I’d be training McGovern in the backline and giving him a flogging over preseason to see if he really wants to be an AFL footballer. He hasn’t worked as a forward and I don’t reckon Vossy would take any crap off of him, make it his last chance. Other than that there’s no doubt that there would be a gun backman getting around in the state leagues that can get picked up as a rookie or supplementary player.

My apologies, I read it as the coach was the boss and the players were more capable than the coach when they played. As a Carlton supporter i am happy that both the board and coaching department have had significant change, whether it’s what was needed will be proven over the next season or so.

As we all now know Liam Jones has retired because (we can only assume) because of his reluctance to get the covid jab. I love how Liam had turned his career around after he was pretty much going to be shown the door a few years ago. He will be a massive loss for us but I have absolutely no issue with the choice he has made. I wish him nothing but the best for the next phase of his life. I also have no doubt that there is a ready-made replacement playing in the state leagues if Carlton want to go down that path which I believe they should.

80% of players that Clarkson and Hafey coached were better players than them Don but that didn’t seem to hurt their coaching records. But I do agree that Teague wasn’t up to it

If Plowman plays a full year in the seniors ahead of Newman then we might as well shut up shop now. And I’d have Fogarty and Owies in ahead of Fisher, Fisher has only been a flash in the pan so far. At least we know Fogarty and Owies will fight for their lives to keep the ball in the forward line. Opposition has worked out that if they can get Fisher on his wrong side then it’s pretty much a guaranteed free kick to them because he’s only got one foot which is pretty much useless if you want to be a small forward. The games i seen him play last year he would’ve kicked at least an extra 2 goals if he had a right foot

Where did I abuse you? And you haven’t given one example of where he’s disgraced himself with his behaviour. What are your thoughts on Trent Cotchin in and around packs sniping other players, no doubt you will come up with some sort of an excuse for him. Look forward to an example of Mumford’s off field behaviour that you speak of. As far as I know his off field behaviour has been exemplary

Hawthorn have actually traded harder for the big names in last 3-4 years and have performed worse than Carlton. And you might want to re count as there’s 16 players that played for other clubs at Hawthorn compared to 15 at Carlton. And yes I absolutely understand we have underperformed for a good while and our players need a good boot up the clacker which I’m hoping the change at the club will do.
