Sporting management get paid a lot and seem to be driven to conjure up new things to justify that and keep themselves busy. New teams, new rules, new reviews and policies.

You feel vulnerable receiving huge salaries and then just leaving things the way they are.

Why is constant expansion an obsession for Australian sporting codes?

If Cripps came third last year won’t he be looking to go two better this year?

Who’s contending for the Brownlow in 2020?

No mention of Tom Mitchell?

If someone released a 10 episode TV show about whatever happened to Tom Mitchell at the Swans I would immediately cancel everything to watch it start to finish.

Swans adjusting to their new reality

Most people with enthusiasm for Geelong winning premiership’s will have had that crushed by (as briefly noted) their week 1 finals defeats by 29 and 51 points in 2018 and 2017, and a 37 point defeat in week 3 in of those games. They never looked like winning any of them.

It is beyond most people to sit through that and now forecast winning premiership’s. We have been here before and seen it come to a screaming halt.

Why were we so desperate to write off the Cats?

‘In a top-of-the-table clash with Richmond, the Eagles showed they could match it with the best of the best, cruising to a 470point win.’

Sounds like quite a game.

West Coast 2019 season preview, best 22 and predicted finish

Carlton play like they’ve each been promised a million dollars if they can pull off Mark Of The Year. The number of times they bang it in, a bunch of them fly up, everyone misses it, and the opposition crumb is staggering. Their main strength is marking skills but they screw even that up by having too many many fly so often.

Two highest scores this season of 95 and 76 just underlines their feebleness in scoring. Clear spoon favourites at the moment given they play Brisbane in Qld.

More pain ahead for winless Blues

Harry is spot on. GWS generally have no soul or passion and neither do 98% of their supporters. Opposition supporters are often louder than the home GWS crowds which I find astonishing. The comparison to a club like Richmond is night and day.

I watched pretty much all of their games last season and did not see 5 consecutive minutes where everyone gave their all.

The last 2 premierships have been won by passionate teams who would do anything for each other, and GWS will be knocked out of the finals yet again by the next one of those they come up against

Are the Giants lumbering towards mediocrity?

There was no sign of the GWS team that fumbled their way to humiliation against Adelaide. The obvious theory for me is that they hated the wet, drizzly conditions over there. Apparently it never drizzles in Sydney.

Clearly they’re a big chance against Richmond next week, unless it’s wet.

Five talking points from GWS Giants vs West Coast Eagles first semi-final

The NM Hall of Shame must be running out of space. In 2013 they suffered SIX single point losses. IN 2014 they lost to Brisbane, Carlton, GC and Essendon. Last years opening game against Adelaide and the infamous 55 point loss to GC (to make a hattrick of losses from their last three clashes) were crushingly half hearted efforts from start to finish. The R9 loss to Collingwood after leading by 33 at half time was devastating.

Yes their best is great but how do you minimise the mediocrity? Tough question.

I’d suggest more brief demotions like the richly deserved one handed out to Lindsay Thomas. Highly variable effort levels need to be addressed somehow. They have a lot of squad depth so use it.

Majak Daw hardly ever makes the team and is atrocious when he does. Case closed.
