Why is Phil Kearns even complaining about the supposed split in broadcasting rights?
If I’m not wrong NZRU negotiated their supposed $90M contract with Sky Sports.
Whereby RA negotiated their $30M with Stan Sports.
Are the NZRU copping it from Kearns and McLennon because of their greater negotiating skills, or just because they have a better product !?

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

If anyone of us non – Australian citizens or residents, lied on our immigration card about when we supposedly were exposed to COVID, and kept giving public appearances we would be wouldn’t be publicly vilified. we would just be told to leave and don’t threaten , and show respect for the laws of Australia.
Then to blame a subordinate for clicking the wrong box with regard to any international travel in the 2 weeks before entering Australia is just arrogance personified!
He lied. he cheated , he just decided that his position in the sporting world placed him in an untouchable echelon!
Whereby us mere mortals have to follow and do our best to obey and follow Australia’s COVID immigration regulations.
If the man had any integrity or pride, he should of said bugger it after his first incarceration, jumped on a plane and jetted back to Monaco, where he resides, not Serbia. No man is bigger than the sport he professes to participate in !
And his lies, his disinformation, and his capacity to blame his support crew for his fake declarations, begs the question , who needs him ?

Rugby World: Banned Rassie sends Rennie cheeky message of solidarity, Eddie enthused by mini World Cup

Hi Gray matter
Mate 2011 RWC Semi Final in Auckland Cooper was playing.
On defense he was moved all over the field.
And he was targeted all day.
Cheers

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

Markus,
Against the All Blacks they played Cooper on the wing in defense. RWC 2011

You’re insulting Carlos !!

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

The recall of Cooper smacks of desperation . He hasn’t played for Australia for 4 years and has no intention of staying on after this Rugby Championship!
You all seem to forget that the whole Australian backline had to be rearranged everytime you were on defense so you could hide Cooper somewhere!!! South Africa are going to have a field day looking for him and the heading straight thru him.
His “brilliant” no look passes are just going to add to the tally of intercepts that Australia has already given away this competition ! Cooper was never the answer in his hay day and certainly wont be now!!!

Aren’t you forgetting Mark Ella?

CONFIRMED: Quade Cooper returns for Wallabies at No.10, Rodda starts, two debutants

Highlander,
Great article but I keep asking why Will Jordan is not been given a run at Fullback?
He’s the closest player I’ve seen to compare with Christian Cullen.
He’s great under the high ball and has the speed to launch from the back .
I believe that brings more to the game than Barrett or DMac.

All Blacks combinations are improving, but not all the gaps are closed

You guys are tending to forget that Frizell is a damn sight harder No. 6 than Akira Ione and would probably be playing if it wasn’t for his suspension !!!

Bledisloe teams named: Petaia returns, no Quade for Wallabies. Mo'unga given No.10 jersey, McKenzie stays at 15

I don’t have a problem with the captain’s referral. In an era of rugby where the referee, the touch judges…sorry referee assistants tend to miss all forms of offside play and still can’t seem to decide when a pass is forward or not, the ability of a captain to point out their deficits is not too bad of an option. They have to react within 10 seconds I believe and if the call was misjudged, then they lose it.
What is really pissing me off is the line drop out. How does this favour the attacking team when a 5 yard scrum gives them a multitude of attacking options ???
And my other bitch is the golden point. Why deprive a team that has managed to force a draw after 80 minutes of solid rugby and put it all into who gets the right coin toss.
We aren’t Americans who will not settle for a draw. To me a draw is an honourable result.

The Wrap: Rugby’s devil is in the detail

!00% agree !!! I live in Singapore. Up until this week I could get all the Super Rugby on RugbyPass
Not any more !!!!
And with no entertainment allowed in pubs, we’re knackered !!

SANZAAR are the Blockbuster Video of the sporting world

Highlander,
Agree with you 100%. Our professional players are getting more like soccer stars the way they treat their refs !
No matter how bad you think they are reffing the game, they still get treated with respect.
My American and British ( soccer ) mates cannot believe how much respect rugby referees get when compared to their sports.
Our captains and team leaders should know the laws of the game. A la Richie McCaw
And your 3 points made are all it takes to give the respect back !!
•Only speak to captains
•March teams back ten metres for dissent (yep, it’s a thing)
•Not coach players
Great article !

What is the role of the modern rugby referee?

Thanks KCR,
It will be interesting how it all unfolds.
You’re right about if they are based in NZ then they must follow local labour laws. I’m sure the same applies in Australia. They may, in that case be better off, basing themselves in the Islands.
Cheers

Pacific Super 12 and beyond

Yes Frank,
Didn’t think of that but the London Irish concept is a good one !

Pacific Super 12 and beyond

Guys,
I 100% agree that something has to be done to more involve and protect Pacific Island rugby and promote as much as it is feasibly and financially possible.
The thing about this Moana Pasifika concept, and someone please, please correct me if I’m wrong, is you’re bringing a team into an international competition picked solely on race.
You can argue about the NZ Maoris being the same but they do not play in any regular competition. I love the Maori XV and when they come together to play visiting teams or go on the occasional tour it’s fantastic.
But if Moana Pasifika is going to be playing in the regular Super Competition , but you can only play for them if you are, or have Pacific Island heritage, well it doesn’t seem right to me.
I may missed something and I don’t know what their club charter states.
Would like to hear what the rest of you guys think .
And if I’m out of order please let me know. I mean no offence.

Pacific Super 12 and beyond

Jacko,
It maybe just that I’ve got a thing about the guy. I think that he’s bit of a prima donna. I’ve seen his reaction to being tackled and he’s not above sticking in a bit of niggle from time to time.
Back to your question , he gets caught out of position defensively, he hasn’t got the real pace of a Bridge, Ennor , Ione or my favourite in waiting Will Jordan. The elusiveness of Sevu Reece, the strength of Caleb Clarke. I think he’s being played out of position, but saying that he still wouldn’t be my fullback. He is a great kicker but i don’t think that’s enough. I would put Jordan at fullback and bring B.Barrett back to 1st five.
I would also persevere with Ione at centre but that’s probably another arguement !
And you’ve seen my opinion on the loose forwards. Cane, Sotutu ( 8) and push Akira, Papalii, Frizzell at 6. I haven’t seen enough of Grace to make an opinion. I believe that Savea should be on the bench and cover all 3 loose forward positions as Liam Messom did.
It’s just an opinion. Take care and hope it’s a great game Saturday. Just watched Hawkes Bay v Northland and it was a cracker !!!!

The quick questions: The Tri Nations are alive and well

Moaman. I agree. He could of been special and the fact that I think he has just retired from playing in Europe shows the class of the man. At the time though he was shifted thru the backline and had terrible injury problems ! I think I’m remembering this right !

The quick questions: The Tri Nations are alive and well

I just cannot fathom Foster’s insistence on playing Jordie Barrett at wing or for that matter anywhere in the starting team !It’s an experiment that is not working ! It harks back to the days when Henry persevered with Isaia Toeva as a “special” project !!! There are pure out and out wings in the group that deserve a run and are far more talented !
Same seems to apply to his the loose forward trio selection. He’s doing a Cheika by trying to make room for 2 open sides in the one run on team. IMO Sam Cane must start, with Sotutu at 8 and Akira, Cullen, Papalii at 6. Even Frizzell is a better balance. Savea should take up the old Liam Messam role as a substitute for all loose forward positions.
Scott Barrett and Pat Tuipuloto also really have to step up and stop watching Sam Whitelock continue to do all the hard graft.

The quick questions: The Tri Nations are alive and well

“Had the scrumhalf been an erratic kicker like Carlos Spencer, then one could have understood a reluctance to try and take the three points on offer. But Mo’unga has something like an 80 per cent success rate.”
When was Carlos Spencer or Richie Mo”unga ever a scrumhalf ?
I understand that the points on offer should have been taken but Mo’unga had a terrible game !!

The Wrap: New Zealand rugby gets the jump on Australia, and everyone is happy!

For me other than the obvious enjoyment of the crowds in the NZ Derbies was the highlighting of the back room staff.
No wonder NZ is so hard to beat when you look at the caliber of the Waterboys for Auckland Blues
Dan Carter and Tana Umaga !!
What sideline inspiration.
