At the Sharks AGM on Wednesday night, this exact same question was asked. The answer was, the club presented its draw and game day options to the NRL, as did the TV rights holders. Who gets what is ranked, TV #1, NRL #2 Club preferences #3. Irrespective of kids wanting to see a local derby on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, they put those on at 8pm on Thursday night so school is a write off next day, or 8pm on Friday night, so Saturday sports is a write off next day. And we wonder why crowds are down. Most Sunday afternoon local derby’s would be a sell out.

NRL kick-off times are not fan friendly - is it possible to have both big crowds and bumper ratings?

I’d like to see a good barrister challenge these arbitrary sanctions. Doueuhi was punished by being Sent Off. He was further punished by being suspended. Common Law says you cannot be punished for the same crime twice.

RLWC Daily: Maguire confirms future, France down debutants Greece, Doueihi and Milford cop bans, Huge ratings for England-Samoa

This post doesn’t make any sense at all. The three games all have to be played, either at different venues or at the same venue. Those that come to see a 23’s or Reserve grade game can still do so. Those that just want to see a first grade game can still do so and perhaps come earlier to see some new talent on display. Costs ans overheads are the same nothing changes. No, the author must be a bit bored because he has not really thought about his musings.

Three grades in a day should never be brought back: Nostalgia for good old days that didn't exist

There are some fundamental problems with the game of Rugby League. That we applaud coaches who find ways to cheat or game the system is a major concern. That we tolerate bad behaviour from young kids with potential coming up through the juniors is the root cause of the anti social behaviour we see. It is manifested in alcohol abuse, drug abuse and misogyny. There should be zero tolerance for any person of any age who does not conform to social standards in our game. Golf is the Gold Standard for etiquette, rule compliance and adherence. Golfers often get life bans for behaviour that Rugby League types might see as boys being boys. Time the leadership who have stolen our game grew up and showed some intestinal fortitude and corrected this long standing blight on our game

We must all do better to address rugby league's harmful treatment of women

OK players, you choose. 1) Play footy and get paid. 2) Dig ditches.

Bitter legends have no right to dictate their codes

What’s a ten person rule? That’s only for funerals and weddings. At the end of may there will be limited rules.

Potential player boycott throws NRL return into doubt again

Gee, Ive seen Braith play some ordinary games in my time. Johnson has been a magnificent player for NZ over a fair time. Yep a crook game, but don’t bag the man for that. We know what he can do and will get plenty of opportunities to prove the knockers, wrong.

Shaun Johnson and the Kiwis slammed for 'diabolical' performance

You say the Trainer incident was the correct call by the Refs. I say if a try was scored as a result, the bunker would have deemed a penalty to Rosters as Kearys legs were taken out after he kicked the ball. The scrum was a bonus to the Raiders. Roosters were in fact dudded.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

Why should he be entitled to a discriminatory view? That takes the dumb comment of the week award.
I bought a puppy, I picked the cutest. I bought an apple, I picked the rosiest. I found a wife, I picked out the most beautiful and smartest.
I’m sorry for the puppies I discriminated against. I’m sorry for spec apples that ended up as juice. I am very sorry for all the ugly women that didn’t measure up to my wife.

Rugby union would be a more inclusive, kinder place without Israel Folau and his backwards views

Seated…..deep seated.

It’s a shame Mary that journalism has dropped to such a low standard in the country. Your contribution is a sparkling exception to that. The fact that at the end of the 2015 season, the Sharks lost…Todd Carney, Michael Gordon, Jeff Robson, Bryce Gibbs, Ben Ross, Nu Brown, Blake Ayshford and a host of lower grade players. They signed James Maloney and several lower garde players as well. So the furphy that the club was over the cap is absolute rubbish. The journalist who reported this is either a trouble maker, a fool or both, for he has no journalist integrity.

Cameron Smith's Cronulla complaint is crying over spilt milk

Rabbitz hit the nail on the head and so does AngryEagle47. I experienced the latitude and special treatment given to young players, first hand. Luckily injuries saved me from getting too effected. I also see first hand young and not so young ladies being totally inappropriate with muscular young men. Goodness knows what happens well beyond my bedtime after a thirst quenching session. If 60 is the new 40, then 30 is the new 18, because I’m certain that when I was just a bit younger and had wife, kids, mortgages and a business to run, I diddnt pee into my mouth, hang out with bikes or spend my spare time fawning over UFC kicking people choking them. You are right Mary, they are adults but they havent faced the real world as yet.

NRL players are adults - let's start treating them like it

A good friend does some work with players as a job. They recently did a similar job with the Invictus Games. That experience shone a whole new light on NRL players, attitudes and sense of entitlement. It showed the courage and humility of those who gave for their country and now give for their community and take not much on return. Perspective?

Jarryd Hayne’s alleged developments

Interesting article. Thanks for opening discussion on a long festering wound in Australian Rugby League. Don’t be put off by the nay sayers here, they get their jollies off by shutting down discussion they don’t agree with. One Sydney Team? There’s a larger population in the Sutherland Shire than on Townsville. Same with Canberra. Melbourne’s fan base could fit in the Cloey on Saturday night. That you don’t consider putting an extra team or two in SW Queebsland gives your argument t little cause for praise. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your rebuttal.

There are too many teams in Sydney. All but one must be culled

Gee Tim, I think your post says a lot more about you than Dugan. Players come and go for a multiple of reasons and some fans get butt hurt over innocuous things. To be still dwelling on events of 5 years ago is a real worry. Let it go. We don’t employ footballers for their brains and many have disrupted upbringings, yet we expect them to get bashed up every week on the field and it appears in media as well. I don’t know the dynamics of the Raiders circa 2013 but I know that it was a dysfunctional club back then. I would sit on a roof too to get out of that mess. Sorry, you’re still stuck with all that. Others have explained the SOO non event and I have strong feelings about the pod cast too. Ad I see that incident, it was precipitated by a ruddied complexioned serial exaggerator who lied about a wrestling incident between Dugan and Fifita. On the podcast they were asked about that story and its author. I absolutely agree with the terminology used. That doesn’t excuse the language but I view that as a discussion by two blokes in a pub or their loungeroom. There is a hidden disease with these elite players who get whacked around the head each game and we applaud that. Its blokes like you who contribute to the problem instead of being part of the solution.

Josh, you want a fair go? Start by saying sorry
