It is shocking to hear how the players have been affected by Eddie’s tenure. Frankly, it’s as if he took the position to effectively sabotage Australian rugby not rescue it. He really couldn’t have done more to wreck our chances at the World Cup and it sounds from this article like there are significant continuing effects that are also all on him too. A hit job all round.

'How do I get out of Australian rugby?' Wallaby's anguish after year from hell - and why there are 'no excuses' for Rebels

The amateur lawyers on this site are starting to sound shrill. They should keep their comments on rugby where they belong.

Teams are there. Fans are there. And a plate could still have teeth if it was used to determine qualification for the next World Cup. Automatic qualification for third in pool seems a bit soft.

And won’t be if we drop to 3 or 4 sides. Good players will come through in time. Blocking/abolishing their routes to development won’t give us what you are looking for.

Alarm bells should be ringing in NZ

The bind is on the outside of the leg. Look again for yourself, there’s a replay at the top of the article so I imagine you can find it. It’s a bind used in the clean out so not unusual. It would help if you kept your comment to the facts.

Rugby News: Confusion as Angus Bell avoids suspension for 'wild act', Eddie's 'fat, lazy' sledge, NZ Bledisloe date locked in

A lot of inaccuracies are being repeated here. The tackle was not deemed legal, just not red threshold due to mitigation – there were two other tacklers and a chiefs blocker that influenced the outcome. And, actually, no arms were put between legs. Bell had one leg and that approach to putting players off their feet is not all that rare; it is quite common at the clean out for example. The difference here was that the Tahs tacklers pushed the Chief’s blocker who then pushed Cane down over Bell and that caused him to land as he did. Without those factors Bell would have pushed Cane off his feet sideways.

An unbiased view would look at all potentially mitigating factors and the there are three: two Waratahs defenders other than Bell and one chiefs blocker binding onto the ball carrier. Together the tahs defenders drive the chiefs blocker into cane who fell over bell. Without those three other players cane would have fallen sideways – bell only had one leg. Yellow if anything. I expect bell to get off with a warning.

Dave Rennie’s point precisely. Same TMO is appointed, same match turning decisions.

MATCH REPORT: 'Horrendous'! Rennie anger as 14-man Wallabies beaten at the death

No, it went forward off the hand. Watch the ball not the player. The player’s movement after contact makes it look like it went straight down but it did not. With the benefit of the replay, the TMO should have got that right

I’m not sure why Ikitau keeps getting away without any comment; he was woeful in the last two matches; particularly against England, multiple errors in attack and dense; killed two promising movements and gave the last pass for England’s try after the bell. I would drop him for Wales and start Paisami and Parese in the centres with Lolesio at 10 and JOC on the bench for cover. Paisami’s defence has been exceptional and Parese runs straight at outside.

'No answers': Only questions and confusion left lingering from Wallabies' loss to England

Yes I agree; but this looked more like a planned move/obstruction to me. And the prop then moved forward behind the wallaby line to leave the gap for Woki to exploit. But I can see this is a grey area.

Thanks. So, smart play by Forletta and Woki then.

I have a question about the officiating for France’s 2nd try at the end of the first half on Saturday. France are on the wallabies line with a ruck set up. Interestingly the French prop is positioned in the middle of the wallabies defensive line; so in front of the ball. He is looking back at Cameron Woki, the #7, who is about to play the ball. They appear to meet eyes. The French #1 moves away from his position across to his right behind the wallaby line and as he does so the #7 launches over the ruck into the space left by the #1 to score. Both touch judges and the ref are right there watching. It looked like a set play to me; but it also looked illegal but perhaps I’m wrong about that. No one, that I have noticed, has commented on it. So my question is: Was it legit? What’s the ruling there?

It is worth recalling the judicious use of promotion/relegation. Why not use that mechanism to bring forward the best clubs and relegate those struggling to even out the standards?

The Kiwis: How to beat them at their own game

essentially, yes he did; running flat out into a more or less stationary tacker; that too is dangerous play.

Reece Hodge cited for high tackle

Changing running angle, running with head and leading shoulder aimed at the tackler’s head who did attempt to wrap – whatever the subsequent contact was – but the tackler is somehow the only one at fault? Sorry about the concussion but running flat out, trying to run over a stationary tackler is risky.
