Your last sentence…yes depending on the state of the deck and the score in the series…but it will be based on scoring potential and experience in the men’s game and therefore validated.
It is that experience component the women lack. They do not play red ball cricket and as a result their tactical approach is based on their white ball experience…how could it be anything else?…or is a little more guesswork (the long spell of King and lack of rotation with Jonassen and the seamers an example).
I am not negatively critical of that, this is purely an observation.
And, it would be interesting to find out the rationale behind the declaration…it was great but I wonder if it was more comfortable for Meg because it fitted into a format she knows back to front…a run target in a set amount of overs.

Cornes' backlash concerns spark women’s sport debate while criticising Lanning’s tactics, AFLW standards

Why would you contract somebody who would be involved in the NZ series? Because COVID has disrupted our world for the last 18 months, that’s why! And that is exactly why I said they should have taken that risk if they wanted him so badly.

It doesn’t have to be the same standard as the men’s, it just has to be the best standard for the women.
It isn’t purely designed to compete with the men’s it is designed to appeal to a major proportion of the population (women) and provide an avenue for them to engage with the sport by playing it. The follow on benefit is increased potential numbers of fans of the men’s game.
From a community sport perspective this also has benefits. Women’s teams are increasing and club’s see advanatages from that…increased social functions, F&B revenue, school connections, funding etc.
The women’s elite level competitions play a far more complementary role to the established game.

Other teams took that punt on a wasted spot…why should the Sixers get special treatment?
Mistreated the BBL? Do you mean by increasing the number of games and making a mediocre competition even more boring. hastening the demise of the concept? Yeah, I guess I’d back that.
It’s a shame they couldn’t learn the lesson from 50 over games where saturation killed it.

Pretty simple really.
The Sixers decided not to contract him, even though in this crazy COVID world you’d think you’d cover all your bases, especially if he really is that important to them.
Now when they find out they could have him but are blocked, they have a cry? Especially when they didn’t want anybody else to have him so followed the LRP rules and didn’t name him?
Seriously, they can quit whining and get on with it
