26 mins 0-1 City

Zabaleta has provided more assists in the Premier League this season than any other defender (Kolarov – 4).

City are simply swamping Spurs.

24 mins 0-1 City

City still pushing but amazingly it stays 1-0.

I should mention in the reverse fixture back in November, Tottenham fired in 13 shots to Man City’s 15, but lost 6-0.

Only one team playing at White Hart Lane.

Great save by Lloris.

Clichy whips in a cross from the left onto Aguero’s head.

It looks to be number two only for Lloris to fly across and push it away one-handed. He would make a good slip fielder.

FULL TIME Liverpool 4-0 Everton

Gerrard, Sturridge 2, Suarez.

This was as comprehensive a rout as you could imagine. Liverpool’s impressive intensity and high tempo pressing game saw them on the front foot early on and simply overwhelmed a disappointing Everton side who had such high hopes ahead of the game.

Liverpool move into fourth, three points ahead of Spurs with a far superior GD of 26. They are now also four points clear of their Merseyside neighbours Everton. Perhaps more importantly the Reds are now only six points off the leaders Arsenal who could only draw 2-2 at Southampton tonight with Chelsea, and Manchester City to play their games tomorrow night.

In this enthralling Premier League season stick with The Roar to keep you up to date – and don’t forget to join us for Spurs v Manchester City tomorrow.

Thanks for your company as ever, see you tomorrow night – tonight most certainly belonged to the Red half of Liverpool.

Cheers

Now it’s the Liverpool fans turn as they belt out an emotional rendition of ‘YNWA’.

83 mins 4-0 Liverpool

Everton have shown a few nice touches over the last few minutes but the game as a contest and a spectacle is over – unless of course you’re a Liverpool fan who is savouring the scoreline…

Although it must be said that the Everton fans have been defiantly singing their hearts out throughout most of this half.

Substitution: Luis Alberto for Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho has been superb tonight showing vision, flair and technique in abundance.

Substitution: Aiden McGeady for Ross Barkley.

Good to see the youngster show a battling attitude despite the scoreline and the optimism they carried across Stanley Park ahead of kick off which faded dramatically.

Sterling lifts a volley well over the bar from a Coutinho cut back.

The intensity has died down now understandably after the frenetic first hour or so.

Substitution: Victor Moses for Daniel Sturridge.

Not hattrick then for Sturridge who will be disappointed with his poor penalty that went flying over the bar on 55 mins.

If it stays like this it will be Liverpool’s biggest win in the derby at Anfield for almost four decades, although they did win 5-0 at Goodison in 1984.

This is not comfortable viewing for Toffees fans.

Barkley shows strength to ease through two tackles on the right of the box as he has his shirt pulled by Cissokho, but still manages to fire off a strike from an acute angle which Mignolet puts behind.

Good to see youngster Barkley playing with pride and passion despite the score.

Sturridge moves down the right before being dumped on his backside by the shell-shocked Alcaraz. Gerrard whips the corner in but nothing comes of it.

Walter Smith was the last Everton manager to win at Anfield back in 1999 by the way.

Luis Suarez has matched his PL goal total from last season in just 18 appearances (compared to 33 in 2012-13).

Incidentally who was the last Everton manager to win at Anfield?

56 mins 4-0 Liverpool

Liverpool have scored four goals in a game against Everton for the first time since the FA Cup in February 1991 (4-4).

Amazingly – and to Brendan Roger’s delight I imagine – Liverpool are still pressing with such intensity. Their work rate has been remarkable, Coutinho in particular.

Everton look like they want this game to end now.

Sturridge has missed the penalty!!!!

Oh dear – that’s Jason Puncheon territory.

Daniel Sturridge, stepped up for his hat trick…and completely ballooned over the bar.

Still 4-0 Liverpool.

54 min: PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL

Another counter-attack saw Sterling played through on goal. He gets there before Howard, who promptly brings him down.

To be fair Sterling was moving away from the goal so no booking for Howard.

Will this be five? Will Gerrard take it? No! It looks like Sturridge is going to take it! Will he get his hattrick?!
