Poor but enthusiastic player. Follower of Wallabies since 1963, with waning optimism for the game in Oz. Hopeful for a Messiah.

Sorry to hear that Cooper’s pulled out. Can’t blame him after all the rehab and effort he committed to based on his implicit inclusion, and his performances since, which, while not exceptional, were with promise and consistent with his situation. I believe we will regret his exclusion given the probability of injury to the only specialist five-eight and that player’s inexperience, and Cooper’s undeniable superiority to the alternatives.

In my opinion there were two forward passes in the Qld early try which were ignored, so the disallowed Qld try, which I disagree with, was a balancing poor decision. Rebels deserved their win over Qld who, imo, have always felt a bit entitled to rugby supremacy. I feel for Brad Thorn who, like good NZ coaches in Oz before him, have found working with inferior cattle and lack of support, makes for an impossible job.

'They've got that wrong': Reds denied in wildly controversial finish as Rebels hold on in epic comeback win

It seems to me that the winning streak might be over. The penetration in attack, and the distraction of the opposing defence, afforded by Kerevi, was a major factor in our wins. McMahon was still finding his way back, so not quite the loss. Koriobete is a huge blow. The Japan game said a lot about the missing Kerevi factor. The doubt surrounding availability has been farcical.

'They were nervous': Rennie confirms Kerevi, McMahon, Hodge OUT of spring tour and serious doubt over Quade

My immediate reaction to this is negative. Why do we recruit from league at the expense of emerging talent in the game? How does this affect the aspiring footballers who have remained loyal to the brand who might otherwise have a look-in? – they’d be mightily pissed-off I’d say. Thoughts?

Shame he won’t be there to get his come-uppance.

That is a very sensible argument, in my opinion. The reaction to the Oz SR was one of greater interest and enthusiasm, and generated more optimism in our own rugby. All missing for a long time. A refreshing read in content and readability. Thanks, and well done that man!

What can Australian rugby learn from constantly losing?

Ben Pobjie has said it! I have been looking for an adequate description of the tragedy/comedy some time myself. A very funny, and accurate summary of the Wallaby supporter today. Thanks, Ben.

You think you know pain? We are Wallabies supporters, doomed to live in hell forever

What happens if there isn’t growth, as appears most likely: more sackings?

Could the Waratahs deliver the upset of the season?

An adverb is called for here, therefore “correctly” is right, and “right”, being an adjective, incorrect. “Rightly” might be a little off course.

Could the Waratahs deliver the upset of the season?

Yes, no need for the offensive comments. With you, Jacko.

Is Brad Thorn our next Wallabies coach?

The more informed commentary the better. For too long we’ve had verbal drivel, inappropriate puerile humour and irrelevancy during matches, probably driven by lack of knowledge, personified by “Clarkie” and his mate “Shaunie”. The commentary during the recent Irish/French game I thought was how it should be.

Michael Cheika is back in Australian rugby - as a commentator

His pre-injury form seemed to have been lost but he was improving I thought. He’ll have a lot of competition when he returns.
