Lyon close to sealing deal for history-making return as Saints coach

think your on the money chanon, bevos time just about up at dogs for me, saints need someone battle hardend aswell as good relationship builder, bevo certainly loves a battle

St Kilda sack Ratten three months after re-signing: 'We can't let those regrets get in way of making right decision'

agree , idont think hird will coach again, not saying he doesnt deserve another chance, just the boards of clubs would be opening themselves whright up for a fall from all and sundry

St Kilda sack Ratten three months after re-signing: 'We can't let those regrets get in way of making right decision'

feel for ratten, he did look really drained towards end of season, iknow we always get told by the ex player experts that players always try but some of the individual as well as team performances in the second half really looked liked they werent giving 100 percent, may not be the case at all, feel for the saint diehards they certainly get put through alot

gee it is a tough environment, really feel for him, he did look very drained by end of season

AFL Trade Period power rankings: The team that cleaned up... and the one that just got nuked, AGAIN

in the freo pies game maybe first time i saw walker play, he just looked like he completely shot with nerves, remember seeing mal michael and ben reid at pies early and they were the same , reid even had the josh kennedy stutter in his aproach when tried forward early,,,, iknow diferent type of players but walker does look to have afl attributes,,, coaching and belief maybe all he needs,, how old is he?

possibly not macca, we will find out eventually

AFL Trade Period power rankings: The team that cleaned up... and the one that just got nuked, AGAIN

agree peter specially about the backline we did look shaky down their at times early, think the coaching staff tried somethings early with the backs that didnt work , murphy really suprised me, him coming in seemd to add more confidence to more and howe

i think where we differ on this point macca is that collingwood was limited to this type of strategy because of the past mistakes, i say its a reason and not an excuse but also aknowledge that clearing grundy and trealor money now has removed any excuse or reason for the pies recruiters from this point on , and im hoping the recruiters are astute in all areas from here on, they may not be time will tell, so overall im happy with what theyve done based on my above comments

hi macca, im not over optimistic about quite a few of the pies youngsters in the vfl makeing a big difference to pies next year, depth was a prob this season ,see hill and mcstay as really good aditions that make team much better, Mitchell will be good but can also be exsposed as stated by others, think he will add to other players game though, maybe adams spends less time on the ground and rotates more with mitchell.adams could even be rested during season on more occasions as he does play a very taxing phsyical game. mcstay can cover more than one player ( miocheck , johnson, cox,
for injury poor form? ) also he can play between the arcs, hill will keep pressure on ginniven, hoskinelliot and mccreery ,could see mccreery having stints around the halfback/ wing area at times, hence
hill up forward. frampton comes as the backhalf depth , not dodging your point about who they replace from the team but more of play well or back to the vfl you go and then its their turn to fight their way back vice versa, if i had to pick some players under pressure more than others would be, even though hes a fan favourite miocheck is one(
i would try him in backline before dropping him completely ), noble, johnson hoskinelliot, cox/cammeron ,ginnivan and mccreery , murphy who could at times be close to runs in the vfl

think the blues improved a lot this year and were very good to watch at times with the exciting footy they produced, in their last game of the year the 8 goal quater was very eyecatching.to follow that up with some really poor decisions in the last that cost them greatly, decisions from stop plays that youd think less pressure than in general play they would have iced the game, this will be a big driver for voss and the players as they feel the pain of that final game because the belief of the actual playing the game is there ,its the decisions aspect that truely let them down on that day, along with pies never giving in attitude, all points to a bright future for blues, as with all teams injury to key players will be very important and have a big impact in 2023 along with some improvement in the ruck department and much more from williams, martin, and mcgovern, think voss will give these three in particular a stern talking too. i would be opptermistic this off season if i was a blues fan,,,

Minimalist Blues a breath of fresh air

easy to say after the event i know but from the start didnt think the cats looked one bit nervous, almost as though they were on a mission that they already knew the outcome of,,credit to them

AFL Grand Final Focus: Dad's Army wins the war - here's how Chris Scott's Cats produced their masterpiece

hi chris, i agree with your points of view on this whole sad episode , with the seriousness of the allegations and how shocked the football world are to hear of such things going on is for me another reason to hold fire on the guilt or innocence of fagan and clarckson, to this point not having in depth response from clarckson and fagan would surely factor into peoples judment making,by saying this im not doubting the complainants but just think it imperative to hear more from the other side before coming to a conclusion of guilt or innocence, its as serious a scandal thats ever happend in vfl/afl i believe. peolpe in foottball clubs do so much wright but also they can astound us with some of the things they get wrong,,, the only thing that i prob cant get used too when huge scandles break is to often the people inside the clubs that we as outsiders expect to know something have never been aware of the happenings, cheers

Hawthorn’s interaction with Indigenous players is a reminder that off-field issues need to be better addressed

hey ghost, valid point you make ,appears to be rewarding coaches who have made a significant difference to their team from their previous seasons and possibly taken and or improved team beyond reasonable expectations from the industrie before season underway but not winning the flag, i agree with you if none of the above criteria come into play then its the premiership coach, then its not mcrea( this year . )

'Something I’ll definitely cherish forever': Fly the Pie wins Coach of the Year Award

hi mathew,,, mcrea has been great for collingwood, early on after the appointment as a supporter you just hopeing that he gets some early wins on the board to stave off any inside doubt and outside negativity, he achieved that, but it was what he was saying and how he said it along the way that has had a big impression . knowing his playing record and coaches hes been under helped to see past the concerns early on believing if it turned bad at some point this season that hes learnt how to handle that situation, hanvnt enjoyed being a pies supporter this much since 2018 ,the football he has them playing but the club has got back some repect also,,, i think the industry has warmed to him as well as he comes across as very authentic,,, all of this doesnt mean a sucessfull season next year, no matter what eventuates in 2023 for collingwood i believe hes got what it takes and i look forward to him developing the team/club even more,, thanks

'Something I’ll definitely cherish forever': Fly the Pie wins Coach of the Year Award

hi matthew,, great article agree with all you say,, think pies are adding more skill to the team and some bigger bodies to come aswell, along with some of of the young players mcguiness, draper and harrison to take their chances next year, its a tough comp and no guarantees for next year however i do believe the club is a better club now due to mcrea ,wright and even president brown has surprised me this year by not being in the news every second day,,, overall loved the year and our seemingly new direction, cheers

Despite the heartbreak, there is plenty of cause for optimism at Collingwood

hi roarers,,,, longtime observer so decided to bite the bullet and join, im a pies fan and agree with lez on his views in this article , i have admired our fight and grit for decades but i too believe the pies have lacked class of other grandfinalist over my time watching, may take quite a while to be able to recruit a couple of high quality players to help diminish the relyence on to many who arnt up to finals level,,,, Mcrae is a breath of fresh air for collingwood hope he is given the time he needs, cheers all

The Collingwood way: Is pride enough?
