Being dangerous only when we get desperate is not good enough, we need to be dangerous all the time.
I think the players are there, but if Ian Foster can only get them up once in a while that’s not going to get the silverware that counts. The Boks must be kicking themselves seeing that big cup get lifted by a team that has won two out of the last seven or so matches.
For Bledisloe or World Cup success this is not good enough. Sorry Ian but time to bring in The Razor.

ANALYSIS: Desperate, dangerous All Blacks roar back as Boks get cute and get caught

As a Kiwi it is nice to be in the position of having a chance to HAVE them both at the same time if not for a long time, I think winning them both in the same year is pretty unlikely though.
The other option of course is that by the end of the year we could have NO world cups, so if we lose on the weekend we better go all out to hang onto the Bledisloe. We know now that only two teams can win the cricket one, but I think any of up to six teams can win the rugby one, the two finalists from last time being right in there.
Right now I’m hoping the English lads freeze in this like they did against Aussie in 2015 at the rugby one, otherwise they’ll be too good for us by some distance I feel.

The English or Kiwis winning both World Cups - what's worse?

Hi Neutral I was there last week (and this) and you are right, a Duke of Wellington quote after Waterloo sprang to mind post the ‘Canes game. “It was a damned near run thing”. They were great, as were the Jags. We red and black supporters feel nearly as battered and bruised as the players.

Six talking points from the Super Rugby final

Just got home from the game (Crusader supporter).
Up until halftime it felt like business as usual. With 20 to go in the game it had completely changed and we thought the ‘Canes would win, they were playing the better rugby and the ‘Saders appeared rattled and unable to make headway.
That the ‘Saders got home is down to a faultless goalkicking performance and a try that could have just as easily been muffed.
Great effort Hurricanes, Razor will be relieved to have got away with this one and there will be a real edge to training this week, and there’ll need to be.
The ‘Canes could have won this, I haven’t seen the ‘Saders under the pump at home like this for a long time.
An excellent game and either team would have been a worthy winner.

Crusaders hold off Hurricanes in thrilling Super Rugby semi-final

I feel that while the discussion at present on here is quite a lot around HOW! Izzy is got rid of (terminate or pay out), both of those scenarios see him lost to the game.
I wonder if there is any way a conclusion can be reached which is a strong sanction acceptable to his side but falling short of ‘terminate/payout’ which is also acceptable to the forces with their boot hard up Raelines butt and also the rugby community and the wider public.
From a Waratah/Wallaby perspective perhaps Izzy’s representatives could find a way through this so one of the best players in the game is not lost. Obviously there would need to be some understanding by the player that there is actually a problem. That may be the biggest challenge of all.

Israel Folau digs in for the fight of his professional life

Good summary Neel I was at the game and it was a really good game from both sides, Landers tried hard, Ben Smith all class but the Saders got some momentum and pulled away.
Mike Alaalatoa started in this one and I thought played really well, it was great to see him and Alan up against one another last week.
In my opinion (I am not an expert on prop forward play) Mike would be a very good addition to the Wallabies if they could get him back.

Crusaders get bonus-point victory over struggling Highlanders

You’re a little ray of sunshine W.O Elf, the fact that the game is going through a rough patch in Australia may mean it’s at a lower than usual ebb there but Australia isn’t the world.
As an A B (and Southern Hemisphere which includes Australia) supporter I am fully expecting Australia to be well in the mix as the bunch comes into the home straight at the WC, sure the NH teams are playing well at home now, what matters is who is playing well away from home in Asia next year.
History teaches us that in World Cups the SH are I think 7 from 8 and the NH well they’re one and done.
This is a long term thing it’s all right if they win another one we don’t all have to sulk and go off and watch 5 tackle kick instead.
Australia in my view are a coach change away from winning a lot of these games they may even click with him. The players are as good as the ones in 2015 (which isn’t a surprise as they’re mostly the same guys) and look what happened there.
On a final note can someone please define “the Australian Way” for me? Is it different to the French, New Zealand, Fijian, Samoan, South African way?

Has running rugby had its day?

AB supporter here. I was in England for the last World Cup and the day after Cheika’s team (with Bernie having a blinder) dumped The Red Rose out of their home tournament there were English jerseys being given away to homeless people by the hundreds. I predict the same scenario the day following this game.

Just a jersey or a reason for Wallabies hope at Twickenham?

AB supporter here Hugh, well done to your boys last week, a great effort. As to the World Cup, you could well be right with Ireland going to the final, it’ll be interesting to see how well the NH teams play AWAY this 6 Nations.
I don’t think we are the favourites now, but think that next year in Asia in humid conditions we will be right in the bunch when it comes to playing in consecutive weeks in neutral venues.
Also I feel the environment there will really suit Australia, often a very good team in tournament conditions in neutral venues.
The Saffas also a HUGE threat in this situation.
You guys, England, France, Australia, South Africa, the ABs. Some one’s got to go all the way. Can’t wait.

My way-too-early Rugby World Cup predictions

Fantastic game both teams, well deserved win Ireland you are the best team in the world right now I feel.
The 6 Nations this year will be very interesting, Ireland, France and England all look very strong at home the away results will be fascinating.
I reckon any of England, France, South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand could win this next WC with Australia in my view only a coaching change away from being in that group as well.
I’m an AB supporter with Ireland as my second team so I reckon I’ll come close to getting a win. England and South Africa huge chances though, the “who plays well away from home” factor is looming large as I see it right now.

Coming for the cup? Irish knock off New Zealand 16-9
