Of course Rugby League will follow, they won’t have a choice.
As soon as the insurance companies get sick of paying settlements for long term head injuries, which won’t take long, they will refuse to provide insurance for any competition that doesn’t make changes to reduce the current level of risk.
A competition that can’t get insurance will disappear overnight.

'All parts of the game': World Rugby set to follow RFU's lead and lower tackle height

Gee the Brumbies are strong, and have depth, in the locks and back row.

'Tough bugger coming out with scars': The old Wallaby rising star wants to emulate - and the feature that impressed Cheika

I understand all that. I just don’t understand why some players aren’t good at it.
Have a plan, know the other teams weakness and strengths as well as your own, and if the plan isn’t working, go to plan B. It’s not rocket science, it’s calling a lineout.
They are professional rugby players who train full time and play regularly. They should have a thorough understanding of how the game works.
I used to call the lineouts and we got it right most of the time, and we only trained on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 😁

Coach's corner: Unravelling the Wallabies' lineout mess, and radical solution Springboks need before RWC

“despite his all-round excellence, lineout calling is probably the weakest aspect of Matt Philip’s game.”
I’ll admit it’s been a long time since I played, but is anyone able to explain why we have some players who are considered talented at calling lineout plays and others are considered poor.
Has the game changed significantly from the caller announcing a coded message that let’s their team know where the ball is going to and everyone’s role in making it happen?

Agree with what you are saying but it will be hard to put a lot of development into both Donaldson and Edmed before the world cup with both playing for the Tahs. I don’t think Coleman would be happy for the whole of the 2023 season to be an experiment to benefit the Wallabies.

Life after Cooper: Wallabies' 2024 gameplan development starts now

How good was Cadeyrn Neville?
Provided the grunt and mongrel we needed.
looking forward to Nicholas Bishop eating humble pie in his column this week. 😁

REACTION: 'Effing wild!' - Cooper crocked, Banks broken and Swain sent off - but Wallabies overcome chaos

“So you pick your squad based on the presumption that your starters get injured in the first 20 minutes? That’s just a little bit the wrong kind of special.”

No, you pick your squad based on the possibility that players will be injured and your replacements aren’t going to weaken the team.

For example, imagine if your team had a really good number 10, and a really good tight head prop, but you didn’t organise any decent replacements for these positions. If your number 10 and tight head prop got injured, your whole season could fall apart. That would be considered poor planning/coaching.

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

Tate has an excellent running game and would be fantastic to bring on with 20 minutes to go when fatigue is setting in.
Problem is if Nick White gets injured at the beginning of the game, bringing Tate on weakens the team. He doesn’t have the passing or kicking skills required.

One Trick Ponies?

What a dumb comment when Tom Wright was the leading try scorer for the Australian teams.

Eddie better get ready for his bags to go missing again.
Happening to everyone at the moment.

What would be worse is allowing a ref officiate in a game involving a team he used to play for!
Oh, hang on…..

How the Brumbies lost their semi-final ‘State of Origin’ against the Blues

It’s not the number of penalties against the Brumbies that I’m concerned about, it’s the lack of penalties against the blues.

Blues continually off their feet at the breakdown, sealing off the ball, Brumbies dominant in the scrum with the blues falling apart, yet the ref calls a re-set, etc.

As a number of other people have stated, all we want is consistency.

REACTION: 'Reckon we'll get an apology' - Battered by the ref, bettered by Barrett, Brumbies blow Blues battle

I’d be giving Kellaway a crack at fullback before Jordy or Jock.

Kellaway has shown that he can be a dominant player at international level.

Petaia is still regularly making poor decisions in attack leading to turnover ball. He would be a disaster at fullback for the Wallabies.

Rugby News: Brumby reneges on Japan deal after 'positive feedback' to Wallabies dream, Rennie delivers Banks verdict

I think the Brums without Noah lacked confidence. They have a number of players who are adequate at number 6, but Rod Iona, while having some great skills, makes the occasional poor decision and struggles at super rugby level. I think this affected the teams mindset and they were well off their normal game.

Weekend Super Rugby lessons: Pick your mark and time your run

Was at the game, my wife commented how much Ardie seemed to be hobbling in the warm up. Looked like he may have been carrying an injury.

REACTION: 'It's good for everyone'- Banks enthused by the sun as Brumbies beat Canes

Wile I’m definitely no fan of the Tahs, and believe a lot of the problems with rugby in Australia have been caused by the attitude of those in charge at NSW rugby, I’m still excited by their improvement this year.
Has to be good for the Wallabies.

The Wrap: Super Rugby once again finds joy and inspiration in Suva

I’ve never been able to workout why rugby in Australia finds it so difficult to successfully manage and promote the game. When we have plenty of former players and current supporters who are successful in business and leaders in their field, we should be thriving in this area.

Also, how good were the Brumbies!
One could even say they have confirmed their status as Australia’s best side. 😁

The Wrap: Everything that worked and didn’t work in Super Round

“Prop forwards are today’s super-athletes”
I think if you ask any old props they will tell you props have always been the super athletes of rugby.

If we fix the issues with the scrum, can we then focus on how to stop the backs dropping the ball? That’s the part of the game that really annoys me.

Is this a problem without a solution? Why thinking around scrums needs a reset

The way you have compared the stats between the Brumbies and Tahs tight 5 would have a lot more credence if the Tahs had actually beaten the Brumbies, which they haven’t

It might be great for saying “look how many times our props run the ball”, but if you can’t beat the teams at the top of the table, it really doesn’t mean much.

ANALYSIS: Why the Waratahs forwards are fronting up for the Wallabies

Well, if the Reds have confirmed their status as Australia’s best side, you would have thought they’d have spent some time at the top of the table.

The Wrap: Chaos as scrum shambles puts timekeeper to sleep for 58 seconds

I was on the phone last night to my son who lives in Brisbane, giving it to him about being a Reds supporter and telling him he will probably hear me on the telly cheering for the Brums, giving it to the Reds, at the game.
Today my daughter got a positive PCR test result
I’m not allowed out of the house
Bugger!

'Cast offs, rejects and defectors': Why Reds vs Brumbies is rugby's gripping grudge match

I think Charlie Turner’s point is valid.
Cheika’s strength was as a motivator, and he would often push the us vs the world rhetoric during his public interactions.
Argentina are at the back end of an arduous tour with poor results. Instilling an us vs the world attitude, highlighting a range of perceived injustices, may be seen as the best way to keep them motivated.
I found it interesting in the post match interview when the Argentinian captain was asked if he could share some of Mario Ledesma’s message to the team after the game his reply was “No. That was for the team and it will stay with us.”

'The boys and staff felt really disrespected': Why this photo has Argentina coach fuming

Anyone know if QC has a contract for next year?
Brumbies need a back up 10 with the departures of Kuenzle and Pasitoa.
Could hepl QC with his citizenship problems as well.

'If my number's called I'm ready': What Quade has been told he must do for Wallabies return

I think it was Dave Brockhoff who once said “the most important player in a rugby team is the tighthead prop. The second most important player is the reserve tighthead prop.”
This was evidentially displayed in Saturday’s game.

The possibility that Slipper and Sio coul be back for the next game is good news for the Brumbies, except that they are both looseheads. (Although I think Slipper did have a go at tighthead during some trial matches a couple of years ago, I don’t think playing him at tighthead his first game back from a knee injury would be a good idea)

Archer Holz has the potential to become a good tighthead prop, but he was playing colts 12 months ago and still needs to develop. Unless the Brumbies come up with an adequate solution until AAA finishes his suspension, they could struggle for the next couple of games.

The contest that set Super Rugby AU on fire in 2021

Yep, we can keep picking the same players we have in the past, and we will most likely keep losing.
Or, we could pick players from a team that consistently wins games and wins competitions, and give them a decent amount of time at international level to see if they have what it takes.

Six talking points from Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa
