Bourkos, CJ Stander is an Irish international (as recent as 2018). Unfortunately a player not eligible for selection.

Do the Wallabies have reason to be cheerful from Bledisloe 3?

Yes i agree. I would love to see the speed and intensity that a (5) Tui, (7) Hooper, (9) Gordon and (12/15) Beale bench would bring to a tired opposition!

I would like to see a Pocock and Genia co-captaincy (or captain + assistant). I feel as though they would both relish the role and it would bring the best out of them….

Fionn, i too fear you are correct. While Cheika is in charge the selections will never make much sense!

Nick, In the chance that Cheika abandons Foley-Beale at 10-12, what does our best 10 look like with a Hodge and Kerevi (or Petai) 12-13 combination? Toomua, Cooper or Foley…

Do the Wallabies have reason to be cheerful from Bledisloe 3?

Fionn, i am of the school of thought that Kerevi is a number 12. Also, unless he is 100% fit, his repeat max sprint ability really suffers from the 50 minute mark… leaving him a slight vulnerability with quick turnover ball. His ball running ability is top notch though.

What are peoples thoughts on Hodge being a long-term option at 12?? Big body, good top end speed, kicking game, good defence…

6. Luke Jones (back-up in Jack Dempsey)
7. David Pocock (back-up in Michael Hooper)
8. Scott Higginbotham (back-up in Sean McMahon)

Lots of experience, size, mobility and adaptability (they are smarter rugby players who can play whats in front of them).

I agree about Valentini, i am not yet convinced about Naisirani either (the way in which Rugby Australia develops these young guys will be important).

I agree Riddler and Fionn! I don’t feel as though he is ready as an outside back.

What are your thoughts on Maddocks prospect at becoming a 10? Steven Larkham has mentioned his potential towards the future. He has played there as a junior, is a natural athlete, balanced runner, has decent acceleration and seems to have the capacity to learn.. Unfortunately it would require him to actually be picked in that position in SR to learn it…

VOTE: Wallabies DIY player ratings vs Springboks

I completely agree Johnny J-Dog. I am a big fan of CM and thought it was a real shame they let him slip through the Wallaby developmental pathway cracks. Young, big, strong, powerful runner and (when not injured) plenty of gas! I feel he is the Mortlock throwback we need in the Wallaby backline.

RWC bolters are out there, if they’re wanted

Hi everyone!

First post on Roar! Enjoy reading everyone chiming in with their opinions (similar and differing ones at that) and exhibiting their passion for rugby. Great post Nick!

Chieka seems to be a great player manager, what if he was able to combine on equal terms and input with a Graham Henry and Brad Thorn or Scott Robertson (as well as selector/selection panel)? Thought i’d throw my suggestion for a (speedier) team to build for RWC19.

Starting
1: Scott Sio
2: Folau Faingaa
3: Alan Alaalatoa
4: Rory Arnold
5: Adam Coleman
6: Scott Higginbotham
7: David Pocock
8: Sean McMahon
9: Will Genia
10: Matt Toomua
11: Marika Koriobete
12: Reece Hodge
13: Adam Ashley-Cooper (if fit and in form)
14: Israel Folau
15: Kurtley Beale

Bench (5:3)
16: BPA 17: James Slipper 18: Taniela Tupou 19: Izaac Rodda 20: Michael Hooper 21: Nic White 22: Tom Banks 23: Jordan Petai

Bench (6:2)
16: BPA 17: James Slipper 18: Taniela Tupou 19: Izaac Rodda 20: Michael Hooper 21: Jack Dempsey 22: Nic White 23: Tom Banks

There will always be a few players that are interchangeable, however, based much of the front row simply due to being more potent as a “combination”! There seems to also be potential to develop talent already in and around the squad in what may be their more suited position, without having them in the team because they are talented enough to play in multiple positions… though elaborating on this would draw the post out much longer haha!

Looking forward to getting amongst it with everyone!

Will the Wallabies feel the need for speed after Eden Park?
