Does anyone know if Joe Root attended the game?

'That's the pinnacle': Cummins’ finest moment as captain with bold tactical gambles dismantling Indian juggernaut

I’ve really enjoyed reading your comments peeps. Insightful as usual.

I wonder when the criticism of Cummins’ captaincy is made, who specifically is he being compared with? Ponting? Waugh? Taylor?

He’s a better tactical captain than, in my time, Yallop, Hughes, Border (who improved slowly over many years I must concede) and Paine. He’s on a par with Clarke and G Chappell in my estimation. And miles better than most captains of other nations that have toured Australia. (There’s not enough ink in my keyboard to name them all.)

The best outcome for the rest of the comp is that the Tiges fall into the 8 and loose the elimination final by a goal. Will set them back 10 years.

Footy Fix: Tenacious Tigers run the gauntlet and fight the good fight - but the house always wins

George Bailey is s’pose to have a good cricket brain. I would hate to see someone with a bad one then.

Selectors should be in firing line if Warner gamble costs Australia the world Test trophy and Ashes urn

The Tiges sold the proverbial farm for, at best, what can only be described as two “good ordinary footballers”. I’m sure GWS can’t believe their luck. As Kerry Packer said, “You only get one Alan Bond in your lifetime. And I’ve had mine.”

Outside of Bolton, do they have one mid on their list who is likely to be a superstar (or even a star)?

Hardwick's shortcomings are being exposed: Richmond's inability to win close games falls on the coach

Norf are 12 months into a rebuild, Carlton are 25 years into theirs. I’m backing Norf to win a premiership before the Blues.

Footy Fix: This record stat shows how Blues butchered the Roos - but why did it take a half to try it?

It’s entirely possible Boland never plays another test.

BRETT GEEVES: Boland's crushing of 'veterans fifth grade' England might not be enough for another Test

Thanks for the brilliantly researched article Gordon. A serious amount of hours went into this. Well done Bro.

As a Demon of 45 years standing, I’ve never seen a premiership, only heartache. I’ll only believe we’ve won it when the final siren sounds on September 26, 2021. Six straight is a wonderful achievement and defeating last year’s two grand finalists along the way verifies that we belong in the eight . . . somewhere. Nonetheless, the pace-setters this year has been the Dogs and the Power. I won’t be convinced we are a grand final chance until we perform against both outfits.

The Deez have also had the benefit of, in the main, having their best 22 on the park, certainly last week against the Tiges. This surely won’t continue and a further test will be how we respond to top class opposition with two or three of our most important 12 players out.

I wonder if one dived even deeper into your data Gordon, what patterns would surface with respect to the impact of injuries on sides that got out of the blocks quickly? For instance, Im pretty sure Essendon’s 2000 season was free of any major injuries to their best 18, whilst Norff’s was completed derailed in 2016 by the injuries to Jarrod Waite (who was arguable in the best form of his career), Todd Goldstein (arguable their most important player), Stott Thomson and Shaun Higgins (probably their second best mid-fielder at the time).

Anyways, thanks again for some brilliant work here Gordon.

What does the unbeaten start from the Bulldogs and Demons mean?

What makes this a gift that keeps on giving for the rest of us is the utter denialism that permeates this organisation from top to bottom and has done so since 1958.

Collingwood are an unstable rabble

Comments haven’t aged well Tiger supporters.

The Demons are 5-0 - is this a drill?

We are very easy to beat . . . three point plan:

1. Go hard at the man with the ball . . . we’ll cough it up and turn it over relatively easily. We just do not have composure and even half reasonable disposal skills under pressure.

2. Surround the playing cluster with outside runners . . . dish the turnover out to these players and you’re away. We are slow and incredibly lazy to work defensively (despite what you hear from the so called ‘experts’ in the media).

3. Block, harass, and get inside Weideman’s head. He’s straighten us up since he’s been back in the team . . . but he doesn’t have confidence in his own ability and is mentally very fragile. Do not underestimate Weid’s importance to Melbourne’s structure.

FROM 2020: 'No flag this year, but Melbourne are back on track'

One earns respect by being humble, self-effacing and dignified. Nuff said.

Margaret Court: the champion Australians never loved

Good article. And while we’re at it . . . why is Warner immune from the axe? His career stats against good opposition outside Australia are appalling.

Why Australia must drop Nathan Lyon for the third Test

Warner’s career stats away from Australia against good opposition are appalling. Should never have been in the touring squad and certainly should not play in Leeds.

Australia must drop David Warner

Maxwell should never play for Australia again. And selectors in Victoria should be rubbing their chins as well.

It's time for Glenn Maxwell to step up

Should never play for Australia again.

Dropping Glenn Maxwell against England would be a huge mistake

Absolutely brilliant analysis of the situation.

Bairstow blames pitches and media as England struggle

You are spot on Les. The AFL (Affectation Falcity League).

Ten weeks for Jaidyn Stephenson? You've got to be kidding, AFL!

please don’t knock our world champion Tiddlywinks team.

Melbourne will never be in thrall to rugby league, and that's marvellous

That’d be the city that has more professional sporting teams headquartered in it per head of population that any other city on the planet. You mean that metrix?

Melbourne will never be in thrall to rugby league, and that's marvellous

Geez . . . very resentful about Melbourne arn’t we??? One way to know the truth has been spoken is to observe the opposition it receives. Wow!
