The problem with these events rounds is that no one thinks of the supporters of the clubs. Supporters who go to every home game, win or lose.
Then all of a sudden they remove a home game from you and take it to a place you cant afford to go to.
These are the people who without them clubs would fold and yet they are treated like crap in these situations.
Plus are these event rounds that much of a success? I am sure there would be bigger crowds if the games were played at their normal venues.
To me these are just a marketing cash grab and screw the public.

Does the A-League have the clout to make a UK-bound event round work in season 2024/25?

A good coach will make substitutions at the right time to try and change the game.
France were in complete control in the 2nd half.
There should have been a couple of changes made around the 60th minute like Kuol, Mabil, Tilio. Someone who could do something different to change the pattern of the game.
Instead Arnold makes a like for like substitution and waits until we are 4-1 down and only 15 minutes left before trying to change things up.
Yes hindsight in a wonderful thing but coaches earn their stripes by being able to change the game at the right time.

REACTION: 'Welcome to world class football' - French stars destroy 'shy' Socceroos in Cup opener

I wouldn’t be starting either yet but something a bit different to change things up especially if chasing a goal in the last 10 minutes I think its worth taking both.
Its a bigger squad than before so put a couple of game changers in it.

Five things we learned from Australia's 1-0 win over New Zealand

There was a lot of huff and puff but not much else.
We really lack a creative midfielder. Someone who can add a bit of spark to a very ordinary midfield.
I have never liked the one central striker. We dont have the quality to play this system. If they could play off another striker it might be a different story.
I hope he uses Kuol as an impact striker. I also think his brother should be in the squad as well. Taggart, McLaren and Duke are all similar strikers and when these are substituted nothing changes on the pitch.

And just an add on to the comment, even in the TV world FTA stations have to advertise their programs as the biggest and the best ever and words to that effect. Just about every game in the AFL is promoted as an epic blockbuster.
Unfortunately the dumb watchers of reality tv and FTA tv get brainwashed into only being able to watch the biggest and best.

How can Australian football attract new fans to the beautiful game?

The main problem I think is the general public and them only wanting to watch the biggest names regardless of what sport it is.
Generally if there is a national team the domestic leagues dont do well. NRL is probably the only exception to this.
Even Aussie Rules struugles to get attention below the AFL. The VFL and AFLW struggle for viewers and crowds.
Cricket can get big crowds for internationals but next to nothing for the domestic game. Even the BBL is starting to struggle with all the complaining that there are very few big names involved.
Rugby Union, Netball, Basketball. Its the same story.

Improving youth development is definately needed here.
Promotion/relegation from A league down to lowest state league level will help improve pathways.
A fully open transfer market will get clubs developing youth with the hope to benefit from it.
Changing the mindset of the Australian public that it is not just about the big names. They can and are allowed to watch lesser known players.

These are some of the things that need to be done to improve yourh development and improve the A league. I hope one day these will happen.

The problem with Nani's move to the A-League

I also believe it can happen and can happen by 2030 if things are done correctly.
The state federations need more control over community clubs. With my local club not one of their miniroo or junior coaches have been put through a coaching coach. They just get told to look on youtube etc for drills. Coach the parents to be coaches and see the improvement in the youth system happen.
Have promotion/relegation all the way down the system and the pathway for these youngsters becomes so much bigger and clearer.

If you need star quality to attract fans, the new A-League season is off to a good start

The NSD is a must, then make it promotion/relegation all the way down.
This will encourage community clubs to get decent committees who actually care for the club, community and the sport not just ones who use the club to further their own personal agendas.

Have a proper, open transfer market so teams who develop youth get rewarded for it. This will get clubs to concentrate more on youth development. Get better, more qualified coaches knowing that the club will get some reward if a talented player moves up the divisions.

Luton, under their current owners, are great to show that you can do well while living within their means.
All this talk about the 2nd division of the A League plus promotion/relegation and clubs not being able to survive is just rubbish.
Clubs would have to improve their youth development and scouting. Live within their means.
Luton managed to reach play offs last year with smallest wage budget, one of the lowest crowd averages and one of the lowest transfer fees paid in the whole division.

The only way to beat the Eurosnobs is by supporting the A-Leagues
