Sydney is a rugby league town but bear in mind that a game between two Victorian teams will each bring 35k+ but a game in Sydney is very largely Swans supporters only. I don’t think anyone fibbed about last night’s crowd btw. A fair number hang around the bars chatting and glancing at the game. It’s the last second arrival that really irks me.

Perfect storm: First home game, flag unfurled, Simpson kicks opening goal, team played into form, Swans missing 6 first choice players and lose one early … But there’s recruitment issues and some inexcusable coaching decisions. Throw in the loss of Dawson, which hurt then but his emerging dominance as a big mid really raises questions for the Swans’ hierarchy.
