Good article Ronan. Totally agree but therein lies the problem at the moment we do not have a no 3 batsman, no 4, no5 etc. We are really struggling with batting, putting more pressure on our bowlers and showing the lack of depth we have in that department at the moment.

Khawaja has failed Australia when they needed him most

Nice article spruce moose. We must blame something for the poor state of the mens Australian cricket team though. So a game that actually has no decent technique applied to it and comprises of both unorthodox batting and bowling seems like a good place to start.

Don't blame the Big Bash for Australia's batting woes

Sorry Ben ,whilst scoring a hundred ,especially in India is a feat in itself it is consistency that the side needs and Maxwell just didn’t bring it when he had his chance.

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

Gday Ronan, your team provides for a bit of debate i reckon. Firstly there is Joe Burns. Tried and tested but for some reason forgotten by selectors. Maybe they are sick of batsmen scoring runs in other forms of cricket such as sheffield shield and not performing in the test arena. I might be wrong but i think Burns’ stats stack up with whomever we have in the side at the moment. I love Renshaw. Has the look of a test player but is struggling with form at the moment. Khawaja is just filling in for Steve Smith at no3 at the moment whom i believe is lucky to be in the side due to his inconsistent form and the lack of any real replacements. Kurtis Patterson is someone who should have been picked in the first test. Is in form and that is something that could rub off on some of the other batters who have been struggling. Confidence can be catchy. Head is another lucky one. In previous years when there was a wealth of in form players he would not have lasted this long even with the starts he has posted. It used to be not good enough. Maxwell would be close to the most inconsistent cricketer i have seen in my lifetime and has been used in the past with not much success. That leads us to the main problem. THERE IS NO-ONE. Unfortunately we have no where near the amount of test ready players available as we used to have which leads to the question What the bloody hell happened?

We get the joke The CunningLinguistic but that is the problem it has got beyond a joke now. First team to lose to India on home soil it looks like. Alot of work to do.

Failing Test batsmen ordered back to Big Bash to "spend solid time in the middle"

Should not have changed a winning side to begin with. India have had no trouble bowling so i think the call for an extra bowler is unwarranted. We are trying to build a team for the future so we should be staying with the same side if we are to continue the roll we are trying to create.

Mitch Marsh flat after batting failures

Well said Geoff and Big Daddy!

Failing Test batsmen ordered back to Big Bash to "spend solid time in the middle"

Hahaha well said Jorge of Brisvegas, i admittedly didn’t look at it like that which in itself is a sad reflecion on the state of Australian cricket at the moment or more so the Aussie batters.

Great article James. Totally agree with what you are saying but i really do not think we have many more choices. Renshaw is struggling to find form and i am a fan of his as i think he has a great technique for test cricket. Maxwell has been tried and is too inconsistent to try him again and Peter Handscomb has been struggling with his technique of late. There really is no test ready players to pick at the moment and we have had the heart of our batting lineup taken with the suspension of Warner and Smith.

Australia on the brink: Why it's time for a fresh approach

Well Dane i tend to disagree with you in regards to sending them to the big bash for more batting. I blame the big bash for the impatience of our batters and the poor technique that they are showing consistently of late. The sheffield shield would be the best place to send them to practice their batting and fine tuning the skills needed to bat in the test arena.

I really liked that article Peter. I am just a bit younger than you but remember that great West Indies side from the 80’s and what a side that was. Australia were not as good as them but always had a go and never took a backward step, such is the aussie spirit. Our team from the 90’s and early 2000’s nearly compares to that great Windies side but since the retirement of those great players such as Mcgrath,Warne ,the Waugh brothers, that great opening combo of Langer and Hayden,Boony,Gilchrist etc (i know i have missed some other great names) we have really struggled as a team. As mentioned in a previous post both Smith and Warner scored most of our runs so without them we have really struggled in the batting department which puts immense pressure on our bowlers to perform even having probably close to the best bowlers in the world.

Tim Paine – oh captain, my captain!

Unfortunately for Australia our batting skills are lacking. When Smith and Warner were playing they were scoring most of our runs. Now for some reason we do not have the depth of batting talent we had in yesteryears so we are struggling even with the best bowlers in the world. Seriously it was not that long ago we could have fielded two Australian sides that would be of world class standard. Sadly not anymore and i have followed this game for over 40 years.

Australia left to scrap for draw in Melbourne

Sea bird lover i am sick of you. Get a life. I want to engage with decent supporters of rugby league not jibberers like yourself.

Think relocation is a terrible idea? Let's do what we do with other terrible ideas: Try it out

Roosters 14 premierships
Sea birds 8 premierships. Premierships are what matter so carry on as much as you want. It is people like you that turn people off sites like this.

You are a pest ae47. Do you have nothing else to do than complain about more successful clubs than the sea birds. Seriously, get over it.

Inglis is more over the hill than Chambers mate.

Sorry forty twenty you are wrong with one statistic there. Manly have only won 8 premierships. The broncos themselves have nearly caught them.

Good to see someone else that knows something about football management. Good on you Jacks.

No way Inglis should be in that team. He is past it. Will Chambers may be a grub but even he deserves a position instead of Inglis.
