omg Gippy, that is the most bizarre comment ever. How else do u win a premiership if u dont make the GF? Making the GF is hardly worth the effort….????

AFL Fixtures 2013: Features, breakdown and full listing

Noooooooo Brad, anyone but Manly. Come back to Storm.

Brad Arthur joins Manly as assistant coach

Great comment, some diamonds could be in both NZ and Samoa and Tonga and Fiji…

Five reasons the NFL should be coming to Australia, not England

I think it might have more to do with money than what we call it. They would spend a few bucks on some PR which could quickly solve this problem if they thought it was of value.

Five reasons the NFL should be coming to Australia, not England

Well said

Lance Armstrong's embarrassing literary legacy

tommy I cannot understand why you would waste time looking for clues. Perhaps you are still in denial. Not taking the piss either. Maybe u need someone to give u a nudge to say “Let it go”.

Keep the faith Campaign, never stop believing and never listen to the quiting types who are giving you stick.

The 2012 redemption of the Melbourne Storm

I am excited anytime the best of the best go up against each other. Kangaroos are my fav Aussie sporting team.

Kangaroos vs Kiwis: Is there a care factor?

Here, here Sheek, I second that. All that.

Bellamy and Storm prove rorting not the secret to success

…because everyone else was apparently doing it too. Apparently Waldron highlighted the problem many times to the powers that be but his concerns dismissed. If u cant beat ’em, join ’em prevailed. Problem was there was a whistleblower who came out. Rare thing.

Bellamy and Storm prove rorting not the secret to success

Redb, I have lost all respect for you. To call Hawthorn chokers is so disrespectful, not only to Hawthorn but to Sydney.

Chokers dont even make grand finals. I feel soory for people like u who believe your opinions actually hold any value.

Hawks best in season, but Swans better when it matters most

They were cheats Steve, not are cheats. Stick to the facts big mouth.

Bulldogs more than ready to meet the eye of the Storm

Put Phipps in run on team already…

Wallabies side to play Springboks in Perth announced

Utter disgrace or entertaining? He makes press conferences more interesting.

Give Tomic benefit of the doubt: Hewitt

I agree Jet, the umpiring was a disgrace, but you’re going to hate this, Hawks got the raw end of it. Free kick count was stacked in ur direction. We got one holding the ball call all night.

STOP PRESS – people spread gossip on internet. Have you just woken up?

Talking about something you know nothing about? You Buddy idiot

Bellamy poaches Judd to wrestle back waning premiership tilt

The only way you could answer the question truly Jocelyn is if you had all the facts.

It doesn’t matter if you are black or white, none of us have all the facts so this is all just opinion. It’s clear from your responses that you intended for this to be turned into a racial issue. You’re not being reasonable. You’re not being objective. One of your friends needs to tell you to pull your head in.

Jocelyn three questions for you. Have done my best to word them in a constructive manner:

1. Isn’t this a case of “ageism” rather than “racism”?
2. As a personal friend of Jon do you ever pull him aside and say “Jon, pull your head in a bit”?
3. This story, the story about the married couple who are shooters wanting to stay in the same room in the athlete’s village, Tamsin Lewis (nee Manou, right) coming out and saying there are drug cheats around (ground breaking news there Tamsin); it is reported as incompetence by Athletics Australia, or is it good management because these stories are getting the Olympics on the front and back page of the newspaper, giving it the publicity because there’s a chance that we’re not going to bother staying up because we aren’t going to win much?

Personally I consider myself to be sports minded but even I don’t know if the opening ceremony is on Friday or Saturday night. It’s two weeks away right? I can’t even be bothered googling it to find out (if someone can do it for me…thanks). I’m more interested in next week’s AFL round that sees all the top 8 teams playing each other. Storm play Parra next week. Super 15 finals start. Final week of Le Tour. Olympics…oh yeah…not excited much but at least these stories are sparking some interest, maybe?

Rubbish Joe. This is no threat to cycling. They’ve been through this before and so many people suspect he’s done something wrong at some point in his career. Any publicity is good publicity so it’s probably helping cycling. If you don’t believe that any publicity is good publicity then go and look at the crowd figures in the NRL in 2009 which went up and up and up during a year when every second week league players were in the media “for the wrong reasons”. Bad news sells and the gossiping public thrives on it. Don’t agree with it but it’s how the system works right now.

Cycling needs for Lance to have been clean

Murray I am with you as far as your vision goes that “something is going to happen in this space” over the next 10 years.

This comment is going to be met by rolls of the eyes by ilikeahoodoogurusingha and rugby realist but I’m not saying it to stir things up or hit nerves, but…

I believe the tipping point for “Rugby” on an international stage will come when Union and League merge back together. Union is played in more countries and the game has the ability to be more continuous, league has the superstars. Some rich bugger (or a group of them) are going to bank roll a competition which combines the best of both and us older guys will have no choice but to watch because our kids will be wanting to play the game cause their hero’s are playing it. World Series Cricket revolution part II.

I live in Melbourne; got foxtel back recently after missing the league too much for a few years and I can’t believe the talent in the NRL. There are superstars in every team. Rugby union needs to tap into this, and lose a few players from the field too because there are too many players on the field. It was a mate here in Victoria who made the point that the professional era of union has made it a different game – there aren’t as many gaps for players to run through, everyone is too fit. Either make the field bigger or take players off the field. Rebuilding stadiums is too expensive so the later option makes more sense.

It’s too confusing to the rest of the world (including most Victorians!) to have two codes that are so similar in nature. They split because of money and will come back together because of money.

Point mate. Rugby Reality can you explain something to me…(or anyone for that matter); at scrums in union, why does the referee go “Crouch” (3 seconds later) “touch” (3 seconds later) and then say “PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUSE” when they’ve been pausing for 9-10 seconds already. Excruciatingly boring for me to watch. Then the scrum collapses and we have to go through it all again. Scrums in league are ridiculous but at least they’re over with by the time a union scrum has crouched.

MEXTED: 7s and 10s will turn rugby into a global mega-sport

The two situations aren’t completely different Johnno, they both involve a lack of respect for other people.

I’d like to know how the Aboriginal people would feel if we burned their flag on TV. That was a disgraceful and stupid act.

Media should call stumps on Rodney Hogg

So easy to criticise from the armchair David. He’s trying to win a major in an era that possesses two all time great talents in Roger and Rafa and a third (Novak) who credits his talent to Roger and Rafa who have pushed him to those levels.

Murray hasn't the bottle to win a Slam

Melanie, I feel your pain, I agree with most of what you say but my concern is that writing this piece will not give you peace.

I don’t agree with your point that these people should keep their opinions on religion and politics to themselves, because that would contradict the concept of free speech. You get your opportunity to share your view here and we’re listening but who are we to tell you what you should and shouldn’t have an opinion on. If we all reflect on why their comments frustrate us if we were honest perhaps we’d conclude that we’re just a little bit jealous that they are in a better position to share their view compared to ourselves.

I recommend that instead of being frustrated, you become fascinated by the influence of religion. How so many people can believe in something which was based on formed over 2,000 years ago, a message that has lasted the test of time even though evidence is there to counter their beliefs is incredible. I can’t get my head around why they believe what they do, what motivates them to say what they say, perhaps it’s fear, maybe it’s greed (“I could have had 6 Wimbledon’s instead of 3!) but you gotta respect the power of it.

I really like the way you closed the article about being more humble, like Jesus. But then again Jesus did say “spread the word of the Lord”. Is it too cynical a point to think that one thought you can have about these people is that they might be easily manipulated by other people because of their unconditional belief in “things”?

Sport and religion need divine intervention
