I feel like we’re in an eerily similar place to the All Blacks of the early 2000’s, where our backs could pretty much hold their own against most other backlines, our forward pack was mobile but on the small side and our scrum seriously suspect. It took years to identify and develop world class scrummagers like Carl Hayman and re-establish the fear factor. We could be on struggle street for the next few years I think.

Where did all the Kiwi locks go?

Never saw enough of him tbh, but he reminded me a bit of Shane Bond, both players careers probably derailed early by injuries I guess.

But without doubt he would have been one scary mofo to face on the crease.

Dale Steyn was sheer fast-bowling beauty

Hmmmm… these pitches are gonna’ play like a minefield, potentially we’ve gone into the series a spinner or two short.

Surely the Blackcaps must have know this going into the series considering what happened to Australia?

Honestly the thought of cricket at the Olympics does absolutely nothing for me.

Over the last few decades especially, the mystique and aura of the Olympics had faded from the public’s view. The unearthing of rampant doping, questionable “amateur athlete” credentials, endemic corruption and blatant commercialisation have all damaged the brand beyond repair imo. In many ways, instead of showcasing a country’s talent and innovation, recent Olympics have only highlighted shambolic organisation, social problems, environmental destruction and dysfunctional governments (Rio or Greece anyone).

Cricket already has a global platform and presence in multiple formats, we do not need to associate the game with an outdated and increasingly irrelevant movement.

A Brisbane Olympics? Cricket should be included

As a life-long All Blacks supporter, it really is a shame to see the Wallabies reduced to this. I’m not being sarcastic. My question is, is the game in Australia now at the point of needing some kind of radical intervention?

Is there a mechanism available for removing the Chairman and the Board, and replacing them with an interim one while fresh administrators can be found? That’s what needs to happen, because to me they seem largely anonymous and ineffective in their roles. It’s very, very odd, and I can’t imagine how soul destroying this must be for serious rugby fans in Australia.

There is definitely something mentally off with the players and the Wallabies culture, it must be obvious to all Wallabies fans. But a toxic culture can be healed over time. A good example is the All Blacks culture towards the end of the Deans and Mitchell era, fuelled by post match binge drinking and bad behaviour. Graham Henry and Tana Umaga came in, and look what happened.

What do other Roarers think? Is there anything practical that can be put in place in the next 2-3 months by someone in the right position, and with the conviction and will to make a change? I’m not suggesting that the brand can be resurrected in such a short time, but starting the process alone would be a huge step in the right direction.

Wallabies frustration continues with loss to Wales

Ridiculous gap in skill levels blatantly obvious in this game, the Force would probably get owned by Senior NZ club teams. You have to ask what value keeping the Force going would benefit the competition in their current state.

Ridiculous gap in skill levels blatantly obvious in this game. Honestly, the Force shouldn’t be in this competition in their current state, no wonder they’re facing the axe.
