I read that list and it makes me so sad. You can blame the absurd Giteau rule for this. I said it would always happen.

You have players slogging their guts out week in and week out for their Australian teams and then some bloke who has left Australian rugby flies in business class and takes their place in the Wallabies.

So when the players miss out and are offered money to sod off overseas, they take it. The biggest draw card for Australian rugby is playing for your country. When that is removed from those players who have shown loyalty to their country miss out to players who haven’t, they go offshore as well.

So you get the next tier players who measure themselves against players of the same or lesser ability. As such, the standard drops. Eventually, you end up with a club level player playing super rugby and watching some player offshore wing in to take their place in the Wallabies and eventually, that player goes offshore as well.

Scrap the Gitaeu law. You want to play international rugby? You play in Australia. Simple as that.

And the reality is, if the Wallabies are successful, people will want to play for them. To play for them, they need to stay in Australia.

The Wallabies will be successful again. It’s only a matter of time. I believe (sadly) that Australia will win the Beldisloe cup before the next World Cup. Because you have Dave Rennie (a seriously successful head coach) and we have Ian Foster (the most over rated coach in our history and with a tragic record as head coach).

Stop looking short term. Look long term. Keep your players at home by using your strongest incentive. International footy.

Debunking the lack of depth myth

Excellent idea.

However, the biggest problem for Australian rugby is rugby league and poaching players with oodles of cash the ARU doesn’t have. So capture the players when they are young with something rugby league simply cannot compete against. The global appeal of rugby union.

Take under 13’s to Argentina or Georgia or South Africa or Europe or pretty much anywhere in the world for a tour.

Show them what RL can’t offer them, international travel. Take them on tour and allow them to create lifelong friendships within the team and with their opponents.

Kids play what their mates play. When a mate switches to league for big money, their mates will follow for less money. But when you’re 17 and have seen the world and made international friends thanks to rugby union, the big money offers aren’t quite as appealing. Some things money can’t buy.

Exploit what Union has over League. You can’t match dollar for dollar and you shouldn’t try. It does my head in when I hear the ARU offering some league player millions to switch codes. Forget him.

Get the players who want to play for their mates, for their country and to tour the world. That’s where your future is.

The Kiwis: How to beat them at their own game

If he got a fair trial and treatment, RA wouldn’t have needed to settle.

Martin: Folau settlement like a Christmas present

The big question is, does RA have the humility to go to Eddie with cap in hand and on bended knee? Forget Dave Rennie, get Eddie Jones. He’s a master coach and will have two world cups under his belt on Saturday.

Ironically, both won while coaching the team he beats in the final.

Eddie Jones has performed a coaching master class for the ages

World Rugby has handed the Springboks a big favour

That would be because you’re not intelligent enough to understand the game.

Anything beyond, run, tackle, everyone stop while I stand up and “play the ball”, run, tackle, everyone stop while I stand up and “play the ball”, run, tackle,….. is obviously a bit too much for you.

World Rugby has handed the Springboks a big favour

It was hilarious. Find a sense of humour. Life is much easier with one.

The next Wallabies coach is an idiot

Regardless of what you think of the 90’s, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the 90’s were the best decade ever for the Wallabies.

Do you really think Dwyer of MacQueen would do as bad a job as Chekia? Mate, they’d have to make the Wallabies miss out on the tournament altogether to match Chekia’s performance.

Watch some re-runs of the Wallabies in the 90’s. I think you need a bit of cheering up.

The next Wallabies coach is an idiot

So it’s not just the Wallabies that have left. Your sense of humour appears to be on the same plane.

I struggle to think of any. There was a Welshman once, but his name avoids me. Probably something something Jones.

With a massive selection gamble, Michael Cheika rearranges the deck chairs once again

Excellent article. Agree with all of it.

Rugby Unions greatest strength is its global appeal. RL and AFL cannot compete with that. For a small amount of money, you can get your talent hooked.

An under 16 tour to Argentina for example. An under 12’s tour to Georgia. An under 15 tour to France. Use the assets you have and that is international footy.

On tour, players bond with other players. Friendships in the team and with the opposition are formed. Teenagers play sports first and foremost for the camaraderie. Union has that more than RL or AFL because that’s what drove Union in the beginning and remains the same today.

It is these bonds and the international aspect of Union that is the biggest asset in Australia. Use them extensively.

A 12 year old playing RL seeing his Union mate go off on an overseas tour is a big attraction for someone in a sport that offers no prospect of such a tour. Get them before the money from RL & AFL gets them.

The vast majority of players in any sport do not become professional players. So the message would be, play Union while you’re young. Go on overseas tours and have an international experience. If you don’t make it in the big time, at least you’ve gotten something out of the sport in your younger days that RL and AFL simply cannot give you.

Four hard truths for Australian rugby

You couldn’t be more wrong. Folau isn’t a member of the armed forces who are paid 24/7 and are held accountable for their actions at any time. He, like yourself, is a private individual with a contract…..just like you.

He is entitled to a private life and to have opinions contrary to his employer….as are you and every other private individual.

Your employer pays you to do a job and that is all they can sack you for. If Folau said his piece at a post match broadcast, his employer would be well within their rights.

But he said his piece on his private social media account, in his own time, without referencing his employer. He has been victimised and for the simple reason you disagree with his opinion, you support his victimisation.

Israel Folau set for rugby league comeback

Centre is a crucial position and one that takes most of a lifetime playing there to learn. Look at the great centres of the past. Conrad Smith, Bruce Robertson, Joe Stanley. All at their greatest in their late 20’s, early 30’s.

Centre is the most difficult position to defend as play has normally left the crunch and grind of the ruck and is open and free flowing. Thus the reason it takes a lifetime to read trends, plays and the oppositions intent.

Putting a 19 year old there who has never played there to boot, is perhaps the dumbest thing of all the dumb things that Chekia has done in his coaching career. And there have been some pretty dumb things.

England was always going to win. Now I think they will win by 40 points.

Transgender wasn’t a thing in Biblical times. The only way you got a “sex change” was by being made into a eunch. The operation involved a couple of stones.

There were men who were described as “effeminate” and the Bible spells out the consequences for them. It’s similar to what it says about drunks, thieves, adulterer’s, liars and homosexuals.

I’m not aware of his transgender post. I don’t follow his instagram account and I missed the media coverage of it. Which was the way anyone found out about any of his posts.

More straws TWS. Wealthy individuals fund politicians. Never $2 million bucks worth.

I happen to know a handful of people all the way over here in NZ who donated to Israel’s fundraiser. Your claims are pathetic.

You’re grasping at straws TWS. The reality is, there were enough people outraged at his treatment by the ARU and then Go Fund Me for Israel to raise over $2 million bucks in two days.

No matter how you try to cut it, that speaks volumes. People from all walks of life would have donated to Israel.

From Christians who believe he has the right to speak about the Bible on his social media, to those who think it is outrageous someone should lose their livelihood for their opinion, to those who were outraged by the bias and discrimination of Go Fund Me for blocking Israel’s GFM page, but allowed someone facing ACTUAL criminal charges (egg boy) to raise funds to defend his assault charge.

And you’d know would you? I doubt you know anything about Israel’s church, the Bible or Christianity for that matter.

Actually not exactly. A phobia is a scientific description of someone with an irrational fear. There are many real phobia’s such as Arachnophobia or Acrophobia.

The use of the word “Phobia” applied to the end of a word is a made up word used to attack the messenger, not the message. It was made up in the 1970’s after homosexual campaigners saw how effective the made up word “racist” had been used to silence debate. (The word racist was invented by Karl Marx to silence anyone criticising his ideology).

The dictionary now includes “homophobia” and Islamaphobia (a word made up in the 1990’s by the muslim brotherhood to silence criticism of Islam) to describe someone who doesn’t like homosexuals or Islam. Not for the descriptions you have said. However, it doesn’t make it right any more than claiming there are more than two genders.

A phobia is still a phobia regardless of the bastardisation of the definition.
