Young Max shows that the talent is clearly there, despite the flaws in the system. However, the Japanese and European leagues are siphoning off our many of our top prospects, which becomes problematic when emerging talent is promoted prematurely, without being adequately developed. The impact of losing rugby IP and the guidance passed down to the next gen through players like Banks, or others who are capable of national selection, is often underestimated in our search for success.

'They've got to have some trust': DC's vision for star trio as Jorgo says gold jersey '100%' fuelled decision to stay

But Aus super rugby teams would surely rate form as a criterion that is more valuable than say, the monetary value of a contract, no? Where have we gone wrong in the last 1/4 of a century?

'Best place for me': Wallaby-in-waiting Jorgensen commits to Aussie rugby in boost ahead of Lions series

On the back of Vunivalu’s knack of ‘making’ the Wallabies’ bench without necessarily earning it, do we think Suaalii’s national career will be much the same?

'Best place for me': Wallaby-in-waiting Jorgensen commits to Aussie rugby in boost ahead of Lions series

Every player should be after Vunivalu’s manager. Did a great job ensuring he’d be picked, whether it be the starting or on the pine for Reds/Wallabies. Can’t say his skills have done much for his selection.

Super Rugby teams week six: Foketi back after horror injury, Suli benched, Sam Carter set for debut, DMac rested

Aus rugby factory makes players with missing parts. X factor? Someone fix the f factory. I want us to win again some day.

Five things we learned: Schmidt's selection headache, Carter's a No.12 wildcard, and $1m Thor must step up

Player pathway
Maybe even a….
Coaching pathway?
I wonder whether Nucifora set clear pathways up for Ireland during his time there? Yeah, na.

Set up to fail: The gaping hole in Aussie Super Rugby coaching CVs - with one clear exception

Maybe I’ve missed him in the past but Henry is quality. So much go forward and really good decision making in that 12 posi. Agreed, they will miss him and it’s a shame he is out for the season. Aus rugby and the Reds need the depth. Paistrami despite being a really good player is fairly prone to injury. I suppose that happens when you hit the line, or the tackle as hard as he does.

What!? No more jobs for the boys? Outrageous

Similar themes coming out of Ireland dressing room. Maybe also a little ‘my way’ vibes. Imagine that from a H coach?!

Wallabies of the past have not taken well to such management styles… are we a bit French-revolt-like?

'He's got a gold jersey this year': Uru's break out has him tipped to make Wallabies debut

Imagine Tupou with a coach that could help him fulfil his massive potential in terms of reaching heady heights @ a consistent level with a work rate to boot.

Options:
A – Exclude him and hope he works hard, remains in Aus and helps change player culture…
B – Prioritise performers and grafters
C – Include him as an additional during Wallabies camps
D – ?

Despite not being #1, a lot of fans see them as the top team. That said, other than McCaw’s double cup teams, who has been unbeatable, or close to unbeatable between cups?

England won the ruck. Scotland flooded the attacking channels and more often than not made solid tackles to defuse the pods. Good coaching and analysis by their coaches. Still England just won and Scotland lost.

I’d say, they’re still the unofficial top team until they play the ABs again.

I enjoyed how Swinton hit the rucks versus the blues.

Toole stunner sees Brumbies snap 10-year drought in Dunedin as flyer's Test stocks rise

Seeing as Irish rugby is somewhat modelled after NZ rugby, whenever I look at Leinster, They have this amazing and consistent ability to produce players that can step directly into their first team and play the rugby that is needed to win. It’s like the fundamentals are coached throughout all age, grade rugby levels (ie.curriculum) so that the next Rory can step in and contribute well.

When I look at both teams, I just got a little bit jealous coming from an Aussie perspective.

Big bad Eddie making it about him again. Despite not being involved, he’s….involved. Clap clap Eddie! He picked those young fellas in his squad. Must be why they are performing so well now in super rugby. See, I told you maaaaateeeee!!!!

'Everything was approved': Eddie hits back at $2.6m RWC budget blow-out, says Wallabies can build team around young gun

Interested in what you think of a Canes vs Leinster (1st team) comparison?

Had a giggle.
Despite liking them, they do love a dropped ball from forcing a pass.

Your man Kellaway is playing some great footy in an average team. Him at 15 wouldn’t be a bad shout at all.

Flook is more often than not one of the Reds’ best players in most games.

Flook vs Ikitau for Wallabies 13?

Can someone get Kiss to mentor some Aussie coaches? His IP is exactly what we are missing from being passed to the next gen of coaches and players.

Who the F wants Tupou to go OS because he like KFC?! Crazy thinking. Keep him and anyone on the fringes in town to increase depth.

Now, who is going to donate 100Mill to the ARU…..?

McReight masterclass, Uru statement: Reds smash Rebels in Aussie Super Rugby derby

Not to place the focus squarely on one area, but it seems our player production isn’t entirely dire as some might have it.

Coaching pathways and development are probably Aus’s biggest area of need. Les Kiss is a much better coach from his many years of development in other comps and unions. Unsure whether McKellar will do the same in England (it’s a rabble there like Aus), but if a coach goes to Ireland, France or Japan, the coaching IQ and IP present in those comps/unions and the role it plays in coaching development is hard to ignore. Not all coaches can go OS to develop. It begins at grass roots for coaching too, and if the coaches don’t have a modern day scooby, then I’m guessing the players won’t either.

Just remember, consistently attractive rugby is entrenched in the fundamentals coached into players that yield the flair that works and the outcome of tries that win.

Clear out the fools making decisions and stop being like England…
