After that, it sounds like Ardie asks ‘so that was alright?’, and WB says ‘Yes’. It would be interesting to know if WB was saying if the penalty, or release was correct. Either way, half the fans will be upset at every 50:50 call.
Lots of assertions that a ref can’t change a penalty, but, presumably they can award a scrum to the attacking team?

'Just a game, k---heads': Why world's top rugby ref has decided to give the game away

Possibly because Wayne Barnes communicated that Frizzell released his neck and moved on to his shoulder, and that the yellow was for targeting the leg?

The World Cup Wrap: France 2023 got a final befitting the host nation - imperfect, baffling and historic

No, you don’t have to be as aerobically fit, a huge advantage, massive difference if you get a rest before every scrum and lineout.

They’re all playing for their country, their team, their supporters and themselves. If you want to try to prove one team is more invested in their country, remember the All Blacks have picked the All Blacks over overseas contracts.

Legacy vs ego: The Springboks are playing for South Africa, the All Blacks are playing for themselves

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned arm wrestle, but you shouldn’t need to flood the field with water carriers before every scrum and line out.

And when last weeks plan wasn’t enacted, it wasn’t really the plan, just clever gamesmanship?

Wallabies winners and losers: Eddie's ruthless RWC squad is full of double standards - but we had been warned

Selections aside, the rhetoric gets me, he was going to win the RC, Bledisloe and WC, now he’ll give some surprises at the WC, but he’s preparing for the 2027 WC.
Leak tries? It’s ok we’ve been working on conditioning, defence is next. Where’s the results of this conditioning? At some stage it’s ok to question if there is a plan.

You might want to pop a comma in there…

Bledisloe heartbreak: Eddie's Wallabies denied by last minute Mo'unga penalty as ABs seal stunning comeback

Thanks Harry and Francisco, do you know the stats on the results of the phases in the red zone? Are the 6N or RC teams more effective at converting these phases to points?

Wallabies' 'technically reprehensible' flaw emerges in deep dive into The Rugby Championship rivals

It’s a big range, when Auckland combined the U80’s and U85’s there was concern about potential injuries. At U90 you’re making it difficult for the under 80kg forwards. These are amateur athletes who want to keep playing rugby

Emphasis on skill over size in under-85kg rugby

Yes, in Auckland, for Ponsonby and Marist.

Emphasis on skill over size in under-85kg rugby

These are the big boys, we used to play under 77’s in the 90’s! They increased the limit to 80 kgs, then combined with the 85’s.
It was a great competition, good, fast games and the only chance to play in the front row at that weight. With enough speed you’re able to play wing and front row, and easy lifts in the line outs!

Offside runners continuing to advance into defenders is one of the most annoying parts of the game, they interfere with play and should be penalised.

Commentators divided over controversial obstruction call that cost the Chiefs a try

Francis, under Law 20 ‘a penalty or free-kick is awarded to restart play after infringements’, you would have to assume under the ordinary meaning, you would have to stop before you can restart.

Make it two! Barrett misses twice as Brumbies pip the Hurricanes

John, Law 7 on advantage, states if no advantage is gained, the referee will stop play and apply the sanction, that would imply that a stoppage occurs before a penalty is taken.

Make it two! Barrett misses twice as Brumbies pip the Hurricanes

There are inconsistencies, you can get away with multiple offsides, but an attempted intercept results in a yellow card. But if you give yellow cards for the second offside in the 5m zone, attacking teams could just set ruck after ruck until all the opposition are all yellow carded

Hi Nic, wouldn’t Exeter be borderline on a flying wedge? Or are they not considered bound?

Coach’s Corner Issue 4: What now for Warren Gatland?

Congratulations to the Wallabies and fans, they’re building a good strong squad, the rest of the Tri Nations and the next few years should be interesting.

Thanks Spiro, a great series to read.

How to watch a game of rugby: Part 3

I used to play it in the 90’s in Auckland, originally they had under 77 and under 85 grades. After a while the u77 grew to u80, and a couple of years later they merged u80 and u85.

They were good fast games and the only way a 77 kg forward could continue playing.

Weight-restricted rugby, concussions and ways to move the game forward

South Africa are worthy champions, they won the RC, beat the Six Nations champions and the number 1 ranked team in the world. Congratulations to the team, coaches and supporters, best team at the World Cup.

CHAMPIONS: Springboks strike late to win third Rugby World Cup

Unfortunately we can’t enforce the no d*heads policy on fans. South Africa deservedly won the World Cup and congratulations to them.

Well done the Bokke, congratulations!

No, the referee has to count for them.

World Rugby has handed the Springboks a big favour
