The improvement in the BackRow was obvious with Sinclair at #7 (was Gamble injured or dropped?). Still missing an outright openside, but the breakdown was better managed in attack.

Need to drop #15, #14 and #11 – must be better wingers and full backs out there in NSW.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

If replying to LP, I think that is what he is suggesting – but at the Academy level NRC.
In Europe, they run at an (mini) International level (Six Nations).

'Best place for me': Wallaby-in-waiting Jorgensen commits to Aussie rugby in boost ahead of Lions series

Makes far too much sense to become reality.
I don’t know why we don’t overload on Academy talent (across all states) – some will make it, a lot won’t, but it is a numbers game for a relatively small cost (compared to fully pro contracts).
English Academies for example – via the Club Structure, load up players and constantly review their development and add/remove based on their progress.
UK, Ireland, France and Italy are also very active in the U20 space, and England are soon to become even more active in the England A space – double reward in the A space as players then get ‘captured’ for their Country.
I see that we are about to get more involved in U20s with a SANZAAR competition in May, which is a great step forward, as long as we keep reviewing the talent and update the squads accordingly.

Darby Lancaster been selected for Rebels (vs Waratahs) at #11 – not directly head to head, but interested to see if he gets a chance to show his gas vs Max J.

One of the quickest I’ve seen, and been successful for Aussie 7s team….another example of NSW Waratahs Pathway / Academy dropping the proverbial ball.

Very happy for WH – good luck to him, but he won’t need it.

“Edmed was rushed into a field goal effort against the Drua after the Waratahs impatiently didn’t set up properly in golden point.”

Hmmmmm – he was in front of the posts inside the 22, and Drua were onside and only had one runner – how much more of a setup did Edmed need?

Drua dropped their goal without any setup at all, under pressure.

Most of these U19s are too naive to realise they need agents to help promote them. Any clips sent to the Waratahs will fall on deaf ears. Brumbies, Force and Rebels are definitely interested.

They get more savvy as they leave school – by then it is often too late and the NRL have already spotted them.

Classic NSW Pathways/Academy Cronyism which leads to a steady loss of talent.

Wonder kid offered 3-yr, $1.6m deal to stay in Aussie rugby - and why it could see Wallabies stars leave Ballymore

Damn – does he play for Waratahs though? Just checking….

You talk (write) far too much sense…it will never catch-on.

Corey T doesn’t play for Waratahs though – puts another layer over the Tin Foil hat…Darby Lancaster is another one – more gas than Max J – but he plays for Rebels (loaned to 7s also)….genuine speedster.

He was too busy being injured (MCL) playing for Waratahs – though not entirely sure he would have made the U20s run on team – they had gas to burn in the backs.

I’ve seen some of the U19s/U20s – a few of the 1st year NSW Colts this year have gas to burn.
If only the Waratahs Pathways / Academies could be bothered to go and watch them, rather than picking their mates children.
A few slip through the net and join the Academy on their own merit – no wonder these young men, who are ignored, jump ship to NRL – their scouts are at many a game.

Sounds like Agent broking RA – if it is, and no offer appears from NRL then it is +160k to agent – nice little earner that one Rodney.

I hear what you are saying – the SR Franchises are only ‘profitable’ due to being bankrolled by RA.

Basically, SRP is a vehicle funded by RA…..any drop in RA funding, and the Franchises are in danger of going under.

I tend to agree, regarding losing on SRP to make it back on the Wallabies – but it seems the franchises have had to wear much of those (SRP) losses.

After many years of (income minus costs) losses, I can see how they end up being up double digit…..that doesn’t explain the ATO debt of course…..anyway, so much that we don’t know.

Even had the kick been straight it wouldn’t have cleared the cross bar – struck the post well short. As a #10, that is your bread and butter clutch win kick.

Deja vu for Tane as Drua deliver another heart-breaker to under fire Coleman

Well noted and understood. But the SR Franchise (each of them) shortfall of income to operating costs looks to be around $8mio per year.

How can a competition operate under that structure? Even cutting players salaries won’t make a huge dent in that!

Exclusive: Rebels threaten Civil War as peace talks with RA end in another blow for Super Rugby

I don’t think it is that hard to wrack up those losses – Christy Doran on Roar wrote earlier this year;

“It’s believed the cost of running a Super Rugby franchise is anywhere between $12-14m”.

Given the SR Clubs get $3.9 from RA, that is a significant shortfall to make up from sponsorship and gate receipts.

Exclusive: Rebels threaten Civil War as peace talks with RA end in another blow for Super Rugby

The Super Rugby club salary cap is $5.5 million and clubs are obliged to spend at least 90%. Rugby Australia’s annual funding to each club is $3.9 million.
With SRA Clubs sponsorship deals and crowd attendance income unlikely to cover that gap (even if the SR Clubs stick to the 90% level), I can’t see how the franchises can run at anything but a loss? Surely the salary cap has to be reduced, which means paying the players less, to balance the books.

Yes – and sadly nothing coming through from the NSW Waratahs academy – no new #7s, no new #8s and nothing in the outside backs

Let’s hope this year’s U19s have something to offer.

Deja vu for Tane as Drua deliver another heart-breaker to under fire Coleman

Bottom line – as a Waratahs fan, not winning clutch games is disappointing.

T Edmed now looks troubled by his failures – haunted maybe, and if it happens again he may need counselling.

The BackRow were better today, but they ran out of gas in the first half – #7 is looks too big carrying his extra weight around – that said, scored a good try in support, but became invisible in the last 20 – probably should have been subbed 2nd half

Deja vu for Tane as Drua deliver another heart-breaker to under fire Coleman

I thought the Waratahs were much better at attacking ruck cleanouts – the BackRow were far more involved, but they ran out of gas as expected.

Poor T Edmed – 0/2 for clutch attempts.

His weight might start with a 2 soon 😉

Gamble is in the wrong list – should be in the Hookers queue – comparable weight and speed to the breakdown.

I think DC realises his BackRow haven’t performed at the breakdown as well as other teams, and the run on boys will over-play (if that is a phrase) until exhausted and be replaced from the bench when they drop.
