I think that the talent is there in a raw state and the problem is that the nursery that has always developed that raw talent is a shambles. The Sheffield shield used to be envied by England’s administrators as an example of what the county system could be. Now it’s not even admired by Aussies. Until cricket Australia realises that the shield is where the talent is turned into gold then there will be a problem. And that means a 10 to15 game , uninterrupted season where everybody plays and competes, including the test players and selection in the test team requires a player to have played 80 percent of the games, barring injury. This will ensure that the standard of competition is dragged up as quickly as possible by everyone playing against the best. The test arena night be where the money is made but the shield is where the investment begins.

Ca you have to be kidding. These penalties are way too harsh and reflect the mass hysteria generated by people who seem to just like being angry. This seems like double jeopardy and more reflective of a lynch mob mentality. The fish rots from the head people and James Sutherland has been on watch during the whole time that the standards have been dropping. I am calling for his sacking immediately.
