Been in & around for many years, I've played, coached, managed, & even attempted part time reffing, of which I admittedly wasn't that good at. Also been involved, with the Sydney Subbies for quite a few years, on a voluntary basis, back in the 80's & early 90's. So I can honestly say, I've put just as much into the game, as I had taken out, of it.

Morena Geoff, & yes it was a week of the emerging ‘ Mad Hatters’, in & outside our game. Let’s hope, fingers crossed, one of them has finally met his ‘ Waterloo’ in Toowoomba!
The game itself was more than interesting, with my Landers then the Saders being thrashed in their encounters, & topping it off was the Blue’s trashing of the Brumbies at the Garden of Eden. That game in particular, was Aotearoa’s second to top side against Australia’s top side, ATM, as we saw excellent games from Caleb Clarke, Dalton Papali’i, along with the very much improved Patrick Tuipolotu. Also young, Funaki, IMO showed how much better he is than Christie.
Possibly one of things noticed in the Saders game was the workrate of Ethan Blackadder, since his return. He did the hard yards well.
In the Landers disappointing effort Billy Harmon did play well, & had it over his opposite, but as you say, there were to many absent running around in club rugby back home, & it showed, even though it was the Reds first win over the Landers since 2016. As we saw with de Groot playing well below par. More work in the gym I’d say.
So far this season it looks as those franchises on the northern side of the ‘ Pom Passage ‘ , in Aotearoa will all be in the mix come finals time, as all are playing so well, with many obviously in calculations for higher honours. Yes we are rebuilding, but talent is still there, even the south, so hopefully Razor will have headaches in sorting them out.

The Wrap: Why SANZAAR must hold Frank Lomani accountable for 'going back for his hat'

Yep I’m of the same opinion on Tuipolotu, who is now a far better player than previous seasons. Papali’i, after a seemingly slowish start is now going well. I was very impressed with Clarke again, as he’s a must for the AB’s along with Reece who’s a certainty, IMO. Then again with quite a few players returning we should start noticing some improvements. Even Ethan Blackadder was impressive in a beaten Saders side.

Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check

TBH the Brumbies had their share of Polynesian Panzers, as you say!

The big difference is the injury list by a few teams!

Then Wrecked ‘ em, Australia’s top franchise trashed, & taken apart by Aotearoa’s second top team! Funny how it works!!

Yep agree, as we all know the talent within their ranks, Andy.

Cale is a very good player, but he does need to bulk up a bit, during the off season, then I’m sure we’ll see something, osr!!

Hey Peter, the Bumbie’s beat the the Blues last time out!

TBH Andy, Funaki, IMO is a better halfback than Christie!!

Moreso the Chiefs IMO JD!!

Beale, Rodda shine on Super Rugby return as Force smash Crusaders to keep finals hopes alive

Well with a weekend of seeing both the Landers & Saders smashed, we also saw Aussies top team trashed in Auckland, in a very impressive win by the Blues. So impressed with the Blues halfback as hes a big improvement on Christie.
Yes a weekend of smashing as we also saw the Canes carry on their winning ways over the Drua, in Suva.

TBH BF Otepoti Dunedin is not the only place within the franchise that has club rugby, as it’s the overall cities & towns that also have club competition.

TBH Thorn was always a forward!

Have you ever thought that there were far better players in place around the franchise’s than what RTS was? At the time, there were!

The weakness of the coach wasn’t the only thing that was the cause, as many players that should’ve been selected weren’t there!

After being coached as a back! To which at the time he was just another cross coder!

Wrong as Benji originally came from Rugby. He played in the BOP as a young fella before he went to League, & it’s a very similar case to Brad Thorn who played Rugby in his youth in Mosgiel before they emigrated to Brisbane. That’s one reason Thorn had no trouble from coming back from League as a forward to playing Rugby again, in the forwards.

SBW GC had his problems transferring from League to Rugby, as being a League forward he failed as a forward in Rugby, hence him playing in the backs, due to his coach at the time recognising his off loading passing skills, used them to make him a back.

SBW a success??? He was a League forward that went to Rugby & failed in being a forward. At the Saders, from memory, they turned him around, with his great offload passing skills to become a back, to which he did succeed. So there was a significant adjustment, which did turn out OK.

TBH kingpm, Benji originally came from Rugby, but came to League at a young age, & not in his 30’s as you say. He went back to Rugby, to the Blue’s, but failed drastically for a season or so, before returning to League, where he excelled again.

Keep reckoning as you’re way outta whack!!

Must be remembered that SBW did go from NRL to the Global Game, being a League forward that wasn’t able to adjust to a Rugby forward with the different skill sets that are required within the game. Therefore due to his known off loading passing skills he became a back which actually worked out quite well for him. As it is different game, different skill sets.
