Would have to disagree about starting Luke Marshall he has been very average for Ulster. Henshaw and Ringrose will be Ireland’s mid field come the World Cup, so it’s key they develop at this level Ringrose in particular, who has alot of defensive stuff to learn. Personally I think Rory Scannell and Henshaw would be our best mid field, they could be a very good balance

Ireland is a team of glaring weaknesses

Nice piece Declan thank you

RIP Anthony Foley, 1971-2016

The whole of Ireland are heartbroken and Munster lost one of our favourite sons taken way to soon. I was only 8 when Axel won his first Irish cap, but I can still remember my dad roaring at the tv when Axel scored his first try. Ireland lost that day to England, but my dad was so happy that Axel had a stormer on his first Irish game that you would have thought we won. I’m to young to remember the start of Anthoneys career but I remember very well my dad speaking about him probably on a weekly basis. Axel will be missed by all and i don’t think the man could ever have know just how much joy he brought to every Munster supporter. Good night Axel you were a warrior for us and you will always be remembered when we look at the 3 crowns and stag of your might Munster

Ireland rugby great Foley found dead in Paris hotel

If Los Pumas play with the same intensity as they did against the kiwis they will cause serious trouble for the wallabies. They Argies will be more of an attacking threat than the Afrkians were

Wallabies brace for Pumas in Perth

That’s what I though but than I read pocock been moved to lock on two other paragraphs. Either way I think Chekia should be picking players in their primary postition pocock to 7 a real12 etc etc

Time for a Wallabies shake up

Pocock to lock!!!! That’s a strange one completely drop cooper that’s a bit strange also
Aus with actual locks struggled don’t think pocock is the answer for there

Time for a Wallabies shake up

Good read Oliver thanks. But I have to say I don’t understand why Chekia should be looking for another job he is a good coach that will learn as time goes on plus he is still fairly new to international rugby, I think the issue most people have with him is his selections. Which takes me to cooper foley combo, your the first writer iv seen to agree with this combo. Foley is decent when on form and at 10 but he is no inside centre and on attack and defence in the 2nd test the combination caused more damage than anything. Copper is an ok defender but with foley at 12 it’s asking a bit much. With the right selections things will click

Bledisloe Cup: The Wallabies performance was better, and that's what's worrying

They seem quiet happy with their strategic planning which you very nicely pointed out. But as you said some of the areas their looking to grow have been neglected for some time and already have big league or rule franchises. One thing I don’t understand is the ARU pumping money into the force, I understand just simply scrapping it ain’t fisable but how long can they keep supporting it if there is no profit or success with franchise??

Every Marine is a rifleman: Lessons for Australian rugby

I don’t mind his aggression what he said about the ref after the game was true, the thing I find extremely weird is his selections. At Leinster and the tahs he picked the right players and combos. But now I’m lost in who he is picking, Cooper and Foley is just one example, did he really think playing them would cause NZ problems? They are both crap defenders and Foley never played 12 while all along the recognised 12 is at 13. The Cooper Foley combo also had the Aussie defence everywhere guys trying to get into position to cover for copper and foley. At least pick a team with 15 guys that play regular footy in their postitions

Can Michael Cheika turn it around?

Great fecking read hit every issue, and you were right about Chekia and the player pool. I was only discussing it with Matt Williams today the mess the ARU is in. Only question is where do they start to do they start to fix things?? And who to fix it seen as most the ARU boys are quiet happy with their current situation

Every Marine is a rifleman: Lessons for Australian rugby

Okey dokey that was as enjoyable as it was disturbing

Kiwi-Nobbling: The only way forward for the Wallabies

I think it’s a bit early to be calling for MC head,ye it was a thumping aus took but all the blame can be put on Cheika players not tackling ain’t his fault, I only hope he makes changes and looks to breathe younger life in the team

Cheika failing, and it's time to talk about why

Hansen is a smart coach he knows loosing 800 caps since they last played will have some sort of impact on the pitch. Question is will it be enough to see NZ loose?? Maybe Hansen snapped because even with his selection headaches he knows those 800 caps will be missed

Bledisloe blow-for-blow: Why is Cheika putting the boot into Hansen?

It will be a cracker the one advantage I see aus having is the experience of Genia,Giteau etc etc but NZ knew this day would come without Mccaw or Carter etc but they have prepared well and have guys to slot in sadly I only see NZ winning the Bledisloe and RC

The first Bledisloe should be a humdinger

I really hope the lions win but couldn’t hate canes if they won they have been knocking for years, lions remind a little of the Irish province Connacht what Ackerman has been with lions for the last few years like pat Lam
I really don’t know how much the travel factor effects the team but the stats ain’t promising for the lions

Teamwork, brilliance and luck can bring the Lions the title

I hope they don’t win by 40points I could handle a loss but if Ireland lost by that much there would be a fair few questions asked and even a few careers could end as quickly as they started. Ireland should show up a put up a fight but I think the third test will be the decider

Ireland look to make history against Springboks

I think SA will sneak it. Great selections by Joe given a lot of youngsters a shot at this level he don’t stray to far from those he trusts that often. For me there is a few new combos and a very beefy Ireland back row that may expose us at one or 2 points during the game that may cost us. The Irish bench don’t have as much punch as lasts week bench, it will be a performance that we can proud of but a loss I reckon hope I’m wrong of course

Ireland look to make history against Springboks

To be fair not many teams have the fire power New Zealand have
France have great impact players but only in the forwards most teams probably have 3/4 players that can cause an impact, pick up the tempo grind them more with bigger bashers
And all this the coach gets to choose to suit his style that’s why we love the game

Why the bench is as important as the run-on side

I do worry about our backrow options the only 7 is Sean Reaidy and he won’t be thrown in there been it’s his first time ever with Ireland our other backrow options are all 6 and 8s
I think Ireland could claim a scalp if the employ the correct tactics and game plan but I fear the selections will hamper the passing game Ireland try to use like it did during the 6n

South Africa versus Ireland series preview

Very quick kid also has some power he has put on a bit of bulk but not effecting his speed and footwork
Joe had him in the Ireland squad in last years 6n never made it past the training paddock but at least Joe is aware of him

Schmidt adds Roux to thicken Ireland's squad for SA

I totally agree I would have loved to seen younger players in the squad or at least a few on form players, also agree about the lock position him and Sean reidy should count themselves very lucky to be going along

Schmidt adds Roux to thicken Ireland's squad for SA

Gilroy has the attacking ability but he is weak defensively that was exposed in the semi, Joe S has made some strange choices and I rate joe very highly and in my eyes he can’t do much wrong but this squad could and should have been different. For one I don’t understand the Ready call he is a 7 that has been playing 8 Ireland have better options for 7 Dom Ryan been one of them not to mention Chris Henry, Geordie Murphy will start at 7 which is another worry the kid ain’t a 7 a great 6/8 but not a 7. Not having Stuart Mccloskey is also maddenes he is the first centre of his kind available to Ireland in the last 10 or so years “Kevin Maggs” comes to mind as the last. Matt Healy and Tiernan O Halloran must also be considered TOH has been going about his business very quietly and excellent all season while been captain at times plus he’s been at Connacht as a starter when injury free for about 8 years or so and he is under 28years old quiet a shame Matt Healy has worked hard on his defence and could rip the boks apart so cant understand him not been selected. As for Quin Roux I’m speechless there are so many other options at lock for Ireland that are young and talented Ross Molony, Dave foley, Dan Touhy even mick Kearney has looked better. I’m worried about the tour I think Joe will go with the usual and the boks will have a playbook on what Ireland will do, I think Ireland’s defence will be better with Andy Farrell coming along but the lack of creativity due to selections will see the boks eventually run Ireland outta steam

Schmidt adds Roux to thicken Ireland's squad for SA

It’s crazy and worrying
I do wonder what the future holds for England
It does seem the Rfu and the clubs have a better relationship nowadays but having an international match the day after the English club final is a bit crazy

Ben Te'o has earned his stripes for England, but should he be wearing spots?

Sorry I was trying to point out the damage the LNR have done to the biggest union in the French rugby union
Your right the changes were not brought about by the international Unions

Ben Te'o has earned his stripes for England, but should he be wearing spots?

All you gotta do is look at the decline of the French national side in recent years. The top14 is single handed in destroying the national side. The entire top14 recruits for players abroad. The recent fiasco that happened with David smith is a prime example
