Nah definitely a couple of weaknesses. Happy with our gamestyle this year but think 3rd is flattering us. Main thing we lack is talls that can take a contested grab on the wings, and a small pressure forward with pace. Davey has the pace but needs some muscle, guelfi has the muscle but is a bit slow.

Footy Fix: Essendon have arrived... and it's time we all started getting absolutely terrified

Perkins and Durham may not be huge like tom green but theyve added a bit of size to the midfield set up, and along with caldwell have made it more defensively minded.

Lol “mental gymnastics”, pot meet kettle. You have a history of telling people to “learn the rules” when your team is the benefactor of poor umpiring /the AFL tinkering with interpretations to favour the attacking team, and then whingeing about the same issues whenever your team has a poor outing like last week. Youre as one eyed as they come.

Six Points: Bevo's Bulldogs reach breaking point, dangerous tackle loophole must be closed, and 2024's worst coach-killer

So above you’re complaining about them changing the interpretation of holding the ball this year but then okaying the previous change in interpretation for throwing, good one 👍

The dogs and dees have been the two teams most to benefit over the last 6 or so years by the AFL’s relaxed approach to holding the ball and throwing. Oliver and Libba are masters of disguising a throw and bont and macrae love dropping the ball as soon as they feel a tacklers arm. Youre only starting notice now because the dogs midfield arent first to the ball anymore so are doing alot more tackling without reward.

Think hardwick should definitely be in spotlight too. Starting to think he owes a lot to his great group of assistant coaches at the tigers. Its baffling that he chooses to employ a man on man defence at the suns when his tigers had one of the best defensive set ups in the comp

Yeah sorry when a team can come out and play like they did against the cats and saints and then pull out awful performances like the dons and hawks games that speaks to a playing group that picks and choose when to pull their finger out, which indicates to me bevo has lost the playing group. Even watching the hawks game in isolation, a bottom 4 team completely outworked the dogs at the contest. Its easy to win centre clearances when you have a stacked midfield like the dogs but everytime the ball was on the ground outside a centre bounce the young hawks were more hungry. Lastly your big point of contention is the dropping of caleb daniel, bevo himself said in last nights presser that they dogs just couldnt move the ball from the defensive 50, well gee i wonder why? You have one of your best users of the ball playing 2’s while hack kicks like bramble and JJ are in the seniors. Every other coach seems to understand that good decision makers in the backline are priceless except bevo. Amon, impey, weddle, scrimshaw and sicily used the ball far better than the bulldogs back 6.

He may not have literally made big promises but when you knife a coach who got a team into a finals series the year before and has just re-signed you are implying “I can take this team to the next level”, but now hes walking it back and talking about how the list is young and incomplete.

St Kilda in peril yet again - but are their problems due to Lyon's coaching or the quality of the cattle?

I do think he is a good coach but i think he overstates how much his system works regardless of quality of list. He forgets how many genuine stars there were in the 09-10 saints team and even freo. Now i would say there are three potential a graders in Wanganeen-milera, King (if he ever pulls the finger out) and Owens. Guys like steele, Marshall and wilkie are quality but arent going to be game changers.

The cattle is middling….but then why ditch ratten for lyon. He made big promises when he took on the role and now is backtracking at a rate of knots. He is one of the biggest self promoters in the game aided by his psycophantic group of ex-saints in the media along with footy classified colleagues like Wilson and Lloyd

There is no good side here. Both RA and Rebels board are incompetent at best. Can you imagine NRL or AFL not being across the financial situation of every single team in their competitions? The rebels have been a rabble since inception but a good governing body would have been on top of this a long time ago. Feel for the players that have been sold a crock

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

You make fair points but for me goldy has to stay in at the moment as neither draper or Wright can do the bulk of ruck work at this point. Plus it would be great for him to play anzac day after growing up a dons supporter. Hes known for his fitness so hopefully he isnt in need of a rest just yet. Just hope scott doesnt bring Wright in for a small, dont think we’d be able to keep up with them if we went that tall.

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

I dont think this will happen but personally I would play wright in the twos. He hasnt been in great form since coming back from the shoulder injury last year. He just cant take a contested mark and is a lumbering dinosaur once the ball hits the deck. Jones has made the forward line much more dynamic with his 2nd efforts and superior marking. Draper would be my second option to drop as he is also out of form but i would persist with him as when he is switched on he can really turn a game for us.

Six Points: Greene lucky to only get a week, 2024's two best wins, and the moment that sums up woeful Roos

Favourite moment of the game was old man heppell outmarking the marshmallow english. Closely followed by the bone rattler stringer laid on lippy libba, he wasnt doing much trash talking after that

Footy Fix: How the Bombers brained the Bulldogs - and Bevo - with their most brutal nine minutes in a decade

10 marks according the stat sheet. Thats his best game since 2021. Threw himself at every contest and followed up once ball hit the deck, if he plays like that every week i think forward line looks way more balanced than with wright who is a non entity if he doesnt mark.

Footy Fix: Brutal tackles, clutch marks and Ross Lyon's critical blunder - here's how the Dons rope-a-doped the Saints

Hope we get setterfield back. We could afford to lose him for saints game but if both he and Durham both miss against port I dont see us winning the contested battle.

Footy Fix: Brutal tackles, clutch marks and Ross Lyon's critical blunder - here's how the Dons rope-a-doped the Saints

Really bad 1st qtr and it shouldve been game over for us but saint were wasteful and kept us in it. On flip side we dominated the game after the break and it shouldve been a larger margin. Despite most tipping saints i was quietly confident we could get the win as long as we kept wanganeen-milera quiet. Hes the only saints player who could hurt us on transition like so many swans did. We will need to improve next week though, the port midfield will be a much harder test than the saints midfield who are carried by steele.

Footy Fix: Brutal tackles, clutch marks and Ross Lyon's critical blunder - here's how the Dons rope-a-doped the Saints

To add to comment below, i think wright getting suspended might be a blessing in disguise for the forward line. He is not doing his core role of taking a contested grab and once the ball hits the deck he is useless. Would love us to bring in another small forward for him or even give the raw but dynamic caddy a go, think the chaos ball into 50 would work a lot better with that set up.

'The Essendon Edge': The Bombers are trying to fake it until they make it

Agree with alot of this. I like the change in mentality but broadcasting it and especially giving it a name makes me cringe a little 😂 . I think Scott agrees with you about not having the right playing stocks too though. Fairly certain we have the most players out of contract this year, i feel like that is by design and expect a few to be delisted/traded at end of year if the middling results continue.

'The Essendon Edge': The Bombers are trying to fake it until they make it

Yep 100% this. Im guessing theyre banking on healthy ticket sales to brits travelling with the lions so dont give a damn whether locals get tickets or not. Only looking at the short term revenue and not thinking of the long term health of the local game.

'We need to accelerate': Waugh admits RA behind schedule on Rebels future as tickets sold to ailing club's Lions clash

Yeah shaun Edwards was pretty blunt post match about how poor the french D was.

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Haven’t watched yesterdays game but was very disappointed in them last week. Very cynical and negative rugby once england got on top in attack

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Fair enough, i found it really hard to spot cos no replays.

Ireland hold firm to clinch Six Nations, Gatland offers to quit as Wales hit 'rock bottom', France win thriller over England

Hate to admit it but feel like there was nothing in the last penalty. The broadcast didnt show any replays from different angles/slo mo so had to rewind to catch it and seemed really light contact.

Almost felt bad for England…..almost. what a belter of a match though, both teams played their hearts out
