Did anyone even pay to be there?
The entitlement of womens sport is what’s most frustrating. Yes it’s great that these codoes are supporting having a women’s game but it’s pathetic that they want to be treated like pro’s when they play like amateurs. Mens rugby/afl/cricket were all semi pro for decades – women want it all now without ever having to earn it.

If you can’t trust your referees to be neutral, then they shouldn’t be in charge of any game. Saying Klein shouldn’t be there is a massive disrespect to his character as a professional ref. They should pick the best ref, not someone they think “might not cheat”… they shouldn’t have a job in the first place if players/coaches think they would cheat to support their home nation.

Here’s to hoping Samoa win the world cup, get elevated to tier 1 nation, and state of origin can continue its path back to actually being NSW v QLD.

haha sorry missed you changing it from Cleary to Cherry and I’ve never seen anyone call him “Cherry”. DCE is his pronouns hahahaha.
as for how do I figure he combines better, it’s called watching games. Cleary looks lost without his safety nets around him. We are going to win anyway, but Cleary doesn’t deserve any praise.

“Going pretty well” – by what measure?
Participation is down. Investment is down. Pathways to the next level are stagnant for 18-22 year old players. Results in both the Super Rugby and International competitions are atrocious. Rugby is a dying sport in Australia. Has been for a while. I think it’s now the 37th most popular recreational activity in Australia. For reference League has dropped a bit to but not as bad.

It has lost its way worse than ever. Noone is playing at a club level. The best athletes go to other sports. No profitable pathways for young players. Crap coaches. Still elitist in its set up. Hands down the worst football code in Australia and quickly becoming irrelevant in this country.

Cleary is overrated if you ask me. Great club success but that doesn’t make him a great rep player. And his kicking game is garbage at the moment.
Mal was never dropping Cleary for the final.
If he loses with Cleary playing – that’s one thing.
If he loses after dropping Clear – Mal would get sacked.
If he won with DCE everyone would just say – Cleary would have won to.
Pre world Cup I thought I was just being harsh on Cleary. Post World Cup, I think he’s just overrated.

Cleary should be gone that’s for sure. What a flop he is in rep games.

Cleary should be dropped and replaced with DCE, but it won’t happen due to the NSW up roar that would follow. He has looked disjointed and out of form in big games, same as he does in origin. DCE clicks better with the existing spine and has a cooler head. But if Australia lost and cleary was dropped, Mal would never live it down. Cleary is a great club footballer. The proof is not there that he’s a great rep player yet.

For all the highlights, I don’t even find the batting impressive anymore. I’m happy for it to be used as out of season entertainment, but any requests to alter the game further just to accommodate T20, should be shut down as quick as possible.

So replace a 50 over game with a 40 over game. What a ridiculous idea. Making change just for the sake of it.

Tickets are expensive. Hospitality is expensive. Life is expensive at the moment. Is it any shock that attendance at sporting games is dropping?

It’s nothing but a hit and giggle for people who never played cricket and can’t appreciate the actual challenge of bat v ball.

If all you casuals can just go ahead and bugger off and leave test cricket alone that would be great. Take your hit and giggle and worry only about fireworks, sixes and big scores – and let the rest of us enjoy cricket for what it should be, a battle between bat and ball. Not a bunch of sloggers on concrete decks, where all the rules benefit the batsman.

Would be very surprising if they did given the Infancy of Australia’s competition and it being a much bigger sport than it is in France. The top teams will be dominant or a long time (look how long it has taken men’s rugby league to start fielding more competitive international teams). The quality is crap let’s be fair, and then money from the men’s game will prop up the women’s for ages, but the recent push seems to be getting a lot of women involved in the code, so the powers that be probably see it as money well spent long term.

If he didn’t intentionally do it, can you explain what has occurred then? If you have ever played cricket, you 100% know if the ball is in your hands when taking a catch like this. Sure, he hasn’t gotten up and celebrated like a twit, but he made clear indications that the ball was safely caught. Are you suggesting he was unsure if he had a hold on the ball? as I call bollocks on that suggestion.

Simply replying to you congratulating the players for the stance they took. I don’t think it deserves a “well done” at all. It was an idiotic decision. The players who took this empty stance at the expense of their code should be berated not congratulated.

I want Origin to go back to being an Australian Trial.
Origin players to be paid less so players aren’t discouraged from playing for their Country of choice.
Add more international games to the stand alone origin weekend so the Samoa’s, Tonga, NZ’s etc are still playing and earning rep $
Making Origin less about money and more about being an Australian trial, would strengthen International football.
