Yeah he certainly can’t play anywhere else on the field, but as I said in my original post, the Swans players for the most part are nothing if not versatile.
If Bud were sub and Saturday night happened again, Cunningham moves up to defence and Papley up the ground. Only my thoughts as someone who has never kicked a ball in anger, but I do believe Bud still has a place in the game.

Lament for a champion: Thanks for everything Buddy, but time to say goodbye

Personally I think Buds best place for the remainder of the season might be as the sub.
He can certainly play out a full game if needed, but if he can come on and play just a qtr or so, he could prove a real weapon.
The Swans have the versatility of players to rearrange if an injury happens up the field, but a fresh Buddy coming on after 3 qtr time would be the stuff of nightmares for a tiring defender.

I wish I could like Davicos comment one hundred times over as it is so factual it’s beyond imagination.
The way the media and sites like this fawn over the Victorian clubs is sickening.
The author actually picks The Swans yet in the articles introduction, only allows for a Geelong V Collingwood or Lions V Collingwood GF – ridiculous.

2022 AFL preliminary finals preview: Can the Cats and Pies keep Victoria's flag hopes alive?

Of course not, but they did what they needed to do. Fifteen minutes from the end Swans were up by 60 odd so Longmire started icing the likes of Parker, Franklin, Papley etc, obviously they had achieved what he wanted.

AFL Round 21 power rankings: Was this Collingwood’s Waterloo?

So Sydney having won five in a row, doing what they need to do, drop a spot and stay below Melbourne who can’t win two on the trot? I get the Collingwood elevation, totally warranted, but on current form Melbourne are below Sydney and any person without a Victorian bias can see it. And in what universe have Melbourne recovered from their mid year slump?

The article I referred to was the Cameron Rose article – The unsung heroes who can deliver a flag for Geelong and Melbourne. In that article he specifically says the Swans can’t win because they are too inconsistent yet Melbourne have been the very model of inconsistentancy, particularly as the season has progressed.

BRETT GEEVES: Crows' disturbing truth, GWS in all sorts, and an apology to Joel Selwood - every team's state of play

Thank you for actually noticing there are other teams capable of winning the flag apart from Cats and Dees, reading most other articles on here you’d never know it.

Gee Cameron, lucky you’ve told me that my Swans are TOO INCONSISTENT to win the flag this year, save me a fortune on finals tickets.
Maybe you can explain to me then why my team is – in your words TOO INCONSISTENT, yet looking at the last 10 weeks, The Swans have won 7 (5 of which against top 10 sides), lost 2 and had the bye with a current winning streak of 4.
Melbourne on the other hand have won 4 (2 of which against top 10 sides), lost 5 and had the bye and are currently on a 1 game winning streak.

Ummmm who’s INCONSISTENT????

So the Swans drop a place playing a great brand of footy with a win in a top notch game over a top eight contender and Melbourne rise a place by thrashing a team fighting hard for the wooden spoon that me and my kids could have beaten.

Could the fact you hate the Swans and they beat your lot have contributed to this ranking?

May I ask why South Melbourne and Sydney Swans are listed as two separate entities?
Unlike Fitzroy they were not a merged entity, South Melbourne were relocated to Sydney and the South Melbourne Football Club history is very much a part of the Sydney Swans history.

Ranking the most successful clubs in AFL/VFL history

Yep thats how i see it too.

The AFL finals race has been blown wide open: Who sneaks in?

8. Essendon (last week: 9)
Another team that pulled out a phenomenal win on during a stellar round of football. Essendon, like others, have been up and down this season, but a win like that keeps their finals chances open; it’s up to them to dictate their fortunes though.
You’re kidding right? Phenomenal win???? It was right up there as the luckiest/ best umpire assisted win of the season.

2019 AFL power rankings: Round 15

Sydney pushed them hard a few weeks back at ABCDEFGHIJK stadium and they are playing better footy now.
Not saying Sydney will win, but I don’t think it can be pencilled in as a win to the Cats just yet.
