Die hard, born and bred Panthers fan, now living in Adelaide and dealing with the rubbish NRL coverage over here. I also love UFC and Cricket, and don't mind the odd Rugby match. I live by Dwayne Johnson's most famous quote, "When you walk up to opportunities door, don't knock. Kick that b*tch in, smile, and introduce yourself".

Actual, they should… as wiser people here have said, how else will they expand their audience profiles?

Having said that, 8:30pm would be a lovely time to show it on telly for me… oh wait, I live in Adelaide… we don’t get it on Free to Air TV… at all… thankfully, I have Foxtel, but on Fridays, that means a delay for the games… be thankful you don’t have to pay to watch a decent sport.

AFL is nothing more than seagulls chasing a chip, or disorganised chaos… whatever. But it’s all they show here… tonight on Ch 9… some crappy movie, showing on Go!, and Gem too… some deal the NRL did… even WA gets the footy on Ch9… and Tassie, too… but not us…

Forget the fans, tonight's Broncos-Sharks game is about TV

There’s a dress code at your local Cop Shop? Mate… even the cops where I am don’t wear their uniform properly, it’s too hot. As far as I’m concerned, the thongs thing is a bit lame… wear real footwear, like a nice pair of boat shoes or volleys, with shorts and a t-shirt. Who cares, it was an interview, not a court appearance.

It’s nothing to do with respect or any other made-up reason. All it is, is, it’s Queensland, it’s hot, it’s not a formal thing, so I’ll go in what I’m wearing right now.

What a non-issue.

T-shirts, shorts and thongs? Players show Titanic disrespect

I can, yes.

The QCCC may not have enough ‘evidence’ to formally name and charge people, only suspicion or hearsay, but know they are involved as they have been sighted with others they can prove are guilty in court. So they are hoping the people they do have the evidence against will flip on the others involved in this drug ring, and blow the whole thing wide open. Hence the, “more to come” statements. Read that as, “more are involved, but we don’t have the hard evidence to charge them yet, and until we do, we’ll let them know we are coming for them, in the hopes they slip up, and get caught, and then we don’t need someone to flip and turn them in.”

It's time to start expecting less from rugby league

I live in Adelaide, but have spent time in a large number of American Cities, and that’s about normal behaviour over there. Granted, it’s not in Oz, no, but they weren’t in OZ, they were in the USA, and whether the Guard involved was paid off or not, the Police could lay charges after the fact, and Az.State Police have stated there is no case to answer.

Why I don’t care about Souths, Arizona and the alleged cover-up

Ok… so a drunk guy punches on with a security guard on a boozy night out with mates. Sounds like a normal night out in most western countries… so who cares whether it was Burgess and Sutton, Crowe and Jackman, Beyonce and Kardashian, or Joe Bloggs and John Smith? Hell, it could even have been Loki and Thor, with Iron Man watching, and I still would not have cared. Happens in almost every bar or club, almost every Friday or Saturday night.

Now, I’m not excusing the behaviour at all. Assault is assault, after all. But as I understand the LAW (which has found they had NO case to answer), your celebrity status, or lack of it, does not make it the Media’s right to out it to all and sundry. Where were the reports when a mate of mine was knocked out by an overzealous guard, after simply asking, “where’s the closest loo, mate?”, and accidentally, drunkenly, leaning on him? Where was the media when my brother, a security guard, was assaulted on his way back to his car, after refusing entry to a group of drunken yahoos to the bar he works at? No where, because they have no celebrity profile.

So Sutton and Burgess do, and yet, on a night off, have a slight issue with booze and a guard, and suddenly, because the club and the NRL chose not to publish details, it’s a “cover-up conspiracy”? Get a life, people. There may be war in Europe with Russia, ISIS is getting more dangerous, most Aussies can barely afford to live, Tony Abbott is a douche (not that Shorten is any better), and you all want the media to cover a non-event that happened in November last year?

Wow, people. Wow.

Why I don’t care about Souths, Arizona and the alleged cover-up

Thank you for stating the obvious. Don’t count out Karmichel Hunt… reverting to more familiar skills should see him make the squad without much difficulty, even with him having to add pounds and muscle, and learn a new set of skills and rules (He played Union in high school, so probably needs more of a brush up than a full playbook like Folau).

A look ahead: My Wallabies 2015 Rugby World Cup squad

As a Member, I’d say they will, and it appears that’s the way it’s going. 2015 sees (so far) only 5 Jerseys for Penrith, The Black Home, the Pink Away, the White with Panther Alternate, the 9s and the Indigenous Round. There may be 1-3 others added later, but it’s no-where near the 15 and counting Warriors 2015 tops, and the 12 they had in 2014… insane. I’d limit clubs to a maximum 6 for a year, a Home, an Away, a 9s, an Alternate, and 2 ‘Specials’.

How much is too much to pay for a supporter's jersey?

I buy a new jersey every time the ‘Away’ jersey for Penrith changes (Generally every 2nd year or so, thankfully). I don’t mind the cost, and I do this thing called ‘saving’ so that I don’t break the bank with my purchase. I’ll also often wait until mid-season, or even end of season, to get the top at a price closer to $100. I do this simply because I choose to. Honestly though, most Panther’s fans own a black jersey, and the style, color and design of the Black ‘Home’ jersey has barely changed since 2002, aside from sponsors.

On a side note… where the bloody heck are you buying your jersey from? $180? Never seen that, anywhere. Penrith’s own website has the 2015 range at $149.95 each, Rebel Sport here in Adelaide has them for all Teams at $154.95, which is $14.95 more than the AFL’s Guernseys. So it’s not a sponsor/Comp/Club grab for money… probably more a manufacturer thing…

How much is too much to pay for a supporter's jersey?

Then either everyone you know are liars… or they are very, very unusual. Most outdoor ‘wees’ occurring as children, in our parents backyards. Ever peed in the ocean while swimming, or in a pool? That’s still public urination, Professor. Bet you did while you were a toddler.

Point is, it’s not the ‘public’ wee that is the issue, it’s that it was on or near a marked Police Vehicle… even white-boy-wasted… they are hard to miss. Bird is an idiot, but is hardly guilty of anything any other male is. Time to get over treating these people as moral standards of society. They are young men with lots of money and lots of free time…

Google “Millionaires Young Adults” too see this behavior repeated the world over by people of the same age, wealth status and spare time. Bird would undoubtedly come off as a bit of a good-two-shoes compared to some of these people. Kids of world-famous actors, lawyers and business-people make Footbrawlers look tame.

Are NRL players just taking the piss?

Brisbane are a publicly listed company, check their next financial statement come Tax time 2015. Then you’ll know exactly what, if any, amounts are being paid to Cronulla. I doubt it would be much, though. Something, certainly, but no more than 30-40%. of the ‘confirmed’ $800,000 he is on at Cronulla. He is, BTW, on that kind of money with 3rd Party agreements included in the final figure, though I can’t say who my source at the club is.

PRENTICE: Bronco Boyd could prove to be null and void

Sorry Kurt, that’s unlikely to happen… too many fans like in some world where unicorns are real and Ricky Stuart is a decent coach. Not sure where that is, but I’m glad I’m here, not there.

Gallen wasn’t given a harsh enough punishment. Forget the fine… I’ve have given him a word that rhymed with his… *PUNT*… right out the door. No pay, no fine, just… gone.

Gallen reveals what led to Twitter rant

While I won’t disagree that there are massive double standards in the NRL and sporting communities at large, Gallen is far from innocent here. The goose deserves worse, in my book, as a repeat offender.

What I will argue with you on, however, is the following; “I think you overstate what players are being taught and from what age. There is a good reason why these guys play football instead of being CEO’s and lawyers”.

Luke Priddis is an Accountant. So is Cameron Smith. Hazim El Masri has never had a bad press day ever. Guys like Will Hoppa and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak are heavily involved with their church, and are both very intelligent young men. Luke Lewis scored very well in his HSC. Sure, grubs like Gallen and Tallis are obvious meat-heads that can barely string words together to form a coherent sentence, but they are actually the minority nowadays.

They are professional sportspeople in the public eye. You don’t see Rafael Nadal or Rodger Federer posting dumb things on social media. Where’s Sonny Bill’s dodgy posts? Danny Green’s? Nowhere, that’s where. They are smart enough to either not have social media, let someone else post on their behalf, or have each post mediated by their manager. Gallen is about a million brain cells sort of making the intelligence grade or a Squirrel monkey, sure, but it’s no excuse.

Gallen reveals what led to Twitter rant

Hayne would have the pick of positions, honestly, he just has to decide what he wants his body to do; slim down and speed up a touch, and he’d make a tall running back, bulk up and go for Kick/Punt return, or muscle up and go into the defensive line, probably as a Safety… he can hit well enough to do it. His only issue will be his age and lack of experience… which will reduce him to maybe a 2nd tier player in 2016. It’s too late for game-time in 2015.

For all those commenting about money, did you not see his Press Conference? It’s not about money, he has nothing signed, so is going over on a dream, not chasing a payday. Sometimes you have to take that risk for your dreams to come true. Good on him, I say, and that’s big, knowing how much I dislike him as a player. He is very talented, much as it galls me to admit it, and I think, given his skill set and determination, he’ll do well if he can break through.

Jarryd Hayne can fly high in the rarefied air of the NFL

I think too many people misunderstood the purpose of what I’ve written, showing either terrible editing by the Roar, or maybe the purpose wasn’t clear enough on my part… either way, it was a bit of fun, and I’m pretty sure no-one would agree with who I’d picked, but I stand by it. If anyone was a Doctor Who fan, you may have understood some of the quirky selections based on heart and effort, rather than some overstated ‘Immortal” status chosen by a magazine that overlooks Joey John’s drug use, but savages Gallen for the same thing… bit rich if you ask me.

Many of the player positions are different to what they were 20 years ago, let alone 50, so some of the Immortals won’t make it in the modern game at all, just like some current players wouldn’t have stood a chance against some of the Immortals.

Best. Team. Ever. The ultimate rugby league side

I think you’ll find Moylans rookie stats in 2013 will match or better Tedesco’s in 2014, and we all know about 2nd year blues, so if that’s happening for Moylan, how good will he actually be in 2015? Tedesco is great, don’t get me wrong, but I see his future as a rep Winger, not a fullback, with Milford and Moylan in front of him.

Slater's out, so who is the Kangaroos next fullback?

Easy. The Hayne Train derailed because no matter what he did, in a mediocre team, he couldn’t lift them on his own, and one man can’t hold a team together. His performances were decent, in the vein of Minichiello or Stewart, but weren’t as stunning as his 2009 run to the Finals. He’s a good player, but would be better in a better team. And only in Origin 1 was he outstanding. He was adequate at best in games 2 & 3. He best game in 2014 was playing in the Centres for the Kangaroos, and I’d prefer to have him partner Inglis there, and trial Moylan or Milford at Fullback for the Roos, given we all know Stewart will never play rep footy again, for some odd reason.

Slater's out, so who is the Kangaroos next fullback?

I’m a bit disappointment my predicited Grand Final of Penrith v. Cowboys didn’t happen, so I’m calling it Penrith v. Souths, and even through my Black Glasses, I actually don’t care who wins out of that one. I don’t see how the Headless Chooks can beat the Bunnies after a week off, considering how they let NQ back into that game after leading 30-zip at half-time. They are off the boil and falling fast. The Doogies are just making up the numbers, and I expect the Penrith backline to run rings around them after their fat, old pack tire out from constantly having to contain a fresh Docker, and a rampaging Plum.

NRL title wide open as Cowboys and Sea Eagles fall

It might be capable of seating 23,000… but it never will, when it’s average is 12,000 odd for this season. I could brag about Penrith being ‘capable’ of seating 30,000… but it won’t. Too many lazy NRL couch-fans. I’d go, but it’s a bit hard when there aren’t any NRL games in Adelaide.

There's no point finishing second if you can't play at home

I have, many times. It’s a rubbish ground, in desperate need of an upgrade. Even us Westies at Penrith can seat more, and have a better venue than the supposedly rich Manly dwellers.

There's no point finishing second if you can't play at home

Souths couldn’t finish first in a race for carrots, let alone in the NRL… they are the world’s best chokers when it counts. You watch, they may beat Manly this weekend, but I don’t see them being successful in the following game at all, no matter who they play. My theory is IF Penrith beat the Roosters, it’ll be a Panthers NQ Grand Final, if not, a Roosters v. NQ Grand Final, with Thurston holding aloft a Premiership trophy for the Cowboys, finally.

There's no point finishing second if you can't play at home

That’s old school finals. If we do that, then it should be Top 4 get Home finals (Barring grounds that seat less than 20,000, which should be moved to the closest to home ground stadium with that capacity), and the play should be 1 v. 5, 2 v. 6, 3 v. 7 and 4 v. 8. Currently, it’s not actually a fair draw, and there’s no incentive aside from a second chance, for a top 4 team anyway.

There's no point finishing second if you can't play at home

Dallin Watene Zelezniack It’s not that hard to get it right, but it helps if you know the family. 🙂 Dallin is definitely a future superstar.

Who are the next superstars of the NRL?

So many people still unconvinced, when they went toe to toe with Manly last weekend, and the Premiership Favorites came away with a last gasp 1 point win… you really don’t understand what Gus Gould and Ivan Cleary have done, do you? All this “you need a superstar to win a premiership” is utter rubbish, not to mention, and regardless of what anyone thinks of him, Jamie Soward is a superstar player, and Matty Moylan and James Segeyaro are building their stars. Hark back to 2003, and who did Penny have then, when ya’ll wrote them off all year and they pulled off a rare Minor Premiership and GF win for the double, and had… who? Girdler? He’s about the only superstar. Presto wasn’t really, Gower was as hated as Soward, Lewie and Rooney were unknowns, Priddis was a “has been” and Sattler (who ran down a winger) was facing retirement.

Goes to show some “gurus” know nothing about the game.

Panthers prove they’re LOLcats no longer

Since when has this season (or any season) been logical?

Spoiler: NRL top eight revealed

Write Penrith off at your own risk, guys. Weren’t supposed to beat the Dogs. They Did. Loss chalked up against the Dragons before a ball was played, they won. Going to get smashed by JT’s Cowboys… won that one too. They’ll beat Melbourne tonight, and it’s anyone’s game against Manly… I think Penrith might just reel them in… Just like Souths did.
