Regarding the dual playmaker tactic isn’t that what the wallabies are doing with Carter and Donno? Playing Donno to make up for the perceived deficiencies in Carter, how much confidence would the latter have gained from the simple kicks v Georgia. I found it interesting early in the game Sexton held up after a quick tap. The 4 officials plus commentators not one knows the laws. Retreating players must keep going they cannot be put onside by advancing tackler. Clearly a penalty try to Ireland. I bet Richie McCaw would have known. Officials seem to try very hard to agree with each other.

Defending the rolling maul is very difficult. A few years ago the laws were tweaked and joining ahead of the ball carrier was made illegal. It happens all the time especially when the backs join. The attacking team does not need any more help. Please let’s use the law and make it fairer.

in the game i watched the cheetahs scrum destroyed the brumbies scrum on several occasions they were definately not a soft touch both teams had good and bad moments at scrumtime.

They may well make a difference when fit again.

I believe the referees do not police the maul stopping twice – they often go backwards initially then sideways both considered stopping then get organised and go forward. the interpretation seems very much in favour of the attacking team as to when the maul is completed.
