I don’t see them making the 8 next year either, but I disagree about the foward pack. IT will be pretty formidable as of next year: Thompson, TPJ, Vaughan, Hetherington (IF he can stay on the field), Jackson, Asiata and the underrated workhouse, Ava S. Its not Melbourne Storm/Penrith Panthers calibre pack, but it’s got a lot more starch and go-forward than they did this year. Where they will stuggle is the 7 & 9. The hooker could be the most important position on the field in the current ‘6 again’ era of NRL; will be interesting to see if Josh Cook gets a run and if so, how he goes.

NRL season review and crystal ball Part 1: The cellar dwellers - Bulldogs, Cowboys, Broncos, Tigers

Why not give Josh Dugan the same ‘bake’?
Keep trying to stay relevant, Ray.

Ray Hadley's massive bake for Bulldogs quintet over COVID breach that's "crippled the club"

Doesn’t make him wrong though in this instance.

Phil Rothfield goes whack on Cameron Munster after Origin cheap shot

Dont waste your time Barry, he clearly has no idea what he is talking about.
Apparently a NSW cup team has no correlation to the first grade side and apparently by ‘saving money’ on not having your NSW cup side wear the same colours as your NRL side, you somehow have more money in your salary cap to make signings from other clubs… Wow, this logic (Or lack of) is like nothing I have seen before.
Penrith didnt see his value until it was too late. Move on.

Forget the rules, this is the NRL's biggest problem

You clearly have no idea.
If you want to be so sour about the Bulldogs signing Burton, perhaps you should be mad at your beloved Panthers for not realising his value until it was too late. Its amazing right, the Bulldogs must be the first club to sign a player from another club. The Panthers surely haven’t done it before, right?

It’s clear you have it in for the Dogs, and that in itself is fine but you are making flawed arguments based on your own bias. FYI; the Mounties side was only aligned to the Dogs this year, up until that point, there was a Bulldogs NSW Cup side. Furthermore, having a non-Bulldogs branded NSW Cup side ABSOLUTELY does not mean they dont develop their own juniors, they are 2 completely different things. Bulldogs DO develop their own juniors (Perhaps not as well as they should be, but that is beside the point) and Mounties is but a step in the pathway from Bulldogs juniors to Bulldogs first grade.

Forget the rules, this is the NRL's biggest problem

Yes, Juniors also doesn’t mean that they were signed in NSW cup just prior to making their NRL debut. Or are you saying players like Sam Walker and Joseph Suaalii are Roosters Juniors? LOL

Forget the rules, this is the NRL's biggest problem

You lost me at Roosters doing junior development.

Forget the rules, this is the NRL's biggest problem

Some people will pass it off as a conspiracy theory but events like these keep happening more and more often. Kaufusi’s elbow was a shocker and needed to be sent off. They will say it was accidental, but it looked 100% intentional to me.
Another NRL protected species, the Panthers also were getting the rub of the green on Sunday, no one even seemed to notice or care about Brian To’o sticking a leg out to kick/trip DWZ as he made a break which is something that the less favoured teams have been crucified for in the past (Rightly so, it’s a poor act).
DWZ coathangers Cleary while he is off balance, clearly unintentional but no doubt it was illegal and I am comfortable with the sin bin there if it was consistent – Kaufusi’s was much worse and he stayed on the field.
Don’t even get in to the six agains… great idea in theory but the execution of it has ruined the game.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Corey Allen is the FB. Hooker no doubt is an area where the dogs really struggle, though we are trialling a debutant today which is exciting for us as JMK and Katoa simply dont cut it.
I can’t really agree that Saints pack is better but that’s fine, we will see in 24 rounds time

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Also, I am a noob here and even when I start a new line in the comment box, it doesn’t appear that way when it’s posted, so apologies for the wall of unformatted text.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Again, you’re not helping your case as you can’t refute my points.
St George forward pack is named as: Blake Lawrie (Meh), Andrew McCullough (getting on and slow), Paul Vaughan (No form for 2 years), Josh Kerr (Meh), Tariq Sims (Only good now for a cheap shot on a half back) and Tyrell Fuimaono (Meh) with a very lacklustre bench of Faamausili, Merrin, Alvaro and Wiliame.
That’s sub par mate.
One good thing about having 14(?) of your top 30 coming off contract this year is that they are playing for their careers.
Again, I’ll wager with you here for nothing other than pride, Dogs to finish above dragons.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Yep, so clearly you can’t refute any of the points I made above.
Maybe dogs will win more than 5, maybe they wont.
Either way, I will make my prediction that they finish higher than the merge.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Interesting call.
I think the dogs have far more upside than the lousy dragons.
Whatever number you put on their backs, your spine includes Hunt and Norman who are perennial underachievers with the latter said be be toxic wherever he goes.
The St George forward pack I would struggle to think is really any better than the dogs. Probably worse.

Vaughn hasn’t played well since about 2018.
Lost your best player of the past 2 (at least) years in McInnes and also Frizzell.
Merrin and Sims getting on. Fuimaono hasn’t impressed me.
Replaced with McCullough and Alvaro.
‘Nough said.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Wrong, as usual.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Correct, they wont race there. I think the word ‘sink’ is more fitting for the Sharps.

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Manly? Premiers? 😂

If not the Broncos, then who will claim the 2021 NRL wooden spoon?

Not agreeing with what Bill said, but how is calling Joey overrated any better than calling Boyd a ‘Has been’?

Please give it away, Boyd

Yes, they had to play the remainder of the season with the spoon guaranteed

Three things I learned reading 'The Storm Within', the Cameron Smith autobiography

Do we all forget that the Bulldogs were stripped of 37 points in 2002, SIX days after the cap breaches were discovered? Was this not also a quick decision? I think it is probably fair to assume that they would have won the comp that year when you consider the run they had, in effect a similar result to Melbourne ‘losing’ their tainted premierships. Probably worse because they didn’t get the opportunity to participate in the whole grand final experience and parade around some false trophies in their display cabinet like some other mob did….

Three things I learned reading 'The Storm Within', the Cameron Smith autobiography

Sure but what do you suggest as an alternative? If we are just to ‘fine’ clubs who breach the salary cap, it does nothing either. The rich clubs who can afford to spend more than the salary cap, can also afford the fines (Amazing right?)
There needs to be harsh consequences for breaching the cap and there also needs to be better management of the auditing processes.

Three things I learned reading 'The Storm Within', the Cameron Smith autobiography

LOLWUT?
You systematically cheat the cap that badly, of course you get the spoon.
Take your tin foil hat off, its got nothing to do with ‘Sydney-centric powerbrokers’, everyone knows that the NRL needs Melbourne to be successful as part of the game’s strategy.
Was the bulldogs 2002 wooden spoon also a result of ‘Sydney-centric powerbrokers’? LOL.

The Broncos have one hand on the 2021 wooden spoon

Hook, line and sinker!

Josh Addo-Carr signs four-year deal with Bulldogs

Yeah, its okay, we will return to strength without rorting the cap and re-enact our 2004 glory over the bin chooks. It’s been good watching a side with everything in its favour choke and crash out of the finals in straight sets #3peat.

Josh Addo-Carr signs four-year deal with Bulldogs

Darius Boyd enters the room…

NRL spotlight not too bright for Brodie Croft

HA yeah, as I thought, nothing of use to reply.
Stick to the gyprock mate, you clearly have no idea.
