reason or logic to this decision apart from dollars in the pocket of the AFL.
Will be interesting to see what will happen if GWS end up having to host the Swans in a final this year. Will the AFL spend the estimated $500,0000 on getting ANZ reconfigured? The showground is very obviously too small but to force The Giants to the SCG would be grossly unfair.

UPDATED: AFL finals fixture 2017 week 1 - Who plays who, when and where

Agreed Salty.
Swans top 6 is arguably the equivalent of any team in the comp and I’d think their next 10 would be as well, but we drop off sharply with the bottom 6 and will need a big performance from them to beat even a depleted Giants at home on Saturday. Mumford is definitely key and we need Naismith to bring the same game he brought against Gawn if we are to have a chance.

Mumford key in AFL derby midfield battle

Brilliant that our magnificent captain (hopefully) brings up his 200 where it all began for him, at the MCG against his old club. After a shaky start he has become the strong captain we all knew he would be, lifts when he needs to and most importantly, brings his team mates along with him.
Deserving of the Norm Smith last year, was the best player on the field by a country mile, but I’m glad he didn’t win it as it would have been a hollow win.
I love that my team, after losing those first six games, didn’t sit back and work on a high draft pick, instead they have chosen to fight the season out and if it all goes pear shaped from here, that’s life, they gave it a red hot go!

Go Swans!

Longmire: Swans taking it one quarter at a time

Except they don’t have a first round draft pick this year so the only team that would benefit from them tanking is St Kilda!

The AFL ladder is total mess. Which teams are set to capitalise?

Yep

GO SWANS!!!!!!!!!!

It's not easy cheering for the bad guys

Disagree with momentum being with GWS. By the time they hit the paddock on saturday, the giants will have only played 1 game in 28 days, the doggies will be lining up for their 3rd.

Bulldogs coach has dig at Spotless prelim

Yep I have to agree with your rankings there Tim.
As a Swannies girl it breaks my heart to say this, but its looking like a straight sets exit for the second year in a row for my boys. We not only lost Tippett and Mills, but the ready made replacement for Mills – Zac Jones, was knocked out cold in the NEAFL GF (another Swans loss to GWS) and will not be available next weekend.

AFL premiership rankings: Giant leap shapes the finals race

As a Swans member I have had the pleasure of watching Mills all season and it has been an extremely enjoyable view. It’s easy to forget that this kid is so young when watching his fearlessness and decision-making during games and I will be very disappointed if he doesn’t win the award.
Having said that, I’m sure Carlton and Doggies supporters in particular are saying the same thing about Weitering and Daniel. I believe the winner will come from one of these three but as you say, it’s an incredible field this year.

This is the best AFL Rising Star crop we've ever seen

Hardly comparable games – Hawthorn at home as opposed to Swans playing away at Norths supposed stronghold of Blundstone Arena.
So in answer to your question, no Swans are most definitely not a 30 point poorer team than Hawks.

Highlights: Franklin scare in Swans' win over Roos

Wow Nick, probs should have waited to write this till AFTER the game.
Was Membrey even out there in the second half when the Swans turned the screws? I’ve watched the game twice now and don’t recall seeing him when his team really needed everyone to stand up.

Do you Remembrey this guy, Sydney?

The Lions should bend over backwards to get Stewie Dew up there next year.

He has served an excellent apprenticeship at Sydney under two brilliant coaches, is extremely popular with the playing group and has proven in his role as midfield coach at the Swans that he has what it takes. Another handy helper is that he also understands the problems of coaching a team in a city where AFL really is the poor relation.
I believe he would be the shot in the arm the Lions and their fans so desperately need and unless the AFL have a Roos/Demons plan in mind (and I struggle to think of anybody that would fit the bill) I think Dew would be perfect for what must be one of the hardest tasks in footy atm.
As a Swans fan it would break my heart to see him go, but he deserves a senior post and I can’t see Longmire going anywhere for a while yet and we still have some terrific assistants waiting in the wings.

Brisbane need change, plus other talking points from AFL Round 20

Can someone please tell me why Fyfe should either get off or only get a fine for his strike on Duryea, when three weeks ago everyone except Swans fans were baying for blood for Tippetts strike on Grimes?
Both were simply clumsy spoiling attempts, both connected high and both resulted in no injury.
The only difference that I can see is that one player has no chance of winning The Brownlow and the other player is the favourite.

Big AFL names to face MRP scrutiny

Kev if you are going to use a quote as an argument, be man enough to use the COMPLETE QUOTE ~ Goodes said earlier he was shattered but did not blame the teen.

‘Racism had a face … and it was a 13-year-old girl – but it’s not her fault,” Goodes said

Does the Adam Goodes drama expose a racist underbelly in Australia?

Wow, some wonderfully ignorant posts here.
Fact ~ On Saturday night the booing at Goodes was far louder than the booing at Buddy.
Fact ~ Goodes had no way of knowing the age of the person involved when he called out the perpetrator of the racial taunt at the Collingwood game.
Fact ~ Once he did find out the young girls age and situation he immediately got before the media to implore that she NOT get her name and image plastered across the country.
Fact ~ He didn’t raise the booing issue after last Saturdays game the media did.

I have no more idea than anyone else as to why Goodes is booed and personally believe it to be more tall poppy syndrome than racial and I think it was worse against Hawthorn as the “family club” (the Manson family) supporters followed each other like sheep!

Does the Adam Goodes drama expose a racist underbelly in Australia?

Please desist with the COLA garbage, it’s becoming so tiresome and boring and makes an otherwise reasonable and logical post turn into an Eddy type rant.
The COLA is gone after this year and Eddy and his little mate Gill have made sure we won’t be getting any favours from the huge financial outlay of the academies, so what on earth will you VFL fans have to complain about the Northern clubs then?
Surely with what has happened with this years NRL State Of Origin has highlighted that the Sydney sporting landscape is vastly different to the Melbourne sporting landscape and that the Northern clubs need assistance that traditional Australian Rules states do not.

Western Australia and Sydney could dominate AFL finals in 2015

Silliest comment on AFL football ever written.

[Highlights] Sydney defeat Hawks by four points in grand final rematch

I was there also and agree on both counts, if we flick the ball around like we did on Saturday night, The Hawks will gobble it up. We need to bring the same intensity we took to the Port game, otherwise we will be putty in Hawthorns hands.

Swans out for grand final revenge this Saturday night

The future of all four Northern state teams will have a cloud hanging over them if the purposed changed to the academy bidding process goes ahead.
The only way to build real, solid performing teams in the non~traditional states is to get as many local products into the team as possible, yet Eddie the idiot cries foul and Gil the goat jumps on the band wagon because the Swans have been fortunate enough to have two gun players come through their self funded academy two years in a row, never bothering to look that this is an anomaly and will not be the norm. There are some good kids coming through the Swans academy but nothing the likes of Heeney and Mills, yet the shadow jumpers in Melbourne want to cruel the future of AFL in the Northern states by limiting the ability of clubs to draft home state kids.
It just defies logic.

We need to talk about footy in Queensland
