The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

Might be.

The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

Is that so Pippinu? – well really my friend you have no idea as I play Rugby in Tassie and I happen to know how weak the competition is. For Gods sake man give it away.

The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

I could not care less about the compensation issue at all. Thats why I do not address it. My point is simple. I am more interested in Pips attempts to make this a them V us issue and the ‘to the barricades’ BS he is posting. We are talking about Sport you know. This isnt Poland in 1939 !!!!

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

A classic effort Pip – yes you rule the world. By the way go to Hobart drive over the bridge from the airport and the first thing you will see is a Rugby Ground – its the last one you will see as well.

These little anecdotes of yours might make you feel better about how “BIG’ AFL is but you are peeing in the wind my friend.

The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

Dogs I got up to watch the League as well and I loved it. The problem with Pippinu and his mates here is that nearly every posting is loaded with AFL spin about it being the better sport.

They wil deny it of course but its there for all to see.

By the way a drawn match was a great result.

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

Pippinu the problem in o matter how many people watch AFL in Australia nobody else cares. Thats the problem you never acknowledge. Its an obsession for a part of Australia and nobody else cares.

You never address this do you. And we know why.

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

Pippinu no we arent.

All we are discussing is a tiny sport on a world scale with some obsessives who place it well above its weight.

Your obsession with AFL is demonstrated by you postings here. Not everybody thinks like you or feels like you. But this ‘to the barricades’ crap is too much.

It could be the simple fact that neither Gaelic Football (nor AFL for that matter) translate outside their original regions of support. In other words, on an international basis they are both dead sports.

The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

Well Pippy baby I do not follow football so its a nil all draw.

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

Hmm – you keep saying this so you might truly believe it I assume.

Yes lets all get the flag out and run to the barricades to save Australia from ….

wait for it

FIFA!!!!

Sorry mate but I think your nationalistic fervour is getting the better of you.

We are discussing sport – at least I am. God knows what yo are doing.

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

Wow thanks for the amazing revelation about Football’s participation rates. Lucky for Football these relate to real participants and not the ‘AUSKICK’ BS dished up by the AFL in yet another pathetic exercise in ‘LOOK AT ME’!!!!

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

No Pippinu I only drop my dacks for my missus. Now describing FIFA i such a way on this little board might seem brave but its not really very sensible.

I do not know and I do not care whether FIFA is ‘corrupt’ as you have chosen to call it on this Public Discussion Board.

I do not care whether it is elected or not.

And I am sure that FIFA does not give a flying F what whether you think it is ‘corrupt’ or now. And that is probably a little lucky for you.

But I do know that FIFA is a body representing a sport that makes yours look like a duck pond compared with the Pacific Ocean.

As such it will treat the AFL and its bloated egotistical leader with the contempt it deserves.

Yes Ascotvale v Tuggeranong United will win it. Because for every spectator at that game there are 1000 kids playing Football in Canberra.

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

Inviting the AFL to the Table? What Table and why? And Where? And by whom?

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

Thats a low comment Kurt.

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

Know whats where?

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

yes

Forget the second division; create the FFA Cup

Mate I have followed the game for 45 years and played it for 30 of those.

It is in diabolical trouble.

The game is unwatchable. I went to the Bledisloe in Sydney and the crowd noise got louder as the game went on but it was chatter through boredom.

The Super 14s were unwatchable this year and the television ratings abysmal. And the crowds are declining. Participation rates have dropped and moral in the State Unions is at an all time low.

The game is riddled with problems. I have never seen it in a worse state.

It's time to be realistic on the ARC

There is a third group you missed – those that do not care – its only sport, you follow a minor one so bad luck.

Buckley and Demetriou discuss mid-year hiatus

Yes I am mate because whatever thread you start here the AFL boys come in and tell us why there code is the best in the country ad nauseam.

If I feel like responding I will. Are you intelligent enough to understand this?

Gold Coast United are an embarrassment to the A-League

This is a very good article and I speak as a Union man who played the game for 30 years.

What destroyed Rugby is the loss of rucking. Once the players lost control of punishing the player deliberately killing the ball the game got tangled up even further in Referee interpretations.

The current rules are poor and the scrums are diabolical (does any referee really have any idea who to penalise) but the real issue for me is that cheats prosper when you cannot remove them with a few skid marks down their back.

It's time to be realistic on the ARC

Nice try AFL boys but the fact is that Rugby League rules in Queensland and Rugby League fans should not be forced to pay exorbitant ticket prices to subsidise a less popular code flush with cash.

Rugby League dominates QLD in terms of crowds and viewers – the AFL is a distant second.

Just assuming superiority, as you guys always do is not an argument – it is just bloated egoism of the worst type replacing argument with an elevated sense of self importance.

Gold Coast United are an embarrassment to the A-League

Mate read this thread. These boys here are taking over the world. Only problem is that the world does not know they exist.

In all my life I have never read such unmitigated BS and self assuring tripe. But if they seriously want to believe this, so be it.

Its amusing and a little sad but there are AFL fanatics who seriously believe they have the best game in the world and it WILL take over once everybody knows it.

And they sit here in their smug little groups agreeing with each other and deriding anybody who disagrees in the manner you have seen above.

It achieves nothing but it feeds their fantasies. As I said – So be it.

The AFL is tempting Ireland's true promise

No there are 7800 kids in SA that have been through three week AUSKICK courses in South Africa who now get counted as registered players by the AFL so AFL fanatics like you can pretend you have an international presence.

We have hear it all before.
